I only come here about twice a year, but somehow Penny always manages to remember my name. I’ve been going to Quality Optical for about 3 years and I’ve never had a bad experience. A few times when I’ve gone in to order another box of contacts, my prescription has been unavailable and when this has happened Penny has always ordered me a free trial pair so I don’t run out of them. Infinitely better than my old optometrist.

I have a very strong prescription. My lenses usually run $ 300 – 500 at a typical optical shop, but Penny can make them for me for a far more reasonable price. She’s like the Glasses Whisperer. She’ll quickly study your complexion, face shape, etc. and pull frames that work for you. I’ve gone through piles and piles and returned back to the ones that she first suggested. :) Her son, Josh, is always accomodating and very laid back. If I’ve ever had any issues, she’s handled them gracefully and always wanted me to be happy. This is a long-standing, family-owned business that provides better quality glasses and customer service than any of the big chains. For a semi-blind person who doesn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for glasses, Quality Optical is the place for me!

I went back in March to get my eyes checked out I finally wanted to give myself the option to wear contacts during the summer. The owner took time to teach me how to put the contacts in, It took me 40 mins. I got a free box of contacts($ 15) and it came with eyedrops, solution and a case. I highly recommend this place.

You should expect to walk into what looks like a giant, cluttered, walk in closet. However, this hole in the wall on Old World 3rd Street is definitely a gem. The owner is always there, and she seems like she drinks a lot of coffee. She always remembers my face, and never my name. That’s Ok –I just want my insanely cheap contacts! They offer warehouse pricing, because that’s what it is… a mini warehouse. Good service, happy faces, and cheap contacts – can’t go wrong.

I get frustrated and discouraged with all of the major eyeglass stores — $ 100 off, coupons for 2 pairs for $ 149 — discount for AAA members. Penny at Quality Optical is old-fashioned — she just adds up the prices, and the glasses end up cheaper than what you would have paid at LensCrafters, Stein Optical, Target, etc. They have a decent selection of frames, and they have no coupons or scams. I love dealing with them.
