Carolyn’s Pet Grooming

This is now «Tatiana’s Pet Grooming» and they just moved down the street. I am satisfied with the grooming and continue to take my dog there, but it takes FOREVER to get an appointment, so you have to book well in advance. And, they aren’t all that friendly. Maybe they like animals more than humans. But, it’s Ok… not great… not bad. I am satisfied and that is about it.

i came to tatiana’s from all the good Unilocal reviews. i was lucky enough to get a saturday appointment with a week and a half call ahead. tatiana (?) was very attentive at what i asked for. i knew my pup would be shaved due to all his matted tangles, but i asked for his black streaks on his ears and tail to be kept.
i received a call 3 hours later, and i found my baby shaved with a cute green (my favorite color) bandana. a definite plus as ive been looking for a cute bandana for him. his ears were longer than i wanted, but thats because i had requested for his black streaks. they cut his ears shorter at my request, and they are very precise at doing so.
i highly recommend tatiana’s, and for $ 40, you can’t find a better grooming job!

Unilocal’s A-​OK (3-​star) rating is exactly how I would describe «Tatiana’s Pet Grooming» (used to be known as «Carolyn’s Pet Groomer») in Milpitas.
What I like:
— Open grooming area near the front of the shop. Even the dogs in crates are put right there in front which is great. I don’t like it when they hide the dogs in the back.
— I went to the old building Carolyn’s was at (227 S. Main Street #C, Milpitas, CA) and the new building Tatiana’s is in (87 S. Main Street, Milpitas) is much better (cleaner and easier to find).
— The ladies grooming the dogs seemed friendly when I met them.
— My dog’s fur came out even and clean. No complaints.
What I didn’t like:
— The person who asked me how I’d like my dog cut could have been more attentive. She didn’t even write down what I said. I suspected that she might miss something I had requested but gave her the benefit of the doubt. It turns out my suspicions were confirmed and only about half of what I said was implemented.
— I didn’t see a clearly defined pricing list. I paid $ 40 for my 10lb pup, NOT the $ 35 I saw posted below. This isn’t just a complaint about Carolyn’s. Most of the independent groomers seem to just name their own price. It always makes me feel like I may be getting ripped off.
Overall a good experience. I’d go back but I haven’t stopped searching for that perfect groomer.

my little baby, owen, got his first hair cut here. my sister called me and told me to go take him since they thought she made him an appointment for a mini schnauzer too. so i got up and took him.
i was so reluctant to take him since i loved how he looked with his fluffy hair and barely can see eyes. i dropped him off and was already anxious. i told the woman before i left that i didn’t want his hair too short. she said ok but i felt a little rushed. i got in my car feeling like something was going to go wrong. i wanted to run back in there and get my baby back. i didn’t.
my sister called me to pick my baby up since she had gotten a call to pick up hers. so when she was there she told them she’d let me know to come get owen since he was almost done. my sister managed to snap a picture of owen before i got there and he looked so naked!
when i got there to pick owen up, i didn’t even recognize him. when i heard him bark, i knew it was his. it made me so sad that my owen was NAKED. and the woman had the nerve to ask me if owen was a terrier mix. uhh​.no. he’s a mini schnauzer. blah. i’m kinda bitter about this place but i want to give it another chance when i’m ready since it’s so close.

HOT DOG !!! Sam just got his hair cut today and he’s a SMEXY BEAST ! He’s a Shih Tzu/​chihuahua mix, 20 lbs and they ONLY charged 40 dollars for the cut, bath, nail trimming, and anal glands expressions. This will be the first and only pet grooming I’d go to. AND HERE’S A PLUS! They gave Sam a FREE black bandanna with red flames!

I’ve been trying to get an appointment with them for so long& I finally was able to make one. I’ve heard so many good things about them, I wanted to know what was all the fuss about. I’ve been to 3 different grooming places and none reached my expectations. Petsmart always done a horrible job and one time, they cut my dog where she needed stitches.
I must say, Carolyns Pet Grooming did a great job on my shih-​tzu. She came in with lots of mats, I was hoping they wouldn’t shave her to where she looked like a cat, but the lady said (i forgot her name) not to worry, that my baby will still look like a dog. When I came to pick her up, she was nicely cut.
4 stars, because great job, great customer service, and great price! 40 $ for anal glands expression, nail trim, bath cut
where I spent 60 $ for all that at petsmart and not satisfied.
I didn’t give a full 5 stars because like what everyone else said, it is pretty hard to find.

When I lived in Milpitas, this was the only place I could take my maltese to get groomed where he was excited to be there and sad to go. They do amazing haircuts that make my dog look even cuter than he already is– very hard to do! Carolyn’s is prompt and treat my dog like their own. I recommend this place to anyone in the South Bay looking for a new pet groomer!

I brought my feisty long hair chihuahua to Carolyn’s for a bath/​haircut/​ear cleaning/​nail trim/​glands makeover. This place is EXCELLENT. My neighbor recommended the groomer named Tanya so I requested for her. When we arrived, Tanya took the time to ask for clarification on how I wanted my dog to be groomed. She also saw that my dog was very nervous so she gently cuddled him and talked to him. I told her that he hates getting groomed and if he is too difficult she could muzzle him if needed.
Fast forward 3 hours or so, I showed up to pick up my dog and he was as handsome as can be. He smelled and looked great, nails perfectly filed and just perfect. Not to mention the price is very reasonable as well, $ 38 for everything. I asked Tanya if my dog was difficult to handle. She said he wasn’t bad at all and that they didn’t have to muzzle him.
I’ve gone to PetSmart’s grooming salon three times before finding Carolyn’s, and Carolyn’s is hands down, by far superior in every aspect. The first time at PetSmart, they gave me back my dog half groomed (I had to trim the rest of him myself and they were not able to clean his ears). The second time they gave me lectures about training my dog at home to get him acustomed to grooming, basically saying that it’s my fault they couldn’t do the job I paid them to do. The third time at PetSmart the person actually did a decent job. Everytime I dropped off my dog for grooming at PetSmart, I was always full of anxiety because I didn’t know what to expect when I picked him up. Afterall, PetSmart is a chain store so it’s really hit or miss. On the other hand, Carolyn’s is much more professional since they specialize in grooming services. Although the storefront is nothing fancy to look at and the location is a bit obscure (in an older 1 story building located behind a towing company and a tax accountant), the services far exceeded my expectations. I will not take my dog anywhere else for grooming from now on except to Carolyn’s!

I have taken Riley, my 3 yr. Old shih-​tzu to many groomers in the past and none has done a better job than Anna at carolyn’s groomers. Carolyn was nice enough to take a same day Appt after I read all the awesome reviews on Unilocal.They were very nice and the place looks very clean. I told them I wanted Riley to be cut short with a Teddy bear face, but to look like his haircut was a week old. (I don’t like the way he looks when he first gets his haircut) when I picked up Riley he was soooo cute! Exactly how I described! And the price was cheaper than any other place i’ve gone to. My boyfriend just took his dog there yesterday and she is just as adorable. I love this place. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed after taking their dog here.
Minor con– place is a bit hard to find as the sign is not very visible, but well worth the find. You’ll never miss this place again!
I’m definitely a customer for life!

I’ve been taking my 2 malteses Maya and Daezie and my bearded collie Luna for couple years already and I’ve been very happy with the results. They call me as soon as they are done with my girls. Janice is very helpful and let’s me know what helps or may not help regarding the dogs grooming. Some times they are books for a month in advance but it is worth the wait. I’m very happy with their service.

I loooove this place! Carolyn’s was booked about a month solid, but she asked if I wanted to be put on the list in case of cancellations. she ended up getting my little shih-​tzu in the next day! Her prices are very reasonable and my pup came out looking EXCELLENT! I’ve tried out so many different groomers, and Carolyn’s is by far my favorite!!!

I had been taking my Silky Terrier Simon to another place for his grooming needs, and this time, I decided to switch things up by trying Carolyn’s Pet Grooming, based on the reviews here.
Overall, it was a good decision, as he’s strutting around as if he thinks he is the most handsome doggie on the planet.
I was able to book him an appointment only a week away, so I was thrilled to not have to wait 3 weeks.
I’m so glad that I tried to find Carolyn’s ahead of time, otherwise I would have had lots of trouble. As other reviewers mention, it’s not all that obvious where to go. My tip? It’s behind a tax preparation service near a brightly colored taqueria.
I really appreciate how patient they were in answering all my questions. They took time to listen to how I wanted the cut to be, and when I picked him up, they let me take a picture of him on the grooming table. Check it out in the photos.
I have to subtract one star because as I was heading to my car, I noticed a patch of hair that was shorter than the rest on his front leg. I returned to the groomer and asked if it could be evened out. She said that he has a cowlick there, so it looks shorter than the rest, even though it’s not. She evened out the area so that it doesn’t look as obvious, then also tried to match the other front leg to that leg.
He came out looking great. No nicks, no problems. The facility itself seemed clean, and the staff was friendly.
I’d definitely return next time.

A new do for my doggie-​poo!

After reading all the reviews of this place, I decided to give it a try. She’s a maltese-​poodle mix — all curls and fluff. After spending a morning at Carolyn’s she’s clean, trimmed and clipped. The price was right too — $ 38. Be prepared to write out a check or have cash as no credit or ATM cards are accepted.
Carolyn’s a busy place — and I can see why. I made my appointment in early January and was booking three weeks out.
I also would have had a difficult time finding the place if not for S scoping out the place prior to our arrival.
If you want your doggie do done on a regular basis — make sure that you call to make that appointment! We’ll be back for sure!

My Opinion/​Story:
When I got my Yorkie 4 years ago, this was the very first place I took her to get a bath, cut and grooming. I thought the price was expensive back then and requesting for an appointment was a bit tough (took a couple of weeks). As it turns out, they charge alot less than other groomers. They also do a fantastic job with her cut. They always seem straight and clean. My Yuki always come out smelling so good and looking pretty good that I took her there a few more times. The owner is always pleasant and nice. I trust my dog to be in a safe place when she’s there. I’m amaze that my dog doesn’t try to run away when I walk her to this grooming place.
I decided to try other grooming places after that and trust me I’ve taken Yuki to alot of groomers. The Petco/​Petsmart groomers charge ridiculous amount of money and other grooming places are just too snubby. I can tell when my dog hates the place because she tries to run away. I’ve recently taken her to a local groomer and the cut was so awful that I had to fix it myself for more than what Carolyn charges.
So now that I’ve learned my lesson, I think I’ll just keep going back to Carolyn’s to do my Yuki’s hair cut. I’d rather have it done right for the first time. It is a bit of a drive and I always have to drop off my dog so early but I think it’s totally worth doing to see my dog safe and happy.

The place is kind of hard to find because their signage is so small. I had to call and ask them where they were located because I got lost.
Navigation problems aside, Carolyn’s is pretty good. My dog, Yuki, always comes out looking a hot mess every time I take her somewhere for grooming, but I think Carolyn’s did a nice job on her. I am a tough one to please when it comes to Yuki’s grooming (I’ve only really been happy with her cut ONCE), but I would come back here again. The price is also very reasonable! If you do want to book, however, make sure you do it way in advance. It’s a really busy place!

I’ve been bringing my 2 dogs (yorkie & shih-​tzu) to Carolyn’s for 4 yrs now. They do an awesome job in all aspects, cut, bath, nails/​ears/​glands. Prices are the lowest I’ve seen in the area but in my opinion, you get much MORE than what you pay for here.
Sometimes, I call for an appointment and their booked up for weeks so reserve early.

Carolyn’s Pet Grooming is EXCELLENT!!! I have been taking my Maltese and my Yorkie there since they were pups. The service is wonderful, and their prices can’t be beat! They especially do an awesome job on YORKIES… just ask for a «Yorkie Groom.» They specialize in all dogs, big or small. They also offer canine dental care on location every second Friday of the month (appointment needed).
It is difficult to find… but when you are on Main Street, look for the Bua Thai Restaurant or Jackson Hewitt Tax Services, and CAROLYN’S PET GROOMING is right behind them!

I have been bringing my 75-​lb double-​coated dog to Carolyn’s for almost 3 years and I have never been disappointed. My dog comes home smelling wonderful everytime. Each time he gets a hair cut, they do a great job of getting rid of all the excess hair around his legs and pants. The women there are kind and friendly, and I have no doubt they are gentle with the dogs.
I would have never found this place if not for a neighbor’s recommendation. The store is located in the same lot as another company and is located in the back, so no one just driving by would EVER see this shop. (The company in front is a towing company and has red company vehicles, so I kind of use that as my landmark to know where to turn).
Despite the location and virtually no advertising, there seems to be plenty of customers– the last time I called for an appointment, the next aviailable slot was more than 2 weeks out! The wait time is slighter shorter during the winter months, but I definitely recommend calling ahead for an appointment.

I’ve been taking my dog, a silver miniature poodle, there since I got him in 2002. The people there are nice and patient, and they love the animals. They are open from Tues to Saturday.
The location of the place makes it a lil hard to find – it’s kind of in the back of another building, and the building doesn’t look super duper, and looks a lil dingy. BUT my dog always come out looking dandy, and he always has a cute lil bandana on. The people there know what they are doing!
Their prices are very reasonable too. I definitely recommend them if you’re looking for a groomer.
