Milpitas Pediatrics

Dr. Abellera was my pediatrician and now is my daughters I have known her all my life and she and her lovely staff is like family. Dr. Abellera treats her patients with kindness and is always concerned with what is going on. Doctor is on call so after hours she is willing to help and get you through those rough sleepless nights. I trust her 100% and when it comes to your children you want to feel safe when you put their health in someone else’s hands. Her staff is the best from her scheduler Jonathan to her assistants they all do such an amazing job. I don’t know what I will do when she retires.

I wanted to write review for so long and keep forgetting. if you have an infant you know that you kid would have fever or rash here and there. Dr Abellera is okay at treating but then you go home you see a bill from her. If you ask question on his well being, –sorry — be ready for a bill to send to you. My son is 2 yrs old and i feel like i pay almost every time his visit. One time i got a bill because she was checking on my son more than 25 mins ?? wtf. seriously? i’m going to switch doctor for his 2 yrs old check up.

Minus one star do to the fact it could be slow sometimes. However I love dr. Abellera! She was my pediatrician since I was born and growing up I’ve always had pleasant experiences with her! I was never scared to come to my dr. Appointments because of her! she is excellent with kids and so is her staff! So I’m proud to say my daughter is now seeing her and dr. Abellera still has it!

Just moved to the area and needed to take my daughter for her annual physical. This is probably standard practice, but they needed to verify my insurance info first before even scheduling the appointment? (Boo!) I waited over 4 days for someone to call me back, and since they didn’t, I called them and was finally able to set a date.
Waiting room is fine, had a TV to keep the kids busy. Dr. Abellera took her time and definitely made me and my daughters feel comfortable. (They definitely liked the sugar free lollipops and stickers at the end of the appointment.)

I’m sorry… I have to share my honest opinion. I have been pretty upset these past couple of months.
1. Process of changing from our previous pediatrician to Dr. Abellera was difficult. Her staff took a while to confirm medical coverage with our insurance provider. I called them more than once to check the status.
2. No opportunity to interview doctor prior to scheduling first appointment. I was told «let us check your insurance coverage first and then we can talk about if you can have a meeting with the doctor».
3. Cattle call atmosphere. She is super busy and has many patients. No feeling of personal attention. We had an appointment late Friday afternoon, it felt like a germ bed in the waiting room.
4. No phone reminder for appointment. I heard that they do reminders, but for some reason, we didn’t receive any.
5. Phone calls not returned within reasonable time. Expect a call usually within 48 hours or more (not like what their answering message says which is within 4 hrs).
6. Cancelling an appointment is difficult. Called to cancel. Received confirmation that appointment was cancelled. A few days later, received reminder of my original appointment. HmMmMmMm?
Finding the right pediatrician isn’t the easiest thing. Dr. Abellera was really nice when we finally met her, but her office operations have not been up to par. We will be seeing a new doctor.

i have to admit that the first time i met dr. abellera, i was wondering if the referral i got from my aunt was just her way of getting back at me for the crappy christmas gift i got her the year prior…
people always remember their first impression of others. i saw dr. abellera in the hallway writing before i actually MET her in the room with my son. she was quiet, seemed a bit stern, and didn’t crack one smile! lol. i was scared. BUT– was she the BEST pediatrician for my children? ABSOLUTELY. as soon as she went to see my son, she lit up like a christmas tree. she’s great with kids, and gives them airplanes all the time with of course, her sugar free lollipops. =) she’s very thorough in her physical exams, and when she says she’ll get back to you that day (for lab results, etc.) she really does. she doesn’t make an MA or an operator call for her. as busy as she is, she finds time. i don’t know how she does it!
abellera medical group is one of the busiest clinics in the area, but it’s easy to understand why. she is amazing with children, and their families. her staff, no matter how busy, always finds a way to fit your child in, even when there are times that you have to book your check-​ups a month and a half in advance. the ladies at the front desk are so sweet, as well as the MA’s that assist you to the exam room. i have never had anything to complain about. also, within the last year, i know she brought in a PA to help with the crazy schedule, who is equally as nice and thorough, and we never have a visit where we only see the PA. dr. abellera always pops in even if its just to say hello or comfort my kids who might not be feeling too great that day. as busy as it is, she seems to always want to keep that personal contact and relationship going.
if you want the best for your kids, take them here. (if you can get fit in, lol).
i’ve heard that she has also recently opened up a spa, which i haven’t had time to inquire about, but for any of you interested, give her a call. she knows her stuff!

The best pediatrician! She’s a very sweet doctor! The office staff is also very friendly and very accommodating. The Dr. is always gentle whenever she’s doing routine check ups on my daughter. She makes sure that her shots are as quick as possible. She always has answers for our never ending questions regarding the health of our daughter. Dr. Abellera is what every baby doctor should be: sweet, caring, and helpful!
