The Home Depot

Ok, so I am updating my rating to 3 stars based on Home Depot’s recovery. I give them credit for having an active social media team at Corporate that is monitoring social media, and for reaching out to me. In fact, the next day after I had the experience documented on my prior review, I did get a call from a staff member who informed me about the delivery date with information on how it would be coordinated. Since I was at a meeting, I was unable to have a longer conversation so I thanked her for the information and hung up. I later followed up via email to the social media team. The social media team passed it on to the Special Order manager, who took the time to call me. He indicated that if I ever had a problem, I could call him. I shared with him that I did request to speak to a manager during that first interaction and I was denied. I believe the employees need to be given the tools and empowered by management to recognize when a customer’s interaction should be escalated. This is a management issue, not an employee issue. Clearly, the employee I spoke to had not been empowered. It is not her fault, so I hope she is not reprimanded for this. Put the right processes in place and the right culture in place, and the employees will do wonders.
So I’m updating the rating to give them the benefit of the doubt — I hope Home Depot is able to work out the kinks in their process and ensure a better experience for future customer transactions!

As far as Home depots go, this is my favorite location
The milltown Home depot was the first one I had ever been to when I made the move from Staten Island to NJ, 16 years ago.
I know the store like the back of my hand
The people who work there have an above average of their respective departments
Its not perfect, many times their inventory is off but overall I have good experiences there.
Their memorial day, 4^th of July and labor day sales are usually great

Home Depot visits seem to pick up more in the summer. This location is the only one in my area, so I go there a lot. They have everything you need and it has that great Home Depot smell. The employees are kind and there to help you. They are also very professional and experts in their individual field.
People may be nervous but outdoor plants from them. However, anytime I buy an outdoor plant from other businesses, it dies 90% of the time. When I buy it from Home Depot, it thrives and lives on for many years. I would recommend Home Depot to anyone for plants, and I have purchased many.
The only downfall is that the prices are through the roof for just about everything. They even have some front doors for sale that are $ 5,000. I would give this a higher rating but the over priced items issue needs to be fixed. Otherwise, I’m all in!

The employees at this store are more concerned with their social lives than taking care of business. There are some however, that are fantastic but the majority are there simply for a paycheck. I blame this on extremely poor management. I needed a piece of plywood ripped down and waited at the special order desk in building materials while 2 young ladies chatted about their social lives all the while continuing to look at me and then go back to their conversation. This went on for about 5 minutes until I got fed up and went to the pro desk and had another employee call for someone to make the cut for me. I’m not a weekend warrior here. I spend thousands of dollars in this store every year. It’s my opinion that the management needs to be retrained on the basics of customer service and hold regular employee meetings to stress the importance of the customer. Without us, there is no Home Depot and thereby no paycheck. And if the management can’t grasp the concept of this, they need to be replaced with someone who does. It’s sad how these corporations start off great and then once they become established, lack in so many ways. It’s no wonder this country is falling apart, nobody gives a damn any more.

HORRIBLE experience!!! My husband and I are new homeowners. We went here and bought a few items totaling a little over $ 200. I remembered I had a gift card at home and a coupon and figured I would come back to the store to have the receipt adjusted. Went back to the store today and all I can say is WOW. I was treated in such a disrespectful manner. This woman named Dawn (trust me I’d love to call her another name) says to me ‘you expect me to return all these items on the receipt and adjust this? Well I’m not doing it’ I told her lowes does it and she replied ‘well that’s lowes!!!’. There were only 5 items on the receipt. She was so incredibly rude and to make matters worse she was a supervisor!!! What lowlife trash to represent that store! I will not return!

Went to this store yesterday in search of 100% vermiculite or perlite (non miracle grow). Could not find it and there was no workers to be found in the garden center. Asked the guy at the store entrance if he could possibly find someone for me. He called someone to the garden center.
A man comes in yelling «who needs help in here?!» Rude. I tell him I needed to find those items and he takes me to them. Two options: huge bags or miracle grow. I ask if there might be another brand and he very rudely dismissed me, said «That’s what we got, Miss» and walked off. Didn’t care that I may have needed help finding something else.
Would have not been a large purchase but it would have been a purchase. Horrible customer service. Will not be spending money at this store ever again.

Home Depot is another store (like the craft store) where I have many good intentions of finding something cool to do in the house. Well, unless it’s Summer and I can garden my little heart out, I usually leave the store as confused as when I walked in. One time, had to get light bulbs for the oven range. Easy enough? Nope. There were all different sizes, watts and all I know of a light bulb, is that it «screws» in. Some of the choices even had little plug thingies on the end. I can never find anyone around to help when I’m on the verge of a breakdown either!!!
I feel like I can never find anything I’m looking for. Again, probably just me.
The guys in the paint department are really helpful however. Decided to paint a room red! Didn’t work out so well! Had to go back and figure out how to fix that mess and the guy did take the time to help me out!
Also, there garden section is a bit weak. Flowers and plants always look dead. I feel so bad for those little guys, that I usually end up buying a lot more than I wanted, just to save them all.

Okay being that this is practically my second home I have no choice but to update my review. If you own a home you will find yourself spending hours upon hours several days a week especially on the weekends going up and down the rows looking for items to improve your quality of life. In my case its usually lawn & garden items including home furnishings, fixtures as well of course light bulbs.
I find the staff to be friendly and helpful especially in the paint department. Now I ain’t got no green thumb, but I aspire to be that guy someday. Perhaps a neighbor will knock on my door in search of home repair or improvement advice instead of the usual other way around lol… probably not any time soon.
A home owners 2^nd home away. So better to embrace it, besides it’s always cool walking around looking at tools trying to figure out what the hell there used for.

I am here frequently. House repairs, back yard landscaping, equipment, tools. Its got everything you need.

So. I generally like this store. The financing options are great. I just financed a floor for 0% for 24 months. I thought that was a very good deal.
They have some talented old time contractors working here that can give some good advice for the everyday handy homeowner.
The selection of HVAC products could be a little more diverse.
You can do worse.

This is my local Home Depot. Employees are friendly and always say hello to me when I walk in thru the front door. They always have the products I need. I can’t complain. Prices are always great

For a place that’s supposed to have everything, I can never kill off an entire shopping list here. They sell a ton of stuff, but never the items you desperately need and have sped over to purchase. I also feel like they sell a lot more crap than Lowe’s for essentially the same prices. I need to stop being lazy and drive the extra couple of miles to Lowes because I am so done with Home Depot. It’s become the Wal-​Mart of home improvement stores.
