Being a male in a pretty serious committed relationship for the last bunch of years has lead me to the discovery that there are a few different types of car-​repair places out there.
There are places that I would send my girlfriend. These are well-​lit, organized, and clean. Think Autozone, or O’Reilly’s, or someplace like that. I can send her there to pick up wiper blades for herself and I’m pretty sure they’ll help her out and get her what she needs with a minimum of hassle.
Then there are places I would never, ever, send her alone. Miki’s is that kind of place. It’s a dirty, grungy, dilapidated-​looking building. You have to walk through *two* completely unmarked doors before you come to a service counter inhabited by sullen-​looking Eastern European types that look as if they haven’t come out into the light in many years. Everything is covered in several layers of grease and grime and that’s just what I can see in the inadequate light. There are a few rusty looking parts lining the shelves behind the counter, but this doesn’t speak at all to what they have in stock.
You know what though? Those dwarvish looking guys? Nicest people ever. Their seemingly inadequate stock? In fact, nearly limitless. Their customer service? Better than any chain store out there.
I’ve gone to these guys for many things over the years. They will fix your power windows, and your mirrors, and your coolant tanks, and your tires, and your rims, and your windshields. They did all of these things for me at one time or another. They are a junkyard and you can get your parts to go if you wanna do stuff yourself, but they’ll also install most anything for you.
And they’ll do it dirt, dirt, dirt cheap.
Highly recommended by me, but only if you’re not terrified of dark places and have a sense of adventure. If you aren’t/do, you can find yourself a great deal on auto repairs.
