History

Established in 2004.

Owner Michael Madson got into the construction field in 1999. After working for a home builder, and later a painting company, Michael saw a tremendous opportunity to create a solid painting business. He apprenticed with yet one more company that specialized in interior painting, and then created Colorwheel in 2004. Since that time, Colorwheel has steadily grown, and has had it’s best year on record in the midst of a major recession.

Michael Madson started life in Cleveland, Ohio –headquarters of the Sherwin Williams Company. From the age of 7 to 19, he lived in Green Bay. Michael attended the University of Minnesota, graduated with honors, and a major in Entre Business Management. Now residing in Milwaukee, he runs his company from a home office.

In Michael’s spare time, he loves to travel, and has been to 5⁄7 of the worlds continents, and over 35 countries. Additionally, Michael does pencil portrait drawings, home remodeling, product development, and lots of playing with his dog at local parks.

ColorWheel Painting just completed an interior painting project at our Whitefish Bay home and we could not be more pleased!
The week long job included various room types, ceilings and walls, detail work, and entryway work, as well as multiple paint matching challenges. Mike and his crew were truly professional and met every one of these (sometime challenging) aspects of the job. Mike’s detailed bid guided the three person crew who arrived each day right on time. The prep work included great care protecting floors and furnishings along with relying on Frog Tape to insure proper borders. When a additional (minor) piece was added to the job, Mike was quick to respond, he gave me a verbal estimate of the cost, and kept to his word.
Upon completion, there were a few tiny details we noticed that needed to be taken care of and ColorWheel sent one of the crew members to handle it the same day.
Mike then came out the very next day to inspect and approve the full completion of the job.
Based only on our one experience with ColorWheel, I do not know if everyone will have the same stellar experience that we did, but we can truly state that it was the best home improvement scenario that we could have asked for.

As first time homeowners, we wanted a home with character and personality. We moved into our 1920’s Bungalow two years ago and have since added our own flare to the interior. Last Spring, we realized the exterior of our home was in need of some TLC; the wood siding had paint chipping off, the color was fading, and we knew it would be a huge job. We wanted to find someone knowledgeable enough to handle our older complex home and was willing to work with us. Mike and his crew were extremely helpful, informative, and friendly. To say we were pleased would be an understatement. The house is outstanding and the quality of work was top notch. We would recommend Colorwheel Painting to anyone, they exceeded our expectations and beyond!

As the corporate point of contact for a lot of large scale projects, I have hired Colorwheel Painting several times now. Mike and his crew are top notch. I always know I am getting a fair price. His crew is clean, friendly and excellent at what they do. I could not recommend him more. Home or business, they are definitely worth the call. We had a wonderful experience with Mike and his crew of painters, and our home looks beautiful now! We had a few little snafus to deal with– Mike worked with us on some payment issues that were stemming from our recent refinance. He signed a contract with our neighbors who were skittish about allowing the crew access to their yard after a previous bad experience when another neighbors house was painted. He graciously dealt with these issues and had our house painted right on time.
Pros–
Very professional crew who were easy to communicate with. You could tell that painting was the career that these men had chosen and they very much cared that things were done right.
Very clean. One of our neighbors recently had his house painted, and I was pretty appalled at the amount of paint chips left in our yard. Mike and his crew didn’t leave behind a single stray paint chip.
They were very respectful of our landscaping, and only put a ladder on something if absolutely necessary.
They were done quickly, and at a very reasonable price.
Helped guide us with color selection
Cons–
Like any contractor, he could be difficult to get on the phone, but responded to emails quickly and had our house done on time. Not even really a con!
