Rhonda’s Aviary is a locally owned and operated specialty bird store in operation since 2005. We have expanded to include tropical fish, reptiles and sugar gliders. With 2,600 square feet of toys, cages, birds and over 50 food bins you’re sure to find something your feathered babies will love! Can’t find what you need for your pet? Although we specialize in exotic birds we can also special order products for your other pets as well. Like high end brands, gluten free, rice based, vegetarian and even flea medications.

History

Established in 2006.

It all started with my love affair with the rare and beautiful, Lady Gouldian Finch. I got my first pair in 2002. I had great success in breeding them. I even hand-​fed many. Soon I had to have one of every color. I went to bird fair to find more rare colors, trade with other vendors and soon began selling there also. Hobby became obsession and next thing I knew I had a business license and opening up a little indoor shop at the Pea Ridge Flea market. I worked a full time job, worked the flea market on the weekends and had a booming Ebay store at night as a Power Seller. In 2009 I moved to my current location at the Rockwell Plaza. It didn’t take long to start to outgrow my little store. In 2012 I opened up the wall and took over the space next to me. Whew! Now we can breathe a little better. (Honestly, we’re a little crowded still…) I sure can fill up a store!

I work nights, weekends, holidays and I still love my job. There are no breaks or vacations when you work with animals. Baby birds require around the clock care. Ever since I was a child I would look into the eyes of an animal and see a soul there. Personality. Intelligence. Companionship. It is my hope that I can contribute in some way in helping another person to see the amazing qualities that animals possess and find pleasure in sharing their life with them.

Now I am even more impressed with Rhonda, the owner of this business. One of my finches got hung on it’s nest and broke it’s little leg. I phoned Rhonda for advice about what to do and she told me to bring it in for her to set it and keep it for me so that I would not have to see it suffer. She assured me that it would be fine after setting it and that it could live a normal life and that if it couldn’t live a normal (bird normal I guess is perching etc.) that she could take it to another lady that has an indoor/​outdoor aviary for rescued birds. She didn’t have to do this. I was so relieved and so impressed that she cared about one little bird that retailed for less than $ 20. This will be my source for any future bird purchases. I just want to thank you Rhonda for your true love and compassion for all Gods little creatures.

i went there once to look into getting my mother a bird. the woman ignored me totally. she had one other customer and i waited and waited and she just never spoke to me. so i walked out and emailed her. she was apologetic but i never went back. looked like they had lots of stuff but if you cant be waited on before the sell, how will they treat you after the sell if you need something?

Terrible place! shopped local and got burned. Bought a bird, and cage over 220.00. Bird died shortly after went back to rhondas were they proceeded to give us, a do and don’t list for this bird like… don’t cook with Teflon pans, dog hair kills, halogen lights etc etc. Why were we not given this list when we purchased the bird? was asked of Ronda she said it wasn’t her responsibility to educate on these matters. Well if giving us two pieces of black and white paper is an inconvenience then she shouldnt be in business. This bird and bird cage was purchased by a 8 year old who saved her allowance to buy. With child and bird in hand we spoke to Ronda she was so unsympathetic and uncaring basically said all I can do for u is give u a card to go have a bird autopsy done at our expense. Kept saying it was policy blah blah. Well you are the owner u make the policy. We were not asking for a full refund just for her to replace this cockateil with a couple parakeets. This would have been about 10.00 her cost out of her pocket. But no wouldn’t even consider. We feel Rhonda withheld the do and don’t info from us to make a sale bottom line. If we had gone to a big box store there would have been no questions asked refund. We just moved to the area and have 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs so we always need food, supplies and toys. So for her lack of caring she probably lost 1000.00 dollars a year in business from us all over 10.00 dollars and a bad attitude. I will let everyone I come across about this but will also give kudos if she does the right thing. Ronda you have our number will you do the right thing?
