So my Dr. referred me to get a massage for my low back pain and sciatica. I also have fibromyalgia so I’m constantly in pain. I told him I’ve been getting them at my chiropractors office for years and they were temporary relief. He insisted I see ‘HIS’ guy. I told the doc that my chiropractic office takes insurance so the massage is just the price of a co-pay. His reply was –trust me, this guy’s worth every penny. So I decided to FOLLOW Dr’s orders and book appointment with Shawn. It took about a month to get in with him,(He’s very busy) but let me tell you it was worth the wait. The facility is awesome, from the second you walk into the building you can see this place is very nice. It has a café that serves drinks similar to Starbucks which I thought was a huge plus. The massage that I received was different then anything I received in the past, he stretched me in positions I literally didn’t think were possible. Then he gave me the deep tissue massage, It was so much pressure I thought he was going to push me and the table I was on through the floor lol. It’s was strange feeling that I was pain free afterwards. I’ve been in pain for so long I just got used to it. Since I met Shawn, I’ve stopped taking my painkillers that I’ve been on for years and haven’t been to the chiropractor. If your in pain, or looking for a new massage guy, trust me, you won’t be disappointed! If his techniques helped me, I bet my bottom dollar he can help you too.

I’ve been there twice in the past week. Sunni and Brittany were fantastic. Very sweet. Sunni and I went over what I wanted for my color and I asked her for a recommendation we came up with a good plan. When the instructor came by(red head) she changed our whole plan and my hair was two different shades. It came out orange in the front but perfect in the back. To be fixed she threw in highlights which was what I didn’t want now my hair looks over processed. I appreciate them fixing it but I didn’t get what I wanted. It doesn’t look natural. I hope the next time I come in Sunni can do what we planned, I trusted her not the instructor.

The location is right off of highway 100(108th street) south of Beloit Road so it is easy to get there. The inside of the building looks beautiful and the inside of the salon is really nice too. They have the salon on one side and the beauty school on the other. The staff are friendly and the offer you tea, coffee or water when you arrive. The lady who did my eyebrows(Christine — I think) did a very good job. Vivian did my hair and she did a great job too. She really listened to what I told her I wanted and even asked questions when I wasn’t explaining it very clearly to make sure we were both on the same page instead of guessing like most people would do. Vivian is a GTS(Graduate Training Stylist) but you wouldn’t know it by her work. She could have told me she’s been doing this for years and I would have believed her. Prices are a bit high for my taste but worth it.

If you are looking for a nice place to get your hair and other beauty regimens done, without paying an arm and a leg, I highly recommend checking out VICI’s beauty school. The people that work on you are students. However, they are under the supervision of licensed instructors. The instructors always check in on you and the student, and checks to see that things are being done properly. I have been utilizing the beauty school for a year and a half now, and I am very pleased with the service I receive.

Just had a massage service yesterday and will not go back. My 60 minute massage lasted not even 50 minutes. In fact the digital clock that showed the time in the massage room was turned around when the massage was over because she was trying to hide that she finished the massage too early. The therapist yawned audibly 3 times, and the massage methods were sometimes rough and erratic(for a relaxation massage). It was one of the worst massages I’ve ever gotten. After showering in the shower room, I noticed black mold up by the windows. They no longer offer the hair product or lotion that used to be available after your massage. Then my therapist took me to the cash register to pay, spun around and walked away while the cashier just said $ 60. They used to at least wish you a good day, say thanks ask how your service was — nothing. I realize some of these things are small, but it’s more about the fact that these were things they used to do, things that are just a general part of doing business and that show you actually care about your clients, that they just don’t even care to do anymore. I’ve been going to Vici for probably over 10 years because I did think they had the most cutting edge styling and services. I started by getting my hair done there and eventually liked going for massage services. But after my last massage service, I won’t be going back to Vici at all. Going there so long, I think I’ve always given them the benefit of the doubt and I really love the showers they have for after your massage service. I’ve been canceled on, given a massage with gloves because the girl had dry hands(weird) and now this last experience — it’s enough and I won’t keep giving them my money anymore. I find their customer service poor — it’s almost like the place is run by smug students that couldn’t care less if you come back. I don’t deserve to be brushed off in this stuck up atmosphere they’ve become comfortable with and I don’t think other clients should settle for that either.

I visited the Salon side on 8⁄19 for a brow wax, and was happy with them. Upon checking out, the lady helping me had this smirk on her face the entire time. And about a handful of people were just standing around behind the counter, looking at me and whispering. It was very awkward and very uncomfortable. When I got into my car, I looked in the mirror and noticed that my head was bleeding in between my brows. It looked like a small pimple had gotten irritated from the wax. There was a definite noticeable amount of blood that had even smeared a bit. I can not believe that the staff would not tell me I was bleeding. It scabbed over, and looks much better now. but instead of being smirked at, I would have liked to been informed. I have been coming to this establishment for over ten years, even since they were on 27th street — and I will not be back.

I called on Friday after work to get in for an emergency appointment. I call it an emergency because I get fed up and cut my own hair on impulse all the time and this time I just wanted it fixed so I needed a pro before I attack my hair again! I called and she was about to set an appt. For me then I remembered I’m a special case so I gave her more information. I told her I have very curly hair and it was doing the teepee thing(curly heads know what this is) I needed someone who was willing to put layers in my hair. Every time I would ask another stylist to do this they would tell me that layers have to blend so what I was asking for couldn’t be done. That’s why I always cut my own hair! She set me up with Sam the same evening. I showed Sam my sample pic of «Rihannas» curly blonde layered hair and she did it! I am in love with my hair finally! No more need for headbands! Although I have become attached to them as an accessory after all these years so I might still wear them on occasion :-D After many fails at other places I am so happy I found Sam. She did great explaining to me how to treat my hair so it doesn’t frizz and knot up. I will no longer need to stand frustrated in my bathroom with scissors in my hand and random chunks of hair in my toilet!

My daughter saw Lena today and she was outstanding. I would give her 10 stars if I could. My daughter is 8 years old and has mixed hair, she has never had her hair trimmed or professionally straightened(only with family). My daughter has a VERY tender head and only flinched twice. Lena was very gentle with her and did a great job straightening her hair(with flat iron). She also had a few tips for me to maintain her hair. I will definitely be seeing Lena again.

I am really pleased with this beauty school. My sister and I treated my mom to a facial and massage here for her birthday and she raved about it! As we waited for her, we were surprised to find that we could do so right there in their adjoining café which was tres adorbs! Big, comfy couch, smoothies and coffee and tea, little sandwiches, magazines, and a TV in the corner in case you just feel like zoning out. It’s a big bonus since there’s not much to choose from commercially in the area to hang out and wait. It was good that we didn’t have to go anywhere at all. I found the price more than fair, even inexpensive for that you are getting in a package and the service providers were all great and über friendly. I was disappointed they didn’t have enough hands on staff to give me a pregnancy massage at the same time my mom had her appointment, but what can you do? Definitely worth your time(and drive, if you live far away from Greenfield).

I tried the Green Science peel facial with Stephanie and had an AMAZING and very relaxing experience. She has flawless technique for facial massage, in fact the massage component was the best massage with facial I have ever had! The Aveda products used left my skin feeling very renewed, hydrated and fresh. It’s not an aggressive peel so there was no redness which I was a little nervous about because I was going out that evening, more like an exfoliation treatment. The massage and facial facilities were lovely. My suggestion for improvement would be to immediately show guests back to the relaxation room while waiting for their service to begin, rather than having us hang out in the reception area with café tables outside the hair salon. I do wish this salon participated in the Aveda Pure Privilege program.

It’s pretty far from my house but I have not had a bad experience here yet. This place has some strong talent with very reasonable prices. I’ll keep coming here whenever I can, for sure.

So part of my ambiguously Asian look stems from the fact that I have curly hair and not the straight, glossy Pantene hair that most Asians have. It takes me *hours* to straighten my hair. I am a lazy Asian, which means my hair often remains in its curly and somewhat unkempt state, which I try to miserably pass off as sexy bedhead. The problem is that this look does not really scream professional career woman. Enter my friend who got the Coppola keratin treatment done at Vici and since she looks fabulous, I decided to try it for myself. It’s not cheap — I think it was like $ 350 with tip and cut, etc. and you can’t wash your hair or put anything in it for about 3 days — but OHWOWISITWORTHIT! The gentleman who did my treatment was knowledgeable and explained everything before my actual appointment so I came in knowing what to expect and armed with work to do for the 3+ hours treatment. I don’t remember his name since I preoccupied myself with work while he nimbly and diligently wrangled my mane into sleek submission(he had an accent and I thought he was gay, but he’s not thank-you-very-much so bad Smiling P. for making that ASSumption). My hair is incredibly soft and shiny and I have received compliments galore — I do the haughty Pantene flip all the time now and 9⁄10 random people surveyed agree that I am now officially more Asian looking — SUCCESS! The best part is that I have wash and go hair so I can air dry on the way to work and look like the consummate professional career woman when I arrive at the office. I also allow people to «pet» my hair so they can get in on the softness action. It’s addictive.
