Borton Overseas is the name given to a fine collection of passionate individuals who are absolutely crazy about the products they represent in their chosen geographies.

Borton Overseas is also the US sales office for Fred. Olsen Cruises as well as a collection of expedition cruises to Antarctica, Iceland, Greenland, South America, and other adventurous ports.

The staff of Borton Overseas are dedicated, passionate and professional individuals who consider themselves lucky to spend their working days helping their clients experience the lands that they themselves, love so much.

While we do present many itineraries both in our brochure and on our website, the majority of what we do is craft custom journeys for our travelers looking for specific experiences, catered to their travel preferences!

History

Established in 1894.

Originally founded in 1894 as Sunden, Vanstrum and Company specializing in steamship travel for the new wave of immigrants coming from Scandinavia to the U.S., Vanstrum was merged into Borton Overseas, a highly respected travel company you see today specializing in Africa, Scandinavia and Worldwide Cruises.

Meet the Business Owner

Kjell B.

Business Owner

Kjell Bergh, owner and CEO of Borton Overseas, is a man of many talents. He has served on the boards of many organizations and academic institutions, including Gillette Children’s Hospital, Sons of Norway Foundation, Vinland National Center, American International Automobile Dealers Association, World Press Institute, and the Nobel Peace Prize Forum. He is a trustee emeritus and member of the executive committee, chair, and audit committee at Macalester College, as well as regent emeritus at Augsburg College. Kjell has been an Honorary Consul of Tanzania since 2000.

First arriving in the USA in 1965, as a journalist from Kristiansund, Norway, Kjell attended Macalester College and worked at Borton Volvo in Minneapolis.

He worked his way up to General Manager and purchased Borton Volvo in 1970. Kjell also started Borton Overseas that same year, and in 1975 purchased Vanstrum Travel.
