Big miss! Our presence was certainly secondary to the employee«girl talk» at end of bar. Sat there for 20 min. Ignored! Expressed displeasure with service in hopes that it would be a learning experience, but no luck. Have had it with the lazy/entitled«feel the Bern» young folks. Where the hell was a competent manager? Left and enjoyed a truly great meal down the street at Carini’s.

It was my first time eating in Shorewood & we were hungry after house hunting! I had a great turkey club(I asked for only 2 not 3 pieces of bread which was perfect!) and it was a large portion. I got a side salad with it which was yummy! The bummer was my mom’s meal… Fish tacos. They were in hard taco shells with no avocado, and no sour cream… Super plain with just white rice on the side. She was definitely disappointed. I’ll try this place again but hope for better than those tacos!

The food was great and the service was good. The onion straws were tasty and the meat came off the ribs with a fork. Would definitely go back next time we are in town. A little pricey but overall a great experience.

We really have no complaints about Harry’s Bar and Grill! To start, they have their own small parking lot, there’s street parking out front, and an additional public lot next to their own lot. There is a fair amount of seating inside along with a bar and outdoor patio. We have tried several of their apps and our favorite so far is the Firecracker Chicken. I love their huge salads and most recently tried their buffalo chicken wrap which was really tasty, but too big of a portion and the second half went to waste. My other half recently tried their fish fry and rated it in his top 3 favorites. The staff is always friendly and prompt, no issues there. We usually feel under dressed here, as it’s the rich older folk of Shorewood that usually occupy this place. The inside almost feels like a dinner club with it’s dark and classy feel. With nice and clean bathrooms, there’s no reason we won’t continue to come to Harry’s for the occasional dinner and drinks :)

I like Harry’s. I’ve only been for happy hour(a few times), so my A-OK review is due to this limited experience. That being said, the happy hour menu is pretty darn good. Monday is the best day for HH, with specials going from 3−10pm. The rest of the week(Tu-Fri) HH runs 3−6pm. Specials include $ 5 martinis, deals on wine and beer, and a limited apps menu. The space is pretty big, with an awesome patio for summer and fall. The food menu is pretty large, including burgers, entrees, appetizers, etc. I’ll have to go back and sample that before I can bump this up to 4 stars.

I’ve been going to Harry’s long enough to give it a solid 5 star review. From the chocolate martini nights of 2006 – 2008, to my Oriental Chicken Salad addition(that lasted MANY years), to the«hey, I haven’t been to Harry’s in ages!», Harry’s is always there and always amazing. My most recent visit was during the Halloween season. The restaurant was decorated in spectacular seasonal spooktacular decorations. Sadly, it was just a bit too chilly for the patio to be open, but they do have a great patio out back. Our waiter was friendly, funny, and efficient. He offered recommendations, which were greatly appreciated. I had the blackened chicken sandwich with fries. Our food came out relatively quickly and everyone loved their order. The fries are perfectly seasoned — they aren’t the run of the mill french fries with salt. They are seasoned waffle fries. My chicken sandwich was perfect(littly zingy but not too spicy) and had an amazing roasted red pepper aoli sauce. We also ordered a cheeseburger to go, for another that was unable to join us at the restaurant. The order came out lightening fast and I heard it was delicious as well. You can park on the street or in the large municipal lot that is just south of the restaurant. If you are in the Shorewood or north East Side area, Harry’s is a great place for lunch or dinner. I love the laid back atmosphere and the food and service is wonderful. As long as I live in the area, I will be coming back for more :)

The burgers were excellent along with the crispy waffle fries. Nice location and atmosphere would definitely recommend to anyone in search of quality American food at a good price.

I has been craving Margherita pizza all week and theirs was so good I ate the whole thing. I also really enjoyed the pesto salmon sandwich. This is one of my favorite local restaurants.

This place has some pretty good appetizers including a delicious pita and humus platter. But as for entrees, this American restaurant doesn’t have a wide variety for vegetarians. But lots if you’re a fan of seafood and meat.

The food here is ok if you like food from a food court in the airport. The décor is strikingly similar, decent if you enjoy a cheap sense of style. The service is sub par as well. I came in the other day with my family and was ignored for a good ten minutes before we finally were acknowledged by what looked like the manager. They seemed busy but that’s not excuse for being rude. This place seems cheap and poorly run. Definitely will not be returning!

A group of my friends were in town from all over the country for a funeral after one of our friends died in an accident. We wanted to all get together for dinner after the wake and we originally made a reservation only for 8 for dinner. About an hour before the wake, I heard that maybe a couple more people would be coming, so I called and increased the reservation to 10. After getting to the wake, I found that a lot of people had been inviting a lot more people. Such to the point that they asked me to call and alter the reservation again. We were up to about anywhere between 15 — 25 people now. The manager, Matt, said that they couldn’t increase the reservation again, but would do everything they could to accommodate us once we arrived. They delivered for sure. Upon getting there, we found a table set for 12. But they quickly told us that they would be adding more and soon we had more tables pushed up and enough room for 16. More people arrived over the next hour or so and Matt and his staff continued to make sure we had enough room, even going so far as to keep a second nearby table open in case we needed it. TL;DR: They accommodated our every need, despite us being very needy/difficult at times. Also, our server, Tiffany, was great. Kind, remembered every drink and food order, good humor, and was happy to take a photo of all of us at the end of our meal. Overall just a great performance by management, our waitress, and other staff.

First of all, I *love* it when restaurants take reservations and allow them to be made online. Big, big plus for me. We made a reservation for a Friday night and when we got there, no wait at all — taken right to our table. LOVE that. Secondly, I’m a big fan of places like this that have a million diverse menu options. Something for everyone, even the pickiest eater in your crew. Great menu + good service and lots of yummy-sounding food, though I would like to talk to the chef about how to make good nachos. Our nachos were a beautiful pile of tri-colored chips but good nachos have the cheese & sour cream & chicken distributed throughout. These didn’t. Lots of sad chips missing totally devoid of toppings in these nachos. And my beet salad had hardly any beets in it, though the pistachios and goat cheese = yum. The Boyfriend loved his messy whiskey burger, though, and our cocktails were also super tasty. I would totally go back and if we lived nearby, I could see going to Harry’s regularly.

I love having Harry’s right in my neighborhood! In the summer, the outside patio is terrific. In the winter, the paneled interior is warm and cozy. The food is always high quality and the martinis are great. I almost always get the pear martini when I am here. What is prompting me to write this review is that I was at Harry’s last Friday with my husband and a friend and we ordered dessert. They had a gluten free«September 7th» cake that I just had to try. WOW!!! This was the most delicious, moist, spongy, fantastic gluten-free cake I have ever had. They served us an enormous slice, truly enough for three or four people to eat. It was chocolate sponge cake filled with a vanilla mousse, all topped by espresso frosting. To. Die. For.

Honestly a little surprised to see the reviews so low! Love this place with it’s convenient location close to UWM’s campus. Harry’s feels like a place I’m not grown up enough to visit looking in from the outside but after I walk through the threshold, I always feel welcomed. It just has a nicer feel than some of the other restaurants in the area. Happy hour is great… martini’s for $ 5? I’m sold. Three please. The food overall is very solid. I’ve made some big changes to my diet recently and I was able to find a salad that seemed oddly healthy. Tons of Spinach, potatoes and Salmon though it was a simple combination I ate what was probably a full bag of spinach in one setting. What I always like is that the staff is willing to work with people based on the different requests they make. Went with a bigger group not too long ago and they were able to get all of our requests correct. Overall, very solid restaurant with good service and food.

Made the mistake of ordering the drink«special,» a margarita. Non-potable. Should come with an insulin shot on the side. Waitress commented that she could sell us their«good» margarita and that they use a cheap mix for folks who order the special. She would have to charge us the full price of course. Yup, I feel special, but appreciate her honesty. Don’t stray from the beer. Food is always just ok. They have never succeeded in cooking a burger«medium» for us and I’ve come to accept they never will. Service is always inexperienced, even though many familiar faces here on staff. I think we are writing off Harry’s. Want to like it, but mostly because they are close, not because they are good.

The food here is good. The prices are a little steep — comparable to something like a Trocadero. They have quite the variety of menu options. The thing that brings this place down is the service. It’s as if the servers think they are better than you, which kind of contrasts the whole«server» thing.

Came here with my uncle and was surprised by the happy hour specials: $ 2 tap beers and $ 5 appetizers. Can’t beat it. Cool atmosphere, very friendly staff, diverse crowd.

Well, I gave Harry’s two tries. It is very convenient to my home and the best part, it is an easy diversion off the Oak Leaf Trail if I need dinner on the way home from work. Given these factors, I am sure I will return, but so far not for the food. First time, I had the Shorewood Salad. Sounded like a home run, signature salad. The ingredients were all fresh. The problem was this salad a little greek(kalamato olives), a little mexican(tortilla strips), a lot of American chopped salad components(bacon, tomatoes, blue cheese and hard boiled eggs) and a lot of an non-impressive creamy garlic dressing(i.e. ranch). Since everything was fresh and tasted good, I can try another, less confused salad on the next visit. Second time was tonight for the Friday Night Fish Fry, which I had read in other reviews was«good» to «best». My rating is «not so much». The fish was good sized cod and the beer batter would have probably been perfect if it hadn’t been fried an hour or so before it was served and sat under the warming lights so the batter got soggy instead of crispy. The cole slaw accompaniment looked like it had been made weeks ago. It was kind of compressed looking and had an old tint to it. It didn’t taste rotten, but it didn’t taste good either. When I commented on this to the waitress, she assured me that it was made fresh every Friday and allowed to «marinate». I said, I guess I just don’t like it then. Since Cole Slaw is a standard with fish fry, I suggest the Chef work on his recipe. The waffle fries were very good. Fresh and crisp out of the fried and seasoned very well. Several have commented on the atmosphere. It is an older crowd and a little dark with the faux wood flooring and paneling. I don’t find the gold lamps offensive. Since I am continually seeking a good fish fry place with Myers Rum for my mother, I thought the atmosphere was nice. The pergola-covered back deck would have been very inviting if not for the rain tonight. Others have negatively reviewed the service. My service both nights was fine. I had to wait a bit at different times, but nothing out of the ordinary. Tonight(Friay), it was quite crowded with older folks. As these types of patrons can be quite demanding(understatement of the year!), I thought the service was pretty good. Next time, I’ll try one of their burgers, since they have also gotten good reviews. I cannot pass up the convenience of this place on my bike ride home from work, so I have to give them a fair trial.

One of my favorite restaurants in the Milwaukee area. The new layout accommodates more people now, which is good since they are regularly crowded. The loveseat barstools are awkward. It’s hard to pull out and get into the seating side, particularly when crowded. The menu has some newer items and I really enjoyed the New York Strip. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The only beef I had was that a wrong drink order was delivered and, though I rejected it immediately, it showed up on my bill. Good thing I check the details of my bills. I didn’t get any apology for the mistake. It was fixed promptly though – still, would have liked some acknowledgement that she messed up and almost over charged me. Still, I love the place so I give it 5 stars.
