The Lounge at the Avalon

This is my new hangout for a weeknight drink and time to chat with friends. Not noisy at all. I do wish there was bottled wine with more variety but it still is a great place.

While waiting to see Deadpool I decided to grab a drink from The Lounge. First off, it’s so nice and quaint, with a room tucked off to the side with the most comfortable couches which could easily fit 6 – 8 people or if you just want some privacy. They had the beer I was looking for (Spotted Cow), and the bartender was very nice, and attentive. I kept a tab open, and after the movie easily closed it out. Great experience!

My first experience visiting the Lounge at the Avalon left me deciding it will be my last. I met up with friends for a movie here and we decided to have a drink at the Lounge before the movie. There were only 2 other patrons in here, so service should be great, right? I ordered 2 bloody mary’s for me and one of my friends. The bartender was extremely aloof and appeared to be put-​out by having to actually make a drink. For $ 9 each, you received a glass of bloody mary mix with an olive or two in it (if my memory serves me right). I can assure you, this was not worth it. I have been served far superior bloody mary’s for slightly less money at nearby establishments that put a little more heart into the drink. What happened to the pickle, sausage stick, celery or something a little more imaginative? Additionally, the bartender failed to offer a chaser. When returning to my friend with her drink, she asked about the chaser. I was so dumbfounded by the lack of presentation of the drinks, I failed to ask about the beer chasers. She returned to the bartender and asked. Once again, he presented very aloof and gave her the chasers without any apology. Not at all impressed! This visit was a few months ago when American Sniper was playing at the theatre. Hopefully this bartender was just having a bad day. If this is his usual demeanor, I wouldn’t waste my time here.
