History

Established in 1986.

Jim Hales has been a practicing attorney since 1986. In 1989 he and his wife moved to the Carson Valley. They were attracted to its beauty and the healthy lifestyle available to those who live there. They immediately realized that it was a great place to raise their children. In 1999 Jim joined with Michael Rowe to form the law firm of Rowe & Hales. In January 2012 Jennifer Yturbide joined the firm.

I love the practice of law in a small town. It has allowed me the opportunity to represent clients in a broad range of legal areas in cases both complex and simple. Although I have practiced in many fields over the years, much of my practice now focuses on matters that are important to families: estate planning, guardianship, probates and disputes regarding the distribution of assets upon the death of an individual. My team and I are committed to working with clients to create estate plans that meet the individual needs and desires of each client. No two families are alike.

I enjoy spending time with clients learning about them and their life stories. It is delightful for me to see the pride in a mother’s eye as she talks about the successes of her children and her desire to best assist them in their course through life.
