Jen’s is a small liquor store on the corner of 43rd and Howard — you’ll probably never have reason to head here unless you’re in the area, but it’s a perfectly fine South Side liquor store. Here’s what to expect: PRESENT: *Any and all types of domestic beers including Miller, Miller Lite, MGD, Miller 64 and whatever it is that Bud makes these days. A few imports like Corona and Heineken too. *A wine selection that is limited to Arbor Mist and/or Franzia *Liquor — Korbel, Jack Daniels, etc. The«good stuff» is behind the counter — apparently that means Jagermeister? *A fine selection of jerky if you’re ready to SNAPINTO A SLIMJIM *An enormous selection of malt-ernatives, like wine coolers, Mikes Hard Lemonade & Smirnoff Ice. NOTPRESENT: *Château Petrus 1996 *That limited release craft beer you just read about *Bottles of liquor that retail for more than $ 25 *Sustenance outside of pork rinds and jerky SURPRISINGFIND: *Huge bags of pipe tobacco — I mean really big ones. At first, I was like«hey, do they sell dog food here?» Nope — they sell pipe tobacco in the same size bags that my mom’s Yorkie’s food comes in. The people in this area must really be into pipes. In short, Jen’s has what you need when you’re late to a Packer party on the South Side.
