Location: Milpitas Square with Ranch 99; setting: traditional Chinese restaurant in small size: 7 round tables for 6 people or more, and over 10 square tables to serve 2 or to be combined for 4. Food: traditional Shanghai food. We love the type of food because Shanghainese is always my favorite; we came here often for the past twenty years; but the lunch was disappointing as Small Wonton was way too big and could be called Big Wonton. And the taste is not as good as before. I would rate my lunch 2 Star and never come back if it were my first time.

Small shop. Average food. Utensils dirty. A lot of restaurants to choose from in this shopping mall though.

Surprisingly, they do include 18% tip in your bill without asking!(Probably it was written somewhere in small font, but it was obviously invisible to us.) There are other Shanghai style restaurants out there that serve better food than theirs. None of their food that we ordered was good enough for us to return there for lunch or dinner. Although their service itself wasn’t bad, we wish the amount of tip were up to each customer. Their food just isn’t worth the 18% tip.

The food is decent and the service is okay but they never check on our food. we came here on Thursday lunch and it is not even packed. We sat there for 30 mins and nothing came out. This place would be better if they can follow up with the kitchen.

I loved my lunch here. Came with a bunch of people and ordered the Shanghai rice, Mapo tofu(I’ll pass on this next time), and sizzling pepper beef. I’m coming back soon to enjoy more.

Came here because I was so craving for pan fired dumplings after coming back from LA eating the best ones in Shanghai No 1. Oh boy did I dig a whole for myself ! They made the worst ones possible: none puffy soft dough, dead meat ball inside, I did not finish even one! Lesson: don’t eat pan fried dumplings ever in North Cal after you have them in La. Luckily their rice ball in wine soup is good.

Forcing customer 20% fixed tips without informing them beforehand is fraudulent! If the restaurant feels 20% is needed for operations and maintaining employees wage level, please add the amount to the price on menu or inform customers before they order. We, as customers, have the right to know it before deciding to eat at this place.

Food is pretty authentic and reasonably priced. Too oily, but flavors were on point. Nothing particularly mind-blowing about any dishes we ordered. From the minute we walked in, the servers were rude. It seemed like we were inconveniencing them a little bit by eating there.

3.5 stars but rounding down since the Shanghai dumplings/xiao long bao were just ok. However, this place is a great value for your money! We came for a late lunch around 1:30pm on a Sunday, and the restaurant was around half full at that time. We were seated right away, and ordered: –Shanghai Steamed Juicy Pork Buns(8/$ 6.95, ): Ok, but the skin was a little too thick and the pork filling needed more salt. I wouldn’t order this again. –Za Jian Mein($ 6.50, ): Yum! The noodles seemed almost more of a ramen style noodle, but the sauce was really flavorful. They also give you a huge portion– highly recommended! Service wasn’t too bad– they were attentive enough and spoke good English. I liked that they have an extensive menu, and the dishes are on the cheaper side. I hope to come back and try some of their other dishes! Parking in this center can be tough during the lunch rushes, but spots on this side of the plaza should be slightly easier to find.

They have such a great variety of food and you can find whatever you like. The price is reasonable.

I came here with a group of 7 and we were seated right away when we came for lunch on a Sunday. This is your typical Chinese restaurant. My friend was the one who introduced us to this place and so he ended up ordering everything for us. I had no idea what the dishes were called but they were pretty good! I love the clay pot rice with the Chinese broccoli the most. I usually get that whenever I go Shanghai restaurants. We also got those giant meat balls, which were delicious. The eggplants were also good but I could be a little biased because I love eggplants. We also got some appetizer/cold dishes. I don’t know the name of them but they were pretty interesting. The food here is pretty great. I am giving this restaurant a 3 stars only because of how oily the food were. I know Chinese food tends to be this way, but it was pretty oily and I really didn’t like that part too much. Overall, I would come back again(even though I can’t stand the oil haha). The price is reasonable, too. It’s pretty good and I do enjoy the food. It’s worth a try to say the least.

I don’t typically write reviews but when I feel that the line has been crossed I have to share it! TERRIBLE service. I wanted to try the xlb but the lady said I had to order $ 8 minimum so I told her I would have to look over the menu again. Literally 2 minutes later I told her I wouldn’t be dining there bc I only wanted to only try the xlb she said I would have to take my order to go bc I had already placed my order. I told her I did not place any order and she called me a liar! Not worth the rude behavior. Try Shanghai Dumpling in Cupertino! It’s worth it!

I came here for desserts only and this review is only for the 8 treasure rice dessert. i do not expect it to be traditionally perfect when i ordered it. however, made with plain sweet rice and very little mashed red bean paste in the center, sprinkled black rice, pinch of pine nuts, and a couple of red and green colored«something» can hardly be qualified to be called 8 treasure. if they don’t have the right ingredients to make the dessert, they should not sell it. feel totally cheated.

This no longer the restaurant I used to really enjoy. The beef in the water-boiled beef is really floury, and the flavor is different(although still good). The Chef’s Special Tofu sauce is too sticky and glutinous, and the flavor isn’t very good. I was very disappointed by the Shanghai-style pan-fried rice cakes; they were way too soft, and the flavor was lacking. I’m sad that what used to be a pretty good restaurant where I would want to regularly eat at has gone down significantly in quality. Still edible, but I won’t be coming back.

I’m just going to leave a rating instead of a full review. The food was slightly below average for a Shanghai restaurant. Service wasn’t very good, but that’s typical for Chinese restaurants. Also, dish portions were small. It was very crowded during the weekend dinner.

My family and I have been here countless times for weekend get-togethers and Shanghai Delight has been consistent & good to us for a very long time. Great place for authentic tasting Chinese food. They have an extensive menu with decently priced items. Of the dishes we’ve tried, my favorite has got to be the breaded eggplant. It’s delicious but may be on the salty side for people who aren’t used to eating deep-fried Chinese menu items. Other menu items are seasoned well and not too oily. I also don’t get that after taste in my mouth that usually comes from dishes that are loaded with MSG which is a plus. I also really like their tofu dishes & fish dishes. Xiao Long Bao is not that great here, kinda dry, and the skin is way too thick. If you like XLB’s, get them from My Dumpling instead. Service is pretty good but definitely come with a Chinese speaker if it’s your first time. They don’t have very many(if any) fluent English speaking staff.

Delicious!!! One of my favorite Chinese restaurants. I usually don’t like shanghainese food but this one is exceptional. I always eat here every time j come to milpitas. Cabbage in a dry hot pot — is amazing! The bacon flavor comes with spiciness. Best veggie dish I’ve ever had. Tilapia in spicy sauce — I always clean up the whole plate. The ground pork comes with it and the sauce is exceptional but a bit salty. The pumpkin and dried yam are very good too. I love this place. It’s a 4.5 stars to me.
