Dr. Napolitano heads up a team of five dedicated staff members with a total of 50 combined years of service to our office. While staying current with the best techniques in general dentistry and striving to keep the cost of care as moderate as possible, we provide a warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere in which to have your dental needs met.

We offer a full range of dental care, providing preventive, restorative and cosmetic care. Preventive care includes regular hygiene care together with exams and digital low-​dose x-​rays as needed. Restorative care includes fillings, crowns, bridges and implant restoration. Cosmetic care may include tooth whitening and in office whitening, bonding, veneers, and/​or orthodontics (invisalign and braces). We refer patients to dental specialty offices as needed and maintain strongly cooperative relationships with those offices, insuring that our patients receive great service and care should a referral be in the patient’s best interest.

History

Established in 1984.

Napolitano has made a name for himself as a dentist in the city, and will be celebrating 25 years in practice Aug. 14 — 2009 at his office at 454 E. Calaveras Blvd.

He fondly remembers his early years in the city, and admits he wasn’t destined to be a dentist.

He said when the family first moved to Milpitas, the city was growing «like crazy, and the schools weren’t ready for all the kids» coming to town.

Napolitano attended Curtner, Rose, Randall and Murphy elementary schools, then Rancho Milpitas Middle School, and Ayer High School.

«I wasn’t on the college track,» he said. «I went to the vocational center and was going to be a mechanic. I had a high school job as one and thought there must be a better way for me to make a living.»

Dr. Napolitano, Larry to most who know him, grew up in Milpitas. He graduated with honors from both San Jose State University and the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry. At UCSF he completed additional training in advanced restorative dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and biomaterial research, while serving as President of the School of Dentistry Student Body. Dr. Napolitano has practiced at this location in Miliptas since receiving his California Dental License in 1984. Larry is committed to both continuing education and serving the community. He participates in study groups including cosmetic dentistry, implants and modern concepts in general dentistry. He serves on the Peer Review Board (Santa Clara County) of the California Dental Association as well as being a volunteer fire fighter for the Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Department. His hobbies include hiking, tennis, gardening, motorcycles, koi ponds, and his new granddaughter.

Ive been a greatful customer of dr. Larry for 19 years and he’s always been the best dentist I could have asked for and his great staff I love them all, It was really one of my favorite places to get my teeth worked on, he helped me fix my broken jaw, numerous broken teeth and a bunch of other stuff from when my jaw was broke in a car accident, I wish I wasn’t writing this review from my phone and the talk and text feature isn’t as good as I would like comma the dr. Larry has been there for me for many years Monica one of his hygienist or whatever job title she is one of the best

My family and I have been coming here since I had teeth. It feels like family each time I come. Monica is my favorite hygienist. She friendly, kind, and does an excellent job, she always made me feel comfortable. I have always felt confident in the quality of care received here. I was recommended Dr. Napolitano’s office by my friend after growing wary of some other dental clinics in the area.
Dr Napolitano and his awesome staff are very friendly and courteous. What I like the most is that he explains everything in detail and places ALL options on table with pros & cons. Then you can judge the options and pick for yourself.
I feel genuinely cared for at this place, which unfortunately is hard to say of most clinics these days. And Amber always puts up a good fight for me with my insurance company.
I got my orthodontics work done started in 2012 and got over with successful results in 2014. The treatment needed regular visits and every visit felt like it was catered to me as an individual, and I wasn’t just another client to them. Dr Larry is excellent at what he does — final part of my treatment involved some work with ‘shaping’ the tooth and adding some synthetic material for aesthetics/​symmetry and he did it so perfectly that writing this review is the first time in months I remembered that a tiny part of that tooth is actually fake. And while he correctly predicted the entire course of treatment that spanned about 2 years — he didn’t even bill me when things didn’t go as planned or there was a slight detour from it. Oh and I did not have to deal with my insurance at all during the course of this treatment — his clinic took care of that as well.
Finding this place was nothing short of serendipity and I would gladly recommend his clinic to anyone looking for an excellent dental care/​orthodontics clinic.

Dr. Napolitano does an OK job; however, the office manager is a different story. Unfortunately, when you are looking for service, you have to take the whole package into account!
I had been going to Dr. Napolitano for many years. Never cared for his office manager as she kept screwing up my insurance billing. I find her very unresponsive, irresponsible, careless, and extremely rude. The last screw up is what pushed me over the edge to find another dentist. She screwed up the billing, waited too long until the statute of limitation was over to submit claims for the work done. This is despite me personally going over to the office and calling multiple times to express concern that I had not even received an Explanation of Benefit from my insurance company (an indication that they were not billed), and that if she was not getting response from them, she should give me the super bill so that I can submit it myself and follow up with them.
Long story short, sure enough, when I called her on her screw up, she got defensive and rude. At that point, she said that maybe I should handle dealing with the insurance company (obviously knowing that the time window to submit claims was closed). I asked her to have the Dr. call me, but never heard from him!
The story gets better because this is for the same $ 1200 crown that the doctor worked on precipitating the necessity for an expensive root canal which I had to go get done by a specialist (who by the way had no problems billing the insurance and getting paid by them). Then I had to go back to Napolitano one more time to have him seal the hole that was drilled by the specialist to do the root canal.
Sadly, the reason I stuck with Dr. Napolitano is because I considered him a friend (just like his other reviewers I used to call him by his first name) and a man of honor and character. I put a lot of trust in the work that he did and his recommendations, and never questioned him. However, I was sorely wrong and VERY disappointed in the way he and his office handled my case.
I have not been going to his office for over 2 years. So, why leave the Unilocal review now after 2 years? I never bother leaving any Unilocal feedback, but I appreciate people leaving their honest opinions and always check Unilocal when I am looking for anything I haven’t tried before. While browsing through Unilocal,I came across his rave reviews that are really one sided because I don’t think his unhappy patients have taken the time to tell their side of the story. So, I thought that I should leave my story on this page so that people trying to decide on a dentist know that this doctor and his office aren’t exactly the wonderful service providers the other reviewers made them out to be!!!

The best place in the Bay Area! Larry is an amazing dentist especially if you need to do anything complicated. I wish I lived closer to his office. I’ve been going to this place for years for the exception of the last year due to my move. Great atmosphere, kind staff, and one thing I can say about Dr Napolitano that I can trust him 100% and would recommend him to anyone!

My family and I come from Discovery Bay, Tracy prior to that, Top that ;). I’ve known Larry for years and couldn’t imagine going to anyone else. Such a great and comfortable atmosphere from adults to kids, yes that’s right, you read it right, crazy huh. It used to be the word dentist was mentioned and you cringe and hear that «zzzzzzz!» In the back of your head haha. Monica is THE greatest too BTW, makes my daughter feel right at home. The rest of the staff is great as well. 10 stars if possible.

I have been going to doctor Larry for about 20 years and all I can say is that he is awesome! Monica is also a great hygienist. The only down side is that he out of any network so you have to pay more, but I think is worth it.

My family and I have been going to Dr. N for over 20 years and will never change. We drive over 10 miles each way to his office in Milpitas because he is such a good dentist. Through the years we have had many types of procedures always with good results and beautiful teeth. His hygentists and office staff are great also. He is so good with a needle you don’t even know that he is using it. No fear with Dr. Napolitano!

I have been going to Dr. Napolitano since he opened his office I think. He is a great dentist, is kind and talks to you so you can understand what is going on. His office is clean and his staff is fantastic. Such nice people!
I have a big fear of anything other then having my teeth cleaned but Dr. N and his staff have always gotten me through any challenges I have had to meet toothwise. I have a tooth that betrayed me over the weekend and is going to be looked at today by Dr. N. I’m scared, but I know I will be ok.

Dr. Larry and his staff really are «the best». The phrase is over used but in this case applies! I was referred by a friend and was in need of some major dental work. I neglected my teeth for some time. He took things a step at a time and always made me comfortable with the direction we were going.

I’m inherently skeptical of dentists, but I really love Dr. Napolitano’s office. I’ve been going there for over five years now, and I live in Redwood City (aka FAR AWAY). But it’s worth it to me. He’ll give you the straight dope — what dental work you really need, then how he’d treat his family given unlimited funding, but also the cheaper alternatives, or the more expensive ones too. If you’re scared, they’ll take the time to talk to you and figure out what you need to make it through your dental work. If you need a dentist and you live in San Jose or Milpitas, you should check out Dr. Larry, because he’s an awesome dentist.
