Every winter just before the 1st storm, the thoughts of being a kid creep into my mind. Nothing is truer than sliding down a big hill in a sled in cool white winter. Yes, it is not as nice as Buck Hill and have more choices. Brookside Park’s hill have one major advantage that Buck’s doesn’t: have: it teach our kids the value and appreciation of climbing a big hill after a very satisfying ride down estascy. Every kid should learn value in life: nothing in this world is free — even it doesn’t cost you a dime to slide on this hill… There is a price for this kind of fun. Brookside Park’s hill is not too big or too small. In short, it is just right. I wish this hill were next door to my house when I was growing up… It would definitely would have ingrained in my head like my children today. Like I said before, just before the 1st winter storm, my kids and I wait patiently to attack this hill again. My son is 12 yrs old now and have only lived here for 5 years as of this writing. He may not remember any land mark in Bloomington because he doesn’t know how to drive yet. I can guarantee you he knows what Brookside Hill is. Tip: bring a thermos with hot coa-coa…Your kids or date would think you are the greatest thing on earth. No, I have NO idea about the park in the summer.
