Great service! Ordered the catfish fillet with eggs and potatoes. At first I thought the catfish was small however, I walked away more than full(I guess my eyes were bigger than my stomach). The homemade biscuits were also delicious! I will definitely be back!

First-I came in with a coupon and they gave me absolutely NOPROBLEMS when I used it. Some places will give you the stank face when you pull out a coupon, So there’s one star there. Second– We ordered the chicken with waffles and fried chicken sandwich to go. She asked us if we wanted to add fries, so I added them because she was nice enough to ask. She gave us our total and we waited in the extremely clean dining area. Add the second star here. Third-It took about thirty minutes for the food to arrive, but another lady was kind enough to tell us half way that the food was almost ready. We honestly didn’t mind because I don’t play when it comes to poultry, so take your time cooking it, baby, Take Yo Time. Add the third star here. Fourth-When she brought us our food, she offered both of us complimentary soda for the extended wait *time for the happy dance*. Don’t mind if I do! Add the fourth star here. Fifth-Time for the moment of truth… Chicken and Waffles– Soft, Pillowy and just simply delicious waffles. The butter melted right in it’s rectangular shaped wrapping paper from the heat of the chicken and waffles. Ohhhh, baby, those waffles soaked up that buttah while we drove home. Mmmmmmm, yaaaaasssss, you bettah work! That crispy chicken. That crispaaaaaaayyy chicken. That crispy chicken was juicy, lightly crispy, perfectly seasoned and easy to cut. I almost forgot how to share. I blacked out and had a moment, ya’ll. I poured that syrup over that thick succulent chicken and belgian waffle. I think I heard a sermon. Preach Preachaaaaaa. Add the fifth star now!!! Fried Chicken Sandwich-Awwwwww, here comes that chicken, again! Yaaaassssss. That chicken is fire, baby. Yummy. The bread was soft. The lettuce looked like it took a beating and the tomato was hanging on for dear life, but that chicken. Let’s go back to that damn chicken. Just give me some chicken, bread, mayo and a bib.

Mixed emotions about this place. When we walked in, a lady behind the bar told us to sit anywhere we would like. After a few minutes she brought us over some water and then took our drink orders. After she took our food order, it literally(with no exaggeration) took over 35 minutes to get our food. When I asked her about it, she told me that it should be ready soon. I think someone should have came to us(before I came to them) and informed us that the kitchen was backed-up. So, customer service was lacking on that end. Offer us some complimentary toast or something. We were pretty hungry and became frustrated regarding the amount of time we had to wait. Now, the food was pretty damn good. I ordered the steak and eggs(and while I asked for my steak to be medium well, it was cooked well done) with home fries. I loved the home fries. I could have lived without them adding cheese to it. The eggs were perfect. Seriously. I haven’t had eggs that good in a while. The steak was good, despite the fact that it was well done. The server who brought us our food(I think his name was Charlie) made up for the bad customer service we experienced earlier with the other lady. He was super attentive and did a bit of running around for us when we requested a few condiments. I would come back here because the food is pretty good. I would just have to mentally prepare myself for mediocre service.

Good food. GREAT Mango Tea. Service is S L O W as ever. I had Catfish, eggs & grits. I asked for my eggs scrambled hard with cheese. Well they came out softer dinnamugg with ZERO cheese. Send them back AGAIN I specify HARD with American cheese. Guess what? I got them back yet again soft with shredded CHEDDAR! Soooooo I digress there went the good tip. The potatoes with the works are awesome. Chicken & waffles too.

We came in on a Sunday morning. My hub had the chicken and waffles, and I had the traditional breakfast. The chicken and waffle were excellent. The chicken was very tender and juicy with a perfect coating My meal included the potatoes with everything. Decadent and flavorful. My daughter kept sneaking bites. The eggs over easy had wonderfully complex seasoning – probably an indicator of what it was fried in. But this isn’t a health club so get over it. I will say that my eggs, while tasty, were borderline cold. My daughter did notice other people around us were waited on more quickly – including people who walked in after we were seated and had placed our order. The coffee was good and we liked all the posters and art, and the two gentlemen playing chess(I had to drag my daughter away from watching). We will probably visit again.

The mango tea is the best. Nice establishment in terms of décor. If you have time to kill, this is the place. But if have somewhere to be, go somewhere else. You need to be aware that your wait time will be something like…#forever. Every time I’ve been, with the exception of once, we waited too long for our entrees. I’ve come with co-workers twice, last time we decided we won’t be back unfortunately. The customer service from the waitstaff was too poor. I like to support local businesses, but come on, we gotta do better with the people skills and customer service. If I had any suggestion for the owner it would to work on training the waitstaff or taking them to a restaurant so they can observe other waiters. I’ve talked to several people who said they won’t come back. I’ll come back… if things improve.

Went there today. Service was great. Nice ladies that greeted me. Showed me menu and kinda nothing stand out to me. Nothing that any other place has. Also no drinks on menu with prices. I tried it because i like to support local black businesses in anyway i can. Now like i said the service was great. Now the food on the other hand wasnt so great. I ordered a polish egg and cheese on toast which was not on menu i had to create it(should be on menu on any black owned restaurant menu) and also ordered pancakes. Stayed with water because again didnt see drinks on menu. The sandwich was ok. Wasnt the best but i ate it. Pancakes were the worst thing i ever had in my life. I done been to many of places in Milwaukee and surrounding areas. and those were the worst ever ever ever had. To greasy like the were fried in grease over all ok place but would not make this my new go to place since Lyles closed

Locally owned coffee shop that doubles and triples as a place to eat a bit, have some coffee, and have a meeting if you wish. I have been here on more than one occasion for various reasons. Ive been here for a policy council meeting as well as a meeting and showcase for the positive African American Youth in the area. Other times i have sat to catch up with friends over coffee. I didn’t drink the coffee but i didn’t enjoy the chicken and waffles! This place isn’t about speedy service, its about the local atmosphere and the commodore between the neighborhood, the establishment, and the patron. Sit for a while and enjoy.
