«The Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity ReStore on South 1st Street in the Fifth Ward neighborhood of Milwaukee is your local donation center and home improvement resale store. Proceeds support our mission to build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

We accept donations of used furniture, appliances, cabinetry, building supplies, home décor, antiques, cars, boats and more. Drop off your donation at our store, or contact us to arrange for a pick-​up at your home.

All are welcome to shop our wide selection of gently used home furnishings including sofas, chairs, tables, cabinets and bookshelves. Plus we offer home improvement supplies and building materials such as doors, windows, lighting, flooring and more. Pricing on most items is a fraction of retail cost, and each purchase helps expand affordable home ownership in Milwaukee.»

History

Established in 2013.

The first ReStore opened in Milwaukee in 2006 in West Allis. We later relocated to our current flagship location at 3015 N 114th St, Wauwatosa. In January of 2013 we opened our second location, «ReStore East» at 420 S 1st St, Milwaukee.

I’m a long-​time Habitat for Humanity supporter going back to my days of volunteering on build sites in college. I started working for ReStore in Green Bay, then in 2012 moved to Milwaukee and became Assistant Manager of our Walker’s Point location. I now Manage the store.

This is the only place to donate household appliances and furniture that needs minor repairs. They make donation easy, in addition to the tax deduction you get that good feeling that someone in need will benefit from you finally cleaning the house as some spouse has been asking you to do since, well I’m not going to finish that sentence. If you need a pick up, you’ll have to do it the old fashioned way, call or drop in and make arrangements as no one seems to pay attention to their website. To drop off something big and heavy, hit the second garage door on the Northside of their building. But take the time to peruse their odds and ends for sale inside, for a couple of bucks you can go home with a conversation starter. The staff here are a bunch of saints and angels who are handy with tools.

I love this place! A go-​to for my cheapo furniture needs.
As a recent college grad, I’m not looking to buy an upscale dining room set. Honestly, I’m just looking to acquire enough furniture to fill a one bedroom apartment. They typically have a decent selection in my price range and even above it (I saw two beautiful sofas outside of my price range last time I was on there).
If you’re into some DIY home repairs, this is your place. They have an abundance of cabinetry, doors, sinks, you name it.
Whenever I’m in the area, I swing by to see if they have anything that really catches my eye.

My lovely and I stopped in a few days after our move from Boston, and were pleasantly surprised to find a bad-​ass chair for comfy reading and a washer/​dryer set. We were in luck, too, that the items we wanted also were part of the daily sale, so we ended up paying $ 103 for everything.
I also loved looking through the stains and paints… Very affordable for projects where you might not need exact matches. OH! And we found a cute little hook for our oven mitts.
There were some great finds here; I imagine it’s a spot to visit every once in awhile, just to see if they have that thing you’ve been thinking might be cool for your home.

Sad to see the reviews of this ReStore are not higher! I had a fantastic experience.
Went in to buy some new items for my apartment. Was looking for lamps, a desk, and some photos. Lucky for me there was a sale at the time for 50% lamps and framed photos. Ended up with one lamp that cost $ 2.50 (a steal and it works just great) and maybe 3 photos that cost a total of $ 20. Not only that… I found a great retro desk for $ 8…that is right folks $ 8 for a very sturdy and amazing desk. This must not be the norm but be patient and I think you will find some steals!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Keep in mind that they are mostly volunteers! I’ll be back should I need any additional items for my apartment.

The staff here are tremendously helpful and friendly. I’ve found their prices to be fair, and their display area is much nicer than the old Hawley location I used to frequent.
I found an oak settle with carving on it, that looked turn of the previous century… and it was priced at $ 200. That was exceedingly fair, as they tend to go as high as $ 1500 some places.
This one was really special, with a tri-​panel design which featured turnips on it. When I returned to buy it with a coupon from living social I was informed by the clerk that they had a 20% off furniture sale that day and that I would save $ 12 more if I kept the voucher and just used that discount. That was kind of her.
And the young man who brought it out with me made my day with his humor and willingness to help. He climbed into a tight spot in my minivan to help pull it in place… and had a smile on his face as he squeezed out the side door.
I’ve been there three times, and each time it’s been a positive experience.

I am a huge fan of this location. So convenient. It’s bright and sunny. Clean and nicely organized. The staff is super friendly. I bought the most fabulous chair and footstool combo for $ 25.00 after spending two weekends searching. Don’t overlook it! They get a good range of stuff from cheap (perfect for this gal) and nicer pieces (for other gals).

Dear ReStore East,
I regret to report that you lost a customer on your first shot. In search of windows for craft projects we visited your new Walker’s Point location. You had some fine items indeed, from furniture to vintage hats and stylish lighting. Of particular interest to me was a collection of ottomans. Since I fancy creating my very own home empire, I was keen on these ottomans, knowing that low end ottomans from somewhere like Target start at $ 80+. The ottomans at the ReStore East location had a college lounge feel or corporate waiting room feel. The $ 60 you asked was a stretch so I passed.
Our journey for windows (not kept in stock at the Walker’s point location) took us to the ReStore West location. Low and Behold, there were the same ottomans but for $ 30!!! What? So Restore, do you believe that since you are close to downtown you are able to charge 2 times the amount? Boooooooooo.
This will be a fast track to poor business and lack of customer base building.
