I craved for Chinese pastries they’ve been my favorite along with Japanese mochis and I’m always on the lookout for newer ones out there. This bakery shop is inside Marina supermarket go all the way back and it’s on the far right hand side and they have a limited choice of breads, cakes and pastries. They are oven baked fresh, soft, tender and tasty. It’s very small in size, but worth it and the prices are extremely inexpensive far less than Sheng Kee and 85 C. I really liked their friendly service and will be back for more.

Meka Bakery makes the best chinese pastries you’ll find in America! This is a business owned by two ladies, Melody and Zeka, who are dedicated to making fresh and delicious desserts. Everything is handmade on site. I have been a loyal customer/pastry consumer for countless years. Don’t be fooled by the fact that they are located inside a grocery store. Their pastries are aaaaamazing. Hubbies’ favorite is the pinapple cake. Mine is the round flat one that has mochi in it. They sell the pastries in nice gift boxes, or alone for your own consumption. They get really busy around lunar moon festival so make sure you order ahead of time if you’re looking to buy lots of giftboxes. The ladies are constantly reinventing the menu to come up with new and innovative pastries. But don’t worry, the staples will always remain as they are the customers’ favorites!

It’s taken me years to do my very first review. But I had such a great experience with these bakers that I cannot pass up giving them praise for being amazing. The women who run this bakery are TOPNOTCH and very courteous! I drove all over town trying to find a bakery that would do mini cakes for a baby birthday. If you are going to that Sheng Kee Bakery on N. Milpitas Blvd. then be prepared to be greeted by rude people behind the counters who will do NOTHING that is custom even though they claim to be a bakery. I’m glad I walked out of there and decided to try Meka Bakery instead. I ordered two Mini Mango Mousse Cakes for my twin girls for their birthday party and made custom requests for decorations. The baker was very nice and took my details happily. I picked up my cakes an hour early and they were ready. They were beautiful, simple, clean, elegant, and just what I wanted! She had put both cakes on one tray since it was for twins, but when I told her we had separate cake stands already planned for the party, she immediately took the cakes to the prep counter and took them off the tray, redecorated the borders that were damaged from moving, and put them on separate trays and individual boxes. Got my two mini cakes for $ 35. SO awesome! I am going to order all my cakes here from now on. Although I have been a loyal Paris Baguette customer, their refusal to do custom mini cakes less than $ 30 a piece ruined our relationship. Thanks, Meka Bakery! You women rock and I am a VERY happy customer!

Our office occasionally receives goodies from Meka Bakery all the way down here in San Diego. I’ve sampled several of the Taiwanese(Swiss rolls) and the chocolate /strawberry is my favorite. I will definitely request more cakes from Meka Bakery.

Meka’s product is more suitable for Asian people and people who cares about healthy eating. Their baked product is not as sweet as Western style bakery. Maybe that’s the reason some review don’t give them 5 star. Their product is very fresh and reasonably priced. I especially like the QQ cookie and cheesecake. Their bakery don’t use any preserves, so the storage time is not as long as the product bought in other store. You need eat them within a 4 or 5 days. Anyway, fresh food tastes better to me.

I’ve had a really bad experience eating macaroons for the first time at a horrible place(a place I shall not name unless asked), so I’ve been a little iffy and have been wondering what an actual freshly made macaroon tasted like… and this place has showed what that wondrous taste was! The green tea and coconut macaroons are beyond perfection !! Not to mention, their bakery are always freshly baked!

Absolutely love love their Swiss roll cake. Taro is my favorite and I think I buy it least 1 – 2 a month. The sells the ends/random pieces of the cakes too in smaller pack hidden in the refrigerator. The buns/breads are okay. You get a free bun/bread with purchase after 6:30pm(Pls check as information might be wrong).

One of my favorite in the Bay Area. Although it’s a little far from me, I will buy some whenever I have chance to pass Milbrae. The materials they use is fresh!

Whomever says that Meka Bakery is better than 85* Bakery has to be out of their mind. Meka Bakery is like a Safeway Bakery — it’s located inside along the side of a grocery store. I went in at about 3pm, and maybe it was just too late, but there was not really any selection or anything fresh out the oven. I got the Taro Mochi Hoapia-Like things and it wasn’t anything to tell anyone about. The Taro Bread wasn’t fresh but it was all right. 85* Bakery did/has everything this place doesn’t offer. Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble. To kind of lighten the modd of this review, HECK, feel free to get some bread/pastries if you’re already shopping the store! That’ll make it feel worth while.

Meka is tucked away past the fruits/vegg section of Marina Grocery. I wouldn’t have known about this small bakery if it wasn’t for my Mama – a total bakery lover. We’ve frequented 85C, Sheng Kee, Lepi Dor – you name it! BUT Meka has got some specials that I haven’t found anywhere, and that’s why I’m giving it 4 stars for their yumminess and quality. We always get their taro bread(HALF the price compared to the ones at 85C… did someone say inflation?!), Q bread, green tea roll, and we recently tried but didn’t really like their mochi taro small flaky bread. My mom said it was because it wasn’t fresh enough – she said she bought it once when it was fresh and she went to FOOD-TASTING-HEAVEN. Anyhoo, Milpitas has got lots of good food, but Meka is a great place to go for you bread lovers out there. ALSO beware of crappy customer service with this younger lady worker. She was not in a good mood when we came on the night of Black Friday(probs because she had to be working at Meka vs. a fun night out of shopping and other deals)…but the other«mama bears/old asian ladies» working there are super awesome.

My favorite bakery. I prefer Meka over all other Asian bakeries in the south bay(85C, sheng kee, kee wah, paris baguette, etc). This is literally a «hidden» gem because it is located deep within Marina, one of the more obscure Asian supermarkets(yet I come here more often than anywhere else) I suggest going in the morning and eating the fresh breads within the day, especially anything that is crispy(pineapple crust, puff pastry). Otherwise at night there is a B3G1 discount. They could use a little more variety, especially on the savory side, since some breads are not so good as others. My favorites include: various pineapple crust buns, puff pastry bread w/shredded pork, taro bun, ham & corn bun, taro puff pastry, egg tarts While I’m not a big fan of their cream, they also make a killer napolean cake, which is a thin layer of napolean(aka mille feuille) sandwiched between two spongecakes. Finally…fresh NOUGATS! They make the Taiwan-style nougats(not the French style!) with almonds or peanuts. This means I wont have to lug bags of nougats back from Taiwan anymore =D

I wasn’t expecting such a great bakery tucked inside an Asian market! They have cakes, breads, cookies, and other pastries. It’s family-owned and there are seasonal pastries like fresh pineapple cake(Chinese style pastry) that you can’t find anywhere else!

My kids love this bakery & their birthday cakes! My friends & I will only order our birthday cakes here because they are pretty & most importantly not as sweet as those from Costco or Safeway. Another plus point is they do not add preservative in their bread(I confirmed with their bakery chef). So they will donate their unsold bread to charity. Their pricing is reasonable. I love their moon cake because they are not as sweet compared to the traditional brown skin moon cake that you get from Sheng Kee. Meka is a gem inside the Marina Grocery!

Summary– If you want very affordable and tasty baked goods, Meka bakery does just the trick if you’re around the Milpitas area. Price– You can’t beat the price at this bakery. The ‘cupcakes’(the cake found in the cake rolls wrapped in little paper containers) are a dollar, and if you buy three you get a fourth one free. The taro rolls are a reasonable six dollars. The smaller pastries run around a dollar and then some. Food– My favorite thing here? The taro cake rolls! The cake is especially light and spongy, and it’s not overly sweet. The filling is the best! I never knew I liked taro ’til I had this roll. Service– The ladies here are very friendly, and it’s a quick and pleasant pay-and-go when you make you purchase. Location– The bakery is hidden away in the back of the supermarket. You have to know where to look where to find it!

Egh. I really wanted to love the cheesecake here as the prior reviews pointed out, but honestly, it ain’t that great. I am a huge cheesecake and pastry addict, and trust me, if I don’t think it’s great, then it ain’t worth it folks. Came by today, and the cheese cake was on sale from $ 7.99 to $ 5.99. There were two left. The lady kept insisting that we buy the last two, guess they wanted to get rid of whatever was left. Finally, she offered to sell both for $ 10, and kept ensuring that they were«fresh». How could I resist? We took both and scrammed. But after trying them, I now regret buying both of them. IMO, it is no better then a Sarah Lee pound cake you can get at the grocery(for even cheaper, I might add). The consistency is spongy, but not«MMMM» spongy. Strangely«soggy» spongy. The hint of cheese was there, but it was no where near strong enough to be truly called a «cheese cake» of any kind. Ultimately disappointing. The other baked goods here are cheap, but mediocre. I absolutely LOVE cream sponge rolls, and the ones at Kee Wah bakery taste much much better as well. Well, you get what you pay for. Wanted to like it. I’ve just had so much better.

MEKACHEESECAKE! Top secret bakery inside Marina Grocery, hoarding some of the freshest yummiest treats! Okay, not-so-secret but ultimately delicious. Their buns and breads are the freshest with loads of flavors to choose from. I’m a sucker for mocha cake rolls. Meka makes them so perfectly moist with just the right sweetness(I drool typing this) and for about $ 6 bucks you get an 8 inch roll. But honestly, it’s so good it doesn’t last me a day, but that’s because I’m a piggy, haha… Oh and if mocha’s not your flavor, the other rolls are yummylishious too! New found yummy obsession: Meka cheesecake!!! This cheesecake is not like a NY cheesecake, so don’t expect that but do expect to buy two or more. It is like a fluffy sponge/pound cake similar to the Filipino mamon but this is more heavenly, with melt in your mouth creamed cheese baked into every bite.(wiping drool off my keyboard, haha) I can’t believe I almost didn’t buy it, but the owner said ‘Try it, it’s very good’ then her eyes gleamed like she wanted to devour one right then and there. Sold! She told me to take two, I guess she sized my eating habits. But I wanted to try it first, Yup, ended up going back the next day because I couldn’t stop dreaming about this cake! Thank you Meka for making life a little sweeter!!!

Meka Bakery is a gem of a bakery located within Marina supermarket in an unassuming strip mall. It’s a Taiwanese bakery with a selection of buns, pastries, cakes, and other delicious treats. I would drive out here just for the cheesecake. It’s not a typical cheesecake(my mother calls it Taiwanese-style) — it’s not as rich as regular cheesecake, but rather more cakey than creamy, so you don’t get sick of it as easily. I could probably finish a whole cake by myself(but then again, I am a dessert monster, but it’s seriously really good). They also have Taiwanese green bean pastries with meat inside, and this red bean pastry with mochi inside that is probably the best around the Bay Area. Their pineapple cakes/blueberry cakes are also buttery and delicious. My only problem is it’s location… too bad it’s stuck in such a small area in such a mediocre supermarket. Oh yeah, and the pained teenager working the register who looked like it caused her immense personal injury to ring us up. But the bakers and owners in the back were awesome and friendly!
