The Milpitas’ Barbara Lee Senior Center provides programs that meet the individual needs of seniors, promote personal growth, and socialization and foster feelings of achievement, companionship and well-being.
Senior Center is for adults 50 years and older. A Senior Center Membership/Activity Card is required to participate in all program (paid and drop-in), classes and trips with the exception of Lunch Program and Bingo sessions. The fee is $ 12 for Milpitas residents and $ 30 for non-residents.
History
Established in 1983.
The Milpitas Senior Center opened at the historic N. Main Street address in 1983 and offered a place for senior to go and enjoy for 19 years. After moving to the Sal Cracolice Building in 2002, the center was named for Council Member Barbara Lee.
Barbara Lee served as City Councilwoman and was our first woman vice mayor. She served on the Community Advisory and Planning Commissions and worked tirelessly for local and regional programs that still serve children, women and seniors today.
The Barbara Lee Senior Center is also home to the Denny Weisgerber Community Room. Denny, a 3 time City of Milpitas Mayor served over a decade on the Milpitas City Council. He offers a lifetime of service to country and community. He is a Decorated Korean War veterans and Navy Cross recipient.
The current Barbara Lee Senior Center opened in 2010 at 40 North Milpitas Blvd & offers a fitness center, 3 classrooms, game room, public computers and large state of the art auditorium available for rental

Stephanie Douglas became the newest member of Milpitas Recreation Services’ on November 5, 2012. She supervised the Senior Center and Community Center. Stephanie has worked 15 years in Recreation and Senior Services, most recently for the City of Redwood City and Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation.
