Interstate 880 at 237

Has anybody played the Final Fantasy series game? If you drive from 880 onto 237 at night you’ll see that it looks like one of the areas of Final Fantasy! I’m not sure how to explain it, but if you actually play Final Fantasy games you can back me up on this. There’s a similar part of driving to Davis/​Sacramento too! Haha.
I drive to the South Bay a lot. Whether it’s school, work, spending time with family or friends, you name it. I definitely hate driving through 237 during the morning commute. Traffic is ridiculous. It’s my last semester at Mission College this spring and I just found it easier to drive on 880 and exit Tasman Drive. It saves a bit more time than being stuck in that 237 traffic, man. Horrific. I have night classes time to time and driving home on 237 to get back onto 880 is lovely! Other than the traffic, 237 is a bit of a scenic freeway, but really only at night.

Bay area traffic is seriously no joke.
The path getting onto 237 should be expanded more for single drivers, but it is definitely a plus if you can carpool someone and go on the fast trak lane!
Not the most beautiful scenery along this interstate, but it will make do. Just crank on your music while you slowly step on and off your brakes as you move inches forward.
But seriously though– if you have the means to, get a fast track. You can save so much time (literally 1 hour, if you go at peak hours).

If you’re taking Dixon area from 237, just take Jacklin rd exit since Dixon rd has so much construction going on. If you’re heading to milmont area by the apt or where 7 eleven is, stay on the far right.

I’m confusing how am I going to review this? About what? Traffic? Condition of the road? Or how much fee if I am in the Express lane without any permit? Or about the red line during carpool hours ?
Seriously I don’t know. Talk about general, traffic is always worse during rush hours. Most of peoples get off work from Silicon Valley. I know some of company has changed the work hours schedule to help employees with the traffic. But for some others position, you could avoid it by going to the near by gym to work out and head home later … So many options that you can choose to do.
The road is new and smooth, love it. No idea how much does it costs if we’re against the rule by using express lane. The red light is purposely for slowing down cars get out to freeway but it’s created another traffic in the interaction, aha. So isn’t it helping? Maybe a little.
I had a bad memory to share at this junction. I saw one squirrel passed by when I drove the car over, I slowed down and as somehow when I got closer he turned back and ran underneath my car. OMG, I heard the sound «crackk «and I looked back in the mirror, hope that he will made it but NO… he was flattered out .:((((I felt bad the whole day and was so sad .

This road has too many lanes. The junction to 237 West is quick and I never encountered traffic on the road. The 237 East ramp is no signed well. Also this area looks like a swarm. If you want to access the Milptas Square Mall you need to use the East exit then turn right.

If I could give it one star I would. It hasn’t always been so bad with traffic as I’ve been using this route since 2005. Let’s just say I don’t know how the majority of these people passed the driving test. Many of these people slam their breaks on for dust particles and break every five seconds whether there is a hazzard or not. You know who you are. You drive very close to the steering wheel and always have a look of concern on your face and typically have a half a mile gap between you and the next car yet you still punch your breaks. You drive very slowly until someone tries to get in front of you and only speed up to prevent anyone from getting in front of you even when the lane is wide open in front of you. Please note that if you have to break when changing lanes you did not have enough room to change lanes. Using your turn signal and looking to the lane next to you is not simply a suggestion, it’s the law. Merging is out of the question. People lose any and all sense when it comes to merging. If you have to come to a complete stop on the freeway when you have your own lane to merge in that is a major problem. Driving on this freeway in this area is like playing rush and roulette because people often make dangerous decisions and nearly cause accidents without ever looking around. I just want you to know it’s ok… no, it’s required that you look ahead, to the side and to the rear when you are driving. You cannot continue driving your car like you live your life. You are not the only one that matters. If it rains just expect these drivers to become even more dangerous and irrational. If car after car is changing lanes to get around you take notice… even better take the streets since you clearly have all day to get to your location.

No word describes this freeway better than «traffic!» You can almost guarantee that there will be an accident or drivers that leave huge gaps in between each other which causes traffic.

The only reason this interchange gets a second star is because it has a Fastrak option and CalTrans seems to have made efforts to make this better. But there is only so much you can do when you are in a strip of land about 5 miles wide with water on one side and mountains on the other side and 1 million people to your south who have this as about their only option to go north.
The morning commute from SB 680 onto WB 237 is a mess always unless you can use Fastrak in which case it is slightly better. Friday afternoons are a major snafu, just stay away.
I work nearby so I have not choice to be near this monster. But if you don’t have to be here. Stay away.

These are the worst places for traffic EVER! If you don’t have road rage — you WILL have it! This place will stress yourself out of your mind from idiot drivers, as in, drivers with no common sense, drivers on autopilot not paying attention, narcissistic tailgating weaver drivers who think they’re the only ones trying to get somewhere, huge big-​rig trucks that don’t drive in the correct lane, and just plain crazy people with no regard. I’m all for diversity, but 237 just brings out the worst in people, and it’s ugly. Welcome to being pissed off before 8 in the morning because of jerks.

Make sure you use the few shortcuts to get into 237. Heading from Dixon Landing road do not enter the 880 ramp. Uturn and enter from the Northway ramp.
If not, travel down the McCarthy backroad and turn right onto the 237 ramp. Alot quicker than driving on the overpass. Traffic clears up drastically after first street.

5 tips for driving through or in this area
1. Turn on your exhaust fan before you get to this junction
2. Beware, it will take you come time to cross over 237 to 680
3. Drivers tend to forget all the basic safety rules at about 8pm
You’ll be graced with the presence of cars that don’t single, the «weavers», and folks who think they need to show speediness of their not so speedy car
4. Expect some delays on the right hand side due to current construction
5. If driving past 237, stay in the 2 left lanes to avoid waiting in a line you don’t need to be in

I’m glad they expanded the road from 880 – 237, visa versa.
But its SUCKS there is no 237 connection going down to 880 southbound.

The only way to survive a morning commute from southbound 880 to westbound 237 is to get FasTrak and use the express lane. Before VTA created the express lane, I’d take any other option to head west from 880; Tasman, Montague or even the Dumbarton bridge. The average price is around $ 2.50 to $ 3.00, about half a bridge toll. The price is determined on how fast the traffic is moving, so if you get a slow moving vehicle on it, the price artificially rises.
But I won’t ever take 237 eastbound to 880 north in the evening. The express lane is completely useless because it starts too late (between North First and Zanker) to do any good, as this is the point where the regular lanes start to pick up speed and un-​congest. It needs to start at the 101/​Mathilda interchange to be effective. And the express lane doesn’t last very long onto 880. You have to exit into a jammed left lane, while the right lanes are moving faster. Driving through Milpitas and Fremont city streets is quicker.

Always, always, always super packed and that’s why I try to avoid it as much as possible! I don’t what it is. I would like to blame the highway work they are doing over by Dixon landing but traffic has been bad in this area even before they started working on it. OH, well… that’s the life on the road. :)

i almost never use 237. if i do, i try to get on 237 heading towards milpitas from sunnyvale before 3 on weekdays. after 3, it’s just a snails crawl. .
on the weekends, haven’t experienced delays. still i prefer to return to the bay area via the hayward bridge or dumbarton to avoid any possible delays.
forget when it occurs but when the sun shines in thru ur windshiedl, it’s very hard to see/​drive. another reason to avoid 237.

Dear 237,
I feel that this is not working for us. I know I’ve been using you twice a day, 5 – 6 times a week. You probably feel that I’ve been abusing you everytime I go on your rough surface but I can’t even go 88 on you! You caused me too much stress in the morning and sometimes even at night between 5 – 7. I tried to hang in there because you’re supposedly convenient for me. Imagine, I don’t need to Pay for me to use you but it’s just too much for me to handle! I lost count with how many «B*tch get out of my F*ckin way already! You are making me look freakin old because of frustration and stress. I always suffer from road rage disease in the morning.
I am sorry. I think I will have to replace you with 85 but I am so cheap I don’t like to pay him $ 5!
Anyways, what i really wanted to say is… F*ck you! See you tomorrow!!!

Traffic all f**ken day

Oh the Drive from Oakland to San Jose every morning and evening is awesome!!! Just kidding, lets just say that sitting in traffic is not my favorite hobby.
This HWY is in great shape but when they did the expansion project, they didn’t expanded it quite enough… Here’s how i see it, 3 – 4 lanes is not enough in the bay area, common 9 million people live in the bay. All of our Highways should be at least 6 lanes in each direction. Also carpool lanes are a waste of space, the carpool lanes just cause more congestion, which in return is a determent to our environment, so please cal-​trans open the carpool lanes to all traffic.
I can’t imagine how bad this HWY used to be before they did the expansion project, i am really happy that i wasn’t around here for that, especially during the construction… that must have been a mess. All in all this isn’t a bad freeway, just too many dumb Californian drivers.

This folks, is the most perfect example of how efficient CalTrans is at doing major construction. When did they start the expansion project? 400BC?
Not only do people drive like assholes (specifically along this stretch of bumpy pavement), but is there a time of day that there isn’t traffic?
I feel so bad for those poor folks who live in the condos to the north side of this POS highway. You probably had no idea how long the construction was going to take.
I’m saving my money for a helicopter, so I can drop some dookie down on those lame-​ass construction workers as I fly right on by.
