Be At The Calhoun Greenway

My lease is about to be up on studio apartment in this building. bittersweet. I loved living here. Though they were going to increase my rent significantly, I might have renewed my lease if I decided to stay in Minneapolis. It was the only place I lived during my 11 months spent in Minneapolis. It opened at the end of 2013, so I was the first person to live in my apartment.
Pros:
–LOCATION: Right on the Greenway, right near 100. 5 minute drive to Uptown. Right by Whole Foods, Chipotle & Wakame Sushi. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk to Lake Calhoun from here.
–FRIENDLY and helpful concierge/​front desk staff. Kimberly also plans events so you can meet your neighbors. People are generally friendly.
–It’s a PET FRIENDLY building BUT there is a PET FREE FLOOR! Wahoo. I appreciated this option. 3^rd floor all the way!
–No need for a gym membership. the GYM IN THE BUILDING has new equipment &you can get a quality workout in there.
–WASHER/​DRYER: Full sized, front loading… very nice.
-«SOCIAL ROOM»: I hosted a baby shower for a friend here and it’s a GREAT space to host an event. It doesn’t cost anything extra, just put a deposit down in case you break anything.
–POOL/​GRILLS/​FIREPIT: pretty much only usable for 3 – 4 months out of the year, but definitely a great use in the summer. Also has a rooftop lounge.
–Underground parking garage. I got it included in my rent as part of a special, otherwise it runs $ 100 a month. As someone who had never driven in snow before, this was a must for me. The parking lot is free but it can be a pain to navigate, especially in the winter. If you get home before 5 you have a better chance of finding a spot.
Cons:
— Thin walls. Typical complaint for a large apartment building, but definitely worth mentioning. Not too bad from the left and right, but you will more than likely hear the person above you if they weigh more than 50 pounds. I don’t think I walk heavy but the neighbors below me always complained. You can also hear a lot of hallway noise; I was right near the elevator and could definitely tell when someone was getting on/​off.
— Pricey. I think the market rate for my studio apartment is somewhere between $ 1200−1300… basically a mortgage! But I suppose its comparable or perhaps even slightly cheaper than some of the other «luxury apartments» in the area (i.e. flux, blue, lime, the walkway).
–They boast wifi in the common areas, but it really only works in the lobby & the social room I think. (i.e. not at the pool or on the rooftop lounge)
-«Quiet Hours»: You have to be off the rooftop by 10 & you can’t use grills, pool or firepit after that time. I understand that it’s to respect the people who live around those common areas, but 10 is a little early, especially on the weekends.
All in all, I loved this place. Thanks, Be, for making my first apartment the best I could’ve imagined.
