Description

Specialties

Dave «Dave-the-Baker» Meltzer, has plied his trade in every kind of bakery imaginable — from behemouth commercial operations to small local bakeries. From «Franken Dough» to artisan eats. He’s intimate with bagels and bialys and passionate about confections.

This attracted Bob Pollock, owner of the luxurious Hudson Valley estate know as Buttermilk Falls Inn + Spa and Henry’s at the Farm Restaurant in Milton NY. Bob arranged for Dave to provide breads for his inn and restaurant.

When Pollock declared to Dave, «Let’s build a bakery!», the result was Frida’s Bakery + Café, which shares its name with Pollock’s daughter, just as Henry’s at the Farm bears his son’s name.

The Hudson Valley hamlet of Milton NY, was ripe for a little Renaissance and Pollock was up to the challenge of creating small, viable businesses there.

With his childhood cookbook and greatest influence, «Love and Knishes», tucked firmly under his arm, Dave-the-Baker carries on… doing what he knows and loves best.

Managed by Buttermilk Falls Inn + Spa, Frida’s Bakery + Café brings the quality, service and hospitality you’ve come to expect from our team. Offering artisan breads, pastries, and coffees, Frida’s also presents house-made breakfast and lunch options.
