Ah Sa Wan

Bland and flavorless Chinese skyway lunch option. Fried rice tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. Only redeeming quality is that it’s cheap. $ 5.50 or so for rice and an entrée.

Food was ok, pricing was bait and switch. I asked for white rice and one entrée. The price was supposed to be less than $ 5. I was charged $ 7.10. Won’t be back.

Basic Chinese take-​out with the common options. They mix up their options pretty frequently, though, so you won’t get bored. Friendly and fast service and decent prices.

Best Chinese food in the the Twin Cities! That is saying a lot, since I’m not an easy person to please when I comes to Chinese food. I have traveled to China numerous times and I can tell you, the owner (and staff) knows how to cook! The vegetables are always fresh, the meat is high quality, the rice is cooked properly, and the taste is outstanding.
The owner and staff are some of the nicest people. I love the fact that it is a family run business and everyone who works there seems to genuinely care about their customers.
I would also add that the food is very affordable. They offer many specials, with the lunch special being a tremendous value.
I will continue to support this local business because the owner, and staff, are genuine people who care about their customers. Plus, the food tastes great!

Apparently the name means «OH SO GOOD». Well no– it wasn’t the case till last year but now it is reasonably good.
The Menu is a mess. You cannot decipher it. So here it is:
Fried Rice (or plain rice) plus two items (e.g. Fried Rice with General Tao’s and Garlic Chicken) is around $ 5 with tax. You can replace one item with soup.
If you replace one item with an signature item (generally useless) then: Fried Rice (or plain rice) plus two items (similar to listed above) is around $ 6 with tax. You can replace one item with soup.
The seating size is good. The location is accessible via skyway. The employees are good.
You should order their to-​go box (their plates are small and useless).
You should try their spices– the jalapenos in fish sauce is something I don’t like much but their red peppers in sauce is excellent.
They have one TV running with I think CNBC.
The soups are excellent– They have hot and sour soup and egg drop soup and dumpling soup (never tried but heard good reviews).
Their free wi-​fi does not work. Shame!
Anyways TL: DR– Excellent food, nice employees, indecipherable menus

I’m always a sucker for cheap and greasy Chinese food. The cheaper and greaser, the better!
I was on a mission with a co-​worker to find such a place and we landed on Ah Sa Wan.
Now, this isn’t gourmet Chinese food and it’s not LeAnn Chin (which isn’t all that great!!!); this place is a hole in the wall that is family run.
The menu is very easy, you pick 1 or 2 entrees, rice or noodles; then your choice of beverage. You bring in 10 bucks and you walk out with change that you can use for a snack later. They pile on the portions into a white take out container to ensure you’re full at the end and come back for more.
I got noodles, sesame chicken and stir fry pork. All in all, not bad and not the best either, but good enough to satisfy my craving for cheap and greasy Chinese food.
Stop by for a quick and cheap lunch (about $ 7)!

Have to agree with others — it’s fast and pretty well priced. If I were to compare, though, I don’t think it’s fair they charge about the same price as Panda Express and don’t have the quality to back it up. Their Thai Noodles were really good, but I had chicken and broccoli and it was probably the worst I’ve ever had. That being said, service is consistently great, everyone I’ve talked to there was very nice.

I used to eat here frequently because it is the closest Chinese place to my building. That is until they charged for for hot sauce. Seriously? what’s next tissue?
The food is OK but any place that charges for sauce, i would avoid. Makes you wonder what kind of cheap food they are feeding you. Probably would serve you the left overs from others.

First, «Ah Sa Wan» has changed it’s name to «So Good Asian». However, that’s all that changed; still the same people, still the same food. Speaking of which…
The food here is filling, portions are large, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. One can quibble about quality, but it seems on a par with most «Chinese» grab-​and-​go lunch places.
While I’m not big on their Egg Drop Soup, their Hot and Sour, if gotten to early in the lunch hour, is OK. The «spicy» dishes are of low-​to-​medium heat; very Minnesotan. The flavors are of the standard, off-​the-​shelf type.
This is not somewhere to bring a date, or linger over a superb dish of Chinese fill-​in-​the-​blank. You won’t find the world’s best Dim Sum here. (Although the Shrimp Spring Rolls are pretty tasty.) It IS a place where you’ll find a quick lunch of hot, filling food in the Chinese/​American style.
However, Your Mileage May Vary.

I work in this building every now and then and I get Ah Sa Wan almost every time I’m here. I hear that the title translates into Oh So Good. And I definitely agee with that statement. General Tao chicken is always tasty. The tofu and veggie dish is also a very nice healthy option. A big plus is also the sauce area they have where you can get unlimited sweet and sour sauce, hot sauce, hot mustard or whatever else your heart desires. Good stuff.

Quick, cheap sit-​down lunch place. They have rotating daily lunch specials and the portions are big.
The food quality was good (i.e. white chicken meat and all the veggies seemed fresh).
The taste was disappointing. The fried rice was very bland — looked and tasted like an oily white rice. The chicken and broccoli was salty without any real flavor.

Not the best quality, i.e., a bit sloppy. Salty overall.
Their Hot & Sour Soup is by far the nastiest I’ve yet tasted. It has an odd medicinal twist.
But fast for lunch. And cheap.
This enterprise is a fine example of, «If you build a mediocre to low quality Chinese food restaurant in a high-​traffic location, they will come.»
