Sharehouse Goods

Great place. We were in the area from out of town and found this place while searching for coffee. Was pleasantly surprised to discover it was much more. A great example of a business model that does good.

Full disclosure: I work here part-​time now.
But I work here because of my customer experience. I will do my best to explain what brought me here, and bring in what I know now as an employee at the end.
Sharehouse goods started out in the basement of the owner and his wife, Jared Cronk, and blossomed into a large operation run with his brother Aaron and family selling items via Amazon, Abe Books, et al.
Then it got bigger, to the point that they have 40 consigners and five shipping locations across USA. Anyone can sell via their model. Right now they have 125,000 items for sale online – many items cross listed.
They got so big that they bought a building on North Ave and 55^th that expanded into two buildings and collaborative spaces. (They rent office space to an urban agency & kitchen space for McBob’s catering.
The building at 5507 is now also a coffee shop and storefront for in-​person sales of their inventory. One can look their items up at s kiosk while sipping a latte and savoring one of their breakfast sandwiches. Mostly they have books, DVDs and CDs in their shop visible, but they do feature art from local artists for sale, some décor items, and miscellany. That’s always changing so it makes each visit a new treasure hunt.
Their selection of pastries varies by the day, and their selection of Rishi tea is modest, but solid. They mostly do pour over, single serve coffee fresh for each guest, but they always have one pot of Stone Creek ready each morning. And they do cappuccino and lattes, specialty drinks and flavors. Just ask.
Their sitting space is eclectic and varied, with a few couches surrounding a tabletop oil fire box. There is a play area with toys for kids, and the seating varies from low to high tables, barstools at the kiosk area, and some seasonal outdoor seating.
They also buy selective books and media. One won’t get rich selling directly to the store, as they pay out a modest percentage of the sell value. The way to make some money is to become a seller – and they will list, pack, ship and pay you for items you sell.
Of course, the store has a bit more of a missional purpose. Sharehouse is about sharing, enabling community, and empowering individuals by employing people with difficult backgrounds or disabilities.
That leads to why I joined with them part time. They’ve enabled me to begin thriving in a part time job, working my way back toward a healthier self. I love it here. I hope you’ll love your experience.
