This little gem has the best burgers, especially the Nadar burger. Their fries are perfection! The owner is very personable and they have a loyal group of regulars as well. My husband and I love coming here.

It’s true that the name of the place lured me in during a visit to Milwaukee. My co-worker and I enjoyed a couple of beers and light dinner. I had an appetizer of tortilla chips and a bowl of soup on a cold, wet spring day. The food was solid, as were the beers. And the bar’s friendliness and charm were welcome after a couple of long days.

If you are expecting something more than a dive bar, you have mistake yourself! This here is your classic neighborhood bar. And, quite a fantastic one at that! Here is my reasoning for five stars: This dive bar follows all great dive bar rules. 1) Dim lighting 2) Bartender with an interesting past 3) CHEAPHAPPYHOURDRINKS M-F, 3 – 6 4) Drink etiquette practiced 5) Locals & outsiders alike 6) Pub food 7) Food specials– 50c wing Monday’s Hint: Try the Sriracha Honey sauce! 8) When you ask for an Old Fashion, or such, they won’t ask you how to make it or turn you down because they don’t have the right garnishes. Hence, the perks of a dive bar. I usually come here while on the wait list for PizzaMan, Café Hollander, or Bel Air. Henry’s is a great place to kill time and it goes easy on your wallet. Always great service. Get a seat at the bar or awkwardly cram yourself next to someone on the floor seating.

Their three cheese panini is delicious… I ordered it thrice just to be sure. The homemade vegetable drop soup was also good but their fries are worth a stop-in alone. Update: The quality of the cooking seems to vary depending who is in the kitchen; the quality of the ingredients is consistent and good; I am speaking to the quality of the cooking. When Mike is cooking the paninis are always well grilled/fried and delicious and I’ve stopped ordering if he’s not in the kitchen because that’s my go-to sandwich and I’m hooked on his preparation. Update II: Mike no longer works there. :-(

Henry’s is ok, it is a very relaxed atmosphere with lots of regulars. I am giving Henry’s three stars however because every time I’ve been here it feels a little dirty, almost like a thin layer of grime coats the tables and that just grosses me out a little.

Looking for a dive bar you say? Look no further. Henerys is your basement bar made public. It has a very homey feel to it. It has a tiny bar, and lots of tables and chairs. The bartenders are always nice and are great bar dice companions. They do serve food as well, and I highly recommend their taco night ! Come fast because they go fast. Don’t let the smaller size fool you, it gets packed fast for dinners and brunch. When it’s nice out they do have some table and chairs you can dine outside on. If your looking for a casual night out for a beer or two, this is your place.

Only been here for the Friday night fish fry but it is great! You get so much food for a reasonable price. Fish is cooked well, great coleslaw, and all the other sides are good too. My only con is when it’s busy, and only one waitress, the service gets really slow.

Absolutely awful service, came in during a packers game and they only have two people working in the entire place. Food was very subpar and drinks took ten minutes to come out.

Living in a new neighborhood, I end up having to check out the local options and hope to find a spot to settle on soon. And I’m still hoping… I came here with the roommate on a Tuesday night after we drove by and saw that it was taco night. We figured it was as good a time as any. Alas, they were out of tacos at 7pm. Slightly disappointed, but enjoying my $ 4 High Life(seriously? $ 4? I think it’s cheaper at Hollander), we stayed and ordered burgers and cheese curds. The curds were good, decent portion for price, and cooked properly(cheese was melty(TB term) and they weren’t over-fried). And then I heard the bartendress tell two people next to me that tacos were the special tonight and that she told the kitchen to save them 3 each. Which they proceeded not to order. …really? At this point I rolled my eyes and sighed because it’s my own fault for not being a friend or regular, but whatever. The Naderburger(special seasoning for an upcharge) was okay. The bacon and mushrooms were correct and tasted fine, and the tots were crispy. Service, despite sitting at the bar that only had 6 of us with a captive bartender, was offhand and negligent. Again, my fault for not being a «face» here. I guess that having an empty pair of beer bottles in front of eating customers is less important that asking your friends where they’re getting their next tattoos. I’m pretty sure I won’t be back. And the only thing that keeps me from giving this place one star is that I’m feeling as apathetic as the service.

My sister and I visited on a Monday night after seeing a movie at the Downer. They had $ 1.50 tacos which included a vegetarian option, so we were down. We started off by ordering chips and salsa. At $ 4.50 we felt totally ripped off. The chips were good enough, but they came with the tiniest bit of bland salsa. For $ 4.50, the should at least perfect the chip to salsa ratio! My sisters bean tacos were good enough, but she felt she could have made better ones at home. One of the main complaints was that they used green onion instead of regular onions. She kept eyeing the ones I had on my burger, but stated ‘they were probably covered in meat juice’ so she kept her mitts off of them. Win for me! I had the Napster burger with tots. Both were tasty, but nothing knocked my socks off. But, if you’re craving a basic, well made meaty burger it will do the trick. The pub itself was tiny and loud. Cute enough, but not a great place to want to have a conversation!

One of the best hidden gems on the East side. Came here with a friend to catch a Brewers game after having dinner at Café Hollander. The beer is cheap and the crowd is fun! Been here a few times now, and it’s slowly becoming routine to grab a drink here after work. The bartenders are great! And you really get the sense that this is a neighborhood pub where everyone knows each other. The food is tasty too. I ordered a crispy chicken wrap and fries. I know it’s hard to mess up fries, but these were damn near perfect. I’ll definitely be back!

During one of several food discussions, Chris F. mentioned a strong liking to a burger at Henry’s Pub & Grille. I made a mental note then later added it to my to-do list. I made it in tonight and selected the Nader-Burger. The burger patties are ½ pound, hand-pressed, fresh ground beef patties, but the Nader-Burger has a special seasoning blend added to the beef. I had it topped with swiss, fresh sauteed mushrooms, and thick and crispy strips of bacon because you order a burger the right way or you order a chicken sandwich and call it a day. I ordered my burger medium and chose tater tots for my side. The burger patty is served on a slighter larger burger bun, but the bun is buttered and toasted, so we’re good. A couple of bites in, I noticed the burger was cooked to just under well-done. There was no pink inside whatsoever. HOWEVER, burger juices squirted out with almost every bite, so I’m guessing they cooked it to time rather than using a spatula to squeeze the blood out. I’d order a burger well-done every time if it was as juicy as this burger. The patty was seasoned very well with salt, pepper, and other seasoning, although the black pepper was the flavor that I tasted the most. The swiss cheese was melted over the mushrooms and the two strips of crispy bacon rested on top of the cheese. The burger was also topped with red onion, lettuce and tomato. I set those aside because I just wanted to taste the naughty parts of the burger. The tater tots were cooked well but weren’t seasoned, so I generously applied salt and pepper to them. Maybe next time I’ll choose the soup, but tomato basil didn’t seem to fit the burger theme for me tonight. I’ve crossed another item off of the to-do list and the burger met my expectations. I don’t think I would make a trip back for the burger, considering all of the other burger options in town, but I was not disappointed with this burger. BTW, they also have a Black n Bleu burger with a bleu cheese stuffed patty, which is another popular seller. I’m not a fan of bleu cheese, but it did sound good.

I use to live a stones throw away from this place, and it is one of the hidden gems in Milwaukee. The black and blue burger is delicious, the wings change but if you get them the right week they are delicious. The booze selection is perfect for the small bar that it is with reasonable prices.(usually a rotation of about three taps) One of the best things about this place are the bartenders, they always do a great job running around serving tables and still tending the bar. If you haven’t checked out Henry’s i recommend it.

The burgers here are still fabulous(for the most part) but they forgot my mushrooms(and our red pepper mayor and our honey mustard). The bartender said it was her fault, but I can’t help but think that it was the fault of the cook who was sitting out front drinking with the regulars. I am moving this burger to second with Rumpus Room being #1! This hurts me. I know Lindsay went to Three Lions and I haven’t had a chance to really try the food there, but Lindsay was the fucking bomb!

Descriptive phrase: great burger at the corner pub. Stopped in for dinner at Henry’s Pub & Grille before a show at the nearby Downer Theatre. While Pizza Man next door had a giant wait, we found an open table immediately at Henry’s. It’s a small place, epitomizing the traditional corner pub and grille. Dark wood, L-shaped seating bar, a handful of low tables. There’s a few pieces of giant art to liven up the space, but the locals keep it down to earth. You can tell the people at the bar come here after work every week. They all know each other(and the bartender), and it feels like a neighborhood hangout. I wanted to try their wings and Matt was nice enough to bring out just 4 for me($ 0.50 a pop). They were crispy and had plenty of sauce; I liked the honey bbq better than the sriracha bbq, which was a bit too spicy. A pint of Lakefront Octoberfest was $ 4, ready to cool things down. Katie K. and I each got a Naderburger($ 10.25), their specialty. I got mine with Swiss cheese on top, while Katie’s had bleu cheese grilled inside the patty. Best burger I’ve had to date in Milwaukee. Just everything about it fit perfectly; the toasty bun, the perfectly grilled patty, the melted cheese, the veggie toppings. So, so good. And I never want another burger served without tater-tots. Henry’s were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with plenty of salt. I neeeeeeeed more.

NOT a review of food. We came here for a drink. There was a section next to the small bar where the ceiling was leaking with a bucket placed below to catch [most] the water. Overall it felt very dirty and dinging, with extremely limited and uncomfortable seating. Definition of a dive. The drink itself was too expensive, $ 9. The service was fine, we only interacted with the bar tender. I wouldn’t go back because the environment was uninviting.

The wings here are amazing, had the barbecue wings and the honey sriracha wings, both were some of the best in the city. The prices are also reasonable and the service is pretty quick. Some of the regulars here are total weirdos, including a few mid 20’s guys always looking to chat up other guys they just met; boasting«this is my bar» and«I come here all the time.» Most people seem to get somewhat of an odd uncomfortable feeling from the male bartenders and local regulars, but the female staff here is much better. Also, it’s 2013. Mix in a website and a menu online, maybe? Takes 5 minutes

A friendly, casual pub with a good beer lineup and great food. On a Friday I had the walleye fish fry, it was fantastic. Good sides(toasted rye bread was a nice touch) and the fish was very good. Perhaps on the salty side but what the heck that’s probably what made it taste good. In past visits I was happy with food as well. On this last visit it was busy and 9:30 at night so no one came out to our table to get our order for the first 10 minutes we were there, so I went up to the bar and got menus. This wasn’t a big deal, as they only had two people working the front of the restaurant, just something to keep in mind.

As promised, I have experienced a bit more of what Henry’s has to offer and would love to share my thoughts! As you may already know, Henry’s is a very laid back little pub where most people know each other. A great place to relax and have some affordable drinks. However, there is something that sets it apart… I have now experienced the famous Naderburger. It’s named after the owner, who I presume created it. You can order it many different ways, but my boyfriend and I chose to have blue cheese cooked inside the patty. When we bit into it, we just looked at each other and knew. The bun was warm and slightly toasted, the meat tender, and the blue cheese perfectly placed and portioned inside. They also serve a great side of fries. The service is always excellent, too. My boyfriend was craving some french fries one night and the bartender had already closed up and cleaned the kitchen. He was so cool about it and actually fired up the fryer for us without even blinking an eye. Henry’s…so far, so good!

I had been here a couple times before – the food was great, and the service was fine. I had guests visiting from out of town who were African American, and the owner came out numerous times and just glared at them. The both poor and rude service from our waiter was quite uncomfortable as well. I ordered a bloody mary to drink, and they said they were out of mix, so I ordered a draft beer instead. The server forgot it and didn’t come back to our table once until after our food arrived. I tried to get his attention numerous times to no avail; given the time we waited, I likely would’ve had 3 or 4 beers before the food even came. While the table next to us arrived after us, they received their food about 20 minutes before we received ours.(I should add that other than the bar patrons, we were one of only two tables in the entire restaurant.) A 40 minute beer and RACIST behavior? I live in walking distance from this place, but I don’t believe I’ll be going back. Congrats Henry’s, your message worked.
