Lets do the time warp again. This place is the best offering every thing a big music fan would ever want. Dont let the name scare you for they offer a priceless array of high quality and rarely seen recordings. Downloading might be the thing to do these days but there is something really special about this place. Dave, Joel, Stu and Staff are fantastic.

My visits to Mr. Cheapo’s are by far the biggest reason why I am always in debt and broke. Awesome selection of nearly every thing a music junkie could ask for from vinyls to cassettes to CDs. Additionally, there is an unfortunately small but nostalgic collection of old Xbox, play station and older console games. There is also a vast arsenal of movie and tv show DVDs and VHS tapes. Would totally recommend to anybody that lives in a hole and doesn’t already know about the place.
MY ONLY CRITICISM IS: you can’t make much off selling used items but… Business is business.

I have been going to Mr. Cheapos locations since I was a toddler. They used to have more locations but only the Mineola and Commack locations remain after the digital age.
This location is quite impressive and well organized. If you are an avid music collector it is hard to leave here without spending $ 75 – 100 bucks. I would say CD’s are more abundant but they have some vinyl in the back as well as cassettes.
The used DVD wall is also very well organized and has cult classics, box office best sellers and everything in between.
Parking is around back in a metered lot and usually always has availability. Great food in the area and not too far from the Meadbowbrook parkway.

Went back and the usual guy wasn’t there. I brought in an entire box of CDs and videos. He really didn’t look at them and offered me $ 5 for the entire box. I walked out.

What can I say, things change, still a one of a kind. Staff is quirky, like the record nerds in the movie high fidelity… but they know their music. The used vinyl lp’s have gone from bargains to overpriced, what used to be $ 5 is now $ 20-​$ 30 or more. As for the vinyl lp’s you can still find a bargain, but it’s the needle in the haystack, they have gone from cheepo to expensivoooo.

Going to this store is like going back to my childhood. They have a great selection of music and movies. Anytime I am looking for a movie from my childhood that may be rare, this is the first place I think to go. Even if they don’t have what I am looking for, they order it for me at a low cost and it arrives within a few days. Great service guys!!!

Great place with a decent selection of jazz CD’s and just about any DVD you can think of. The staff is helpful and very knowledgeable. They also have lots of rock memorabilia and a good amount of discounted items. My only nit is that at times it can be somewhat cramped, so it’s best to drop in when it’s not packed with customers, as it tends to be on weekends. Definitely worth a visit.

My daily drive by or patronage at mr cheapos is one that I liken to direct contact and sad reminiscence of a species entering the latter stages of extinction by the hands of corporate iTunes and pirate media wrath. It’s a reminder of times that passed less than a decade ago before The Machine as I call it began to make marketing a tangible album more difficult and begun to bring all the impishly mediocre and downright terrible «artists» to the mainstream that our ears are blessed with today, and left the hard working and talented musicians behind to eat the scraps. Mr cheapos is one of the last, and endured even after tower records and the legendary slipped disc fell under. Lets keep them around for the long run

This is a great store. There’s wall to wall records, CDs and cassettes to purchase. The records and cassettes are for purist and old school music people. You can probably find almost anything you are looking for or might like here. They have a cheap buy back but that’s probably because they need to make a profit too. I bought a bunch of CDs here one time hoping to make a lot of money and I only got $ 19.

I have to agree with Christine and her posting of 5÷1÷2012.
I understand that you must buy lower then you sell it for but that is not the same as taking advantage of people. We brought in bags of CDs (approximate 300 items) — some of them were still new and sealed, others were multipdisc sets. The gentleman glanced at them and offered $ 20 for everything telling me that they were not worth anything. That is less than $ 0.07 each We were then told to take it or leave it.
My recommendation is to know the value of what you are selling before walking in here. I did not do my research but we also realized that at seven cents a piece we had nothing to lose by walking away and doing our research

and realized that we can sell them online for significantly (exponentially) more money. I ended up selling most of them to a store in NYC and they offered me close to what
was offering.

Love this shop! Lots of cool used cds, vinyl, 45s, dvds, cassettes, etc… So far I have found some great finds here and the people who work here have always been helpful and cool to talk to. Definitely check this place out! Also, the prices are pretty great.

Mr Cheapo is the first place to go on Long Island for records outside of NYC’s Kim’s, Generation Records, & Bleeker Bob’s. They have a few rarities and will buy your old records.
My music collecting musician husband told me a story about checking out at Mr Cheapo’s which makes me crack up. Apparently one of the clerks pretended he was on a public address system and said loudly, «Beep-​boo-​bop-​boo-​beep (as if it was some kind of address system sound). Mr Cheapo’s will be closing in 5 minutes. Please bring your selections to the front.» He did this a few times until the store was fully closed.

the best selection of vinyl in Nassau. the choices in the new section aren’t outstanding but the used bins are always filled and very well organized. the used cd section is alphabetized which really helps the browsing process.
this is a great place to build your collection or just fine tune it.

45s are sold here, so if you have a jukebox that takes 45s (like my father’s) or you are a collector, Mr. Cheapo has such a great selection that you’re bound to find what you are looking for, and then some.

This store was most likely the largest influence on my growth of music appreciation over my teenage years. They have a wide selection of rock and metal, including some rare and live recordings. As other reviewers have said, they do buy music, but they don’t give much for trade ins.
