A while back I wrote (and since removed) a review about my service at the Bobby & Steve’s Bryn Mawr location. I stated the shop lacked competence when they installed two new Wisconsin license plates since they put the one with the stickers on the front and the one without on the back. Because I’m kind of an asshole and jump to conclusions sometimes I stated as previously mentioned they were ‘incompetent’. I was wrong. I’m from Wisconsin and apparently in Minnesota stickers go on the front AND back and there was a discrepancy in knowledge there unrelated to the shop’s mechanical skills which are very good. I’ve had car repairs performed at this location a couple times and the work was always done well, fairly priced, and I really have no complaints. Thanks!

This review is strictly for the gas station itself and not the repair shop. This place also doubles as a bait shop and there aren’t many (or any) nearby! Pro tip… their air pump looks like it is the type that makes you pay, but I have found it is actually free. Just squeeze the handle and it works. I hate paying for air because it seems half the time it doesn’t work.

This place and the people who work there are great! Reliable, friendly, trustworthy, and prompt. This is the first and only review I“ve written on Unilocal,but felt indebted to do so due to the incredible experience I had at Bobby and Steve’s. When my car broke down I debated between towing it to the dealership or to Bobby and Steves, as was suggested by the original mechanic who looked at my car. I I know nothing about cars, so I was leary of my choice. However, they were able to get my car finished overnight, communicated regularly with me about the repairs, and saved me $ 400 in service (I cross checked this with my dealership)! In addition, they changed my oil and gave me a carwash free of charge. I was so pleased with the service that I gave the man in charge a gift card, which he promptly called to thank me for. I highly recommend this shop. Great people, quick, affordable and careful service, transparent communication and honorable intentions.

The guys who work in the service station are fantastic. I have been in a couple of different times and they have fixed what has been wrong for free, and the times I have had to have something replaced, I have always felt they were straightforward and fair. I am grateful and am happy to continue getting my car serviced here!

This is the second Bobby and Steve’s that has completely frustrated me. When towing my car, they failed to deliver it to my mechanic and ended up «losing» the car overnight, telling me they had no record of it when I called their dispatch. When I finally drove around to multiple B&S locations to try to find my car, I found it at this one. It took an additional 12 hours for them to deliver it to my mechanic. They only did this, finally, because I had to threaten to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Never again will I step foot in a Bobby and Steve’s, even for a quick snack.

I dislike to have to write a negative review about a company but I have given this establishment plenty of chances. Their communication isn’t the best and they aren’t very helpful. I was in desperate need and I was told that they could get my vehicle back going by the end of business hours. I waited until 9:45pm before I called and they hadn’t even looked at my vehicle. I returned the next morning at 7am and they started looking at it. 1 pm came around and they told me that they couldn’t fix my vehicle, because they didn’t have the proper tools to do so. Talk about a big inconvenience… I will not be giving them another chance, I don’t care how desperate I am.

Their gas price is the highest in the neighborhood .
So is everything else in the store, if it wasn’t for the fact that its the closest place, I would go else where for any stuff these guys sale.
Parking is extremely small.

Words cannot begin to express how kind, friendly, and affordable these guys are! I am so thankful for the man who came to tow my car and was able to jump it instead. Then, when I went to the station, they were incredibly professional and real. Thanks for a great experience!

I have had a lot of work done at your Penn store on my personal and business vehicles. I was in night around 7pm last night I had a flat down the road and came into your store and ask for a patch and what the price would be. The gentleman behind the counter told me 30 dollars plus tax and I said wow that’s expensive Discount Tire does it for free normally not that I expect it for free but I had no idea it would be so expensive I’ve had tires patched before it’s never been more than 20 dollars. He then said with rudeness and disrespect in his voice well were not discount tire and if you want Discount Tire to do it you should drive over there with your flat and get them to fix it. I have to tell you he had attitude and smelled like liquor from the moment I talk to him and walk in. This guy is a prick and I will no longer be bringing any of my vehicles to Bobby and Steves any longer and I’m sure with that gentleman’s attitude I won’t be the only 1 to make this decision. And from my understanding this is typical behavior for him if he worked for me he would have been fired on the spot for his demeanor and attitude. I have been coming to your store for a long time and will never come there again and I will be letting everyone I know about this new guy and his inability to treat customers with respect I own my own business in understand the importance of having the right employees to represent my company and I can tell you as a business owner this gentleman is going to cost you a lot of money in lost revenue.

I only went here because I had a living social deal for 3 oil changes. While they were accommodating when I lost my punch card for the deal, I was pretty underwhelmed by the service. Each time, they took about twice the amount of time I was told when dropping off my car (1.5−2 hours). Today, they also failed to reset the low air pressure tire light after having my car for a total of 2 hours (I was told it would take 1 hour). When I called them about it as I was leaving, giving them a chance to correct it, they were telling me, the light would correct itself when I drive my car for a bit (wrong) and in the end hung up on me because «I got the oil change for free anyway» (also wrong, I paid for the living social deal AND wasted 2h of my life on it)… Very disappointing…

I had my catalytic converter changed couple years ago and so I thought. They had charged me over $ 600. Last week I had issues with Catalytic converter and took the vehicle in to another mechanic. That mechanic said that I still had the old catalytic converter. Bobby and Steve’s never changed it yet charged me. It has been about two years and that is why I didn’t bother with it. I have completely stopped going there even though there is one just under a mile from where I live.

My insurance company had called Bobby and Steve’s to tow my car to a local car dealership for repair. When the truck driver from Bobby and Steve’s dropped off my car, they gave my keys to some random guy on the dealership lot. My car was found the next day in a corn field about two hours south of the dealership. I highly recommend never using the services from this location.

I’ve been to the Bobby and Steve’s in Downtown, South Minneapolis (Nicollet), Eden Prairie (Center Mall Area) and Valley View Rd and they are all clean and offer tons of amenities that are not usually found at a gas station.
With that in mind, I purchased a Star Tribune Steal and came here to have my oil changed, and was greatly surprised at its dumpiness.
The guys were friendly and I had no complaints about the service, but man this place needs to be cleaned up.

I stopped at Bobby & Steve’s to have my car checked up before I drove to Phoenix — you know the drill — just wanted to make sure everything was good. I thought I needed a tune up. I asked them to check it out and do what needed to be done. When I came back all they did was a lube job — nothing else was needed. Nice to experience honest people who do great work. Thank you!
