Pettit’s Lakeview Campground

I have eaten here 3 times now and have been disappointed each and every time. The food is way too over-​priced for the cheap quality. Nice place to have a drink but that’s about it. Save your meal for somewhere else!

As always service was great today. Everyone is always welcoming and the food top notch. Can’t wait fot boating weather when we can sit outside and enjoy drinks with friends.

While the campground itself was fine, our experience with the owner left us resolved to never go back again, nor recommend to anyone.
We rented one of their rental campers for one night. Check in went fine, and we proceeded to the camper and unpacked our vehicles. After spending the afternoon sitting by the lake, we went back to the camper to change and eat. Upon turning on the water to wash our hands, we found that the water smelled disgusting, a mix between sulfer and sewer water, even after letting it run for quite some time. We eventually went outside and washed our hands under the spigot, and figured we could deal with the water issue, as we were only there for one night. Next problem, we found out the oven did not work, which was a problem as what we had brought to eat required baking, and the unit was advertised with a refrigerator, oven/​stove and microwave. Finally, I went to take a quick shower to wash off the lake water and found that the knob used to start the shower was broken off, leaving no way to redirect the water to the shower head. At this point we called the office and were told someone would be by to check it out. Minutes later the owner showed up, after relating to him the problems we had encountered (and we were simply hoping for perhaps a partial refund as the unit we had rented was not as advertised) he told us ‘we have a no b***c policy, so you can either leave now and I’ll refund your money, or you can stay and pay for it.’ We elected to leave, more because of the owner’s attitude and the fact that he clearly did not care whether we were unhappy or not.
Trying to get a refund at the office was a whole problem in itself. After 15 minutes of standing there, we were finally told that they could not find our receipt, and that we should contact our credit card company and instruct them to reverse the charges.
On a whole, I’d rather go somewhere where the owner/​management is concerned with happy customers (happy customers will come back, and will recommend to their friends and family, unhappy customers will tell everyone they know what a crappy experience they had, and we definitely will!) Avoid this place with its stinky water and non-​maintained rental units!!!
