Holiday Inn Express & Suites Millington-Memphis Area

So glad the Hampton was all booked up this weekend! I made my reservation on-​line for the «whatever room you give me at this government rate» room. When I drove in, due to bad weather and road conditions, I went straight to the hotel to check in. Of course I realized it was only 1 pm. Of course, I knew my room may not be ready yet. The manager told the woman at the counter to just move me to another room. When se stepped away to actually check if my assigned room was ready, he stepped up and moved me to a king suite… I really didn’t NEED a king suite… but it was nice.
The hotel is CLEAN, everywhere clean… not just the lobby, not just the rooms… everywhere — Pool, Fitness room, Breakfast room… Everywhere.
The bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to get out of it the two mornings I had to do so… Okay, so I admit, this morning it was because of the «Spring Forward» of Daylight Savings Time and I felt I was due 1 more hour… but the bed is comfortable.
The king suite has a sofa, dining table, kitchenette (Microwave, fridge, sink, coffee station), bathroom (of course), closet and desk; in addition to the bed and a REALLY comfy arm chair with ottoman (yes, I fell asleep in it, reading).
The Holiday Inn Express has the typical/​standard holiday in «hot breakfast» which consists of sweet rolls, biscuits, gravy, scrambled (powdered) eggs, sausage or bacon, pancakes, cereals, fruit and miscellaneous breads/​waffles/​bagels/​english muffins to choose from. Can’t complain.
Although I didn’t spend inordinate amounts of time in the hotel, it was comfortable, clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
I would, and will, stay here again when I’m in Millington.

I’m leaving now unfortunately. I really miss friendly and kind staffs and cinnamon rolls and oatmeal cookies and herbal tea.
I can’t wait for the next trip here to Millington since I found and got more information about good local BBQ restaurants.
I wish I could give more stars here, if they renew their gym machines and put less chemical into the swimming pool.

This hotel is okay. You’re a healthy 30 minutes away from Memphis and some of the areas you have to travel to get there is a little less than desirable. Breakfast was nice and hot. Although not the hotel’s fault, but, there should be a sign about wearing shoes down to breakfast. I get that it’s nice you can walk out of your room and grab a hot breakfast — I don’t mind the pajamas, but, show some decorum folks and wear shoes. Please.
Not much in the area great to eat. .. there’s a Chili’s. .. call ahead and put your name in, otherwise, you’ll be waiting 45 minutes for a table.

Clean, Quiet, Friendly. Only complaint– my room has apparently flooded before my stay, rug was still wet. Mold in the shower. Coffee bad, I walked to teh Starbucks instead.

I’ve been staying at Holiday Inn Express for a number of years in multiple cities and multiple location. Each time my experience has been fantastic and for some reason I have not given them 5-​Stars often enough. Maybe it’s because of the words that pop up with 5-​Stars «WooHoo! As good as it gets!» … or maybe I need to reevaluate what that means.
I’m not comparing Holiday Inn Express to fancier, ritzier hotels, but for this price point, they ARE as good as it gets consistently! They provide large, clean modern rooms with very comfortable beds and very nice thread count sheets. They never fail to honor my ridiculous request of 8 additional pillows and give me a fantastic nightly rate. The décor is always very attractive. Many times they have indoor pools and ALWAYS have a lovely free breakfast selection. My only complaint is the orange juice tastes a little too strong and overly concentrated.

Millington, Tennessee proved to be a great location while visiting Memphis. We first thought it was too far outside the city and almost called to be relocated, but I’m very happy we didn’t. They even upgraded our free nights stay (after using our Priority Club points) to a Queen Suite.
Thanks Holiday Inn Express for another great stay and I’m happy to give you 5 Stars! Service was amazing and as always, we really enjoyed our ginormous room. You’re the best :-)

Checked in for a quick visit, we booked a room for a 1 day/​2 night stay. Lets begin: the non-​smoking room: discretely posted signs warn a $ 250 fine will be billed to your account, if non-​compliant; coming from smoke-​free CA, this is great! Our room smelled/​is clean, the air conditioner worked very well; 4 pillows (2 firm/​2 soft) per queen sized beds (I sleep w/​3 pillows), the sheets are very, very soft! Amenities: in rm mini fridge, microwave, mini hair dryer, coffee maker with tea/​coffee/​creamer packets, an iron w/​ironing board. Restroom: shower caps, mini toiletries provided. Plenty of towels — 5 full sized bath towels (that did not smell like the awful bleach-​y cleaning laundry solution), a shower that drained quickly! Hand towels and wash cloths aplenty; in case you forget yours, a Bible is thoughtfully provided in the night stand drawer. Pens with notepads in case you need to write something down. All the lamps worked, and the alarm clock is user friendly to set. The chair/​desk is clean and not beat up, the single arm chair in the room, comfortable.
We stayed in a room 317, right across from the elevator; convenient because the ice & vending machines were next to the elevator as well. The best part? You can’t hear the foot traffic at all! The walls/​door was virtually sound proof, and that made for a very restful sleep. The staff conveniently placed Otis Spunkmeyer cookies w/​serving tongs in the lobby. The staff: friendly, courteous and welcoming. They also questioned politely if you were an guest or visiting a guest, which spoke well of security. They are sure to make eye contact, and are quick to offer help. Southern hospitality indeed! The gym area: a T.V., 4 treadmills, and 2 elliptical machines for guests to use, the indoor heated swimming pool is clean, with lounge chairs, tables and plenty of towels on a rack, with a hamper beneath for your convenience. Restrooms in the area are available insidel. The best part? Not just anyone could use the pool. Only authorized guests (a la room key card) are able to enter.
The continental breakfast is served in a nice lounge that has ample seating; if its too crowded, one may eat in the room. A small lounging area with a love seat and two arm chairs is available for people to sit/​relax, a fireplace, though not used, added to the ambiance. Menu: pastries, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, biscuits w/​gravy (sorry, no sausage gravy), pre-​made omelettes, canadian bacon, cinnamon rolls under a heat lamp, asst’d cereal, oatmeal packets w/​a hot water dispenser, milk (F/​F, 1%, 2%, chocolate), bagels, breads for toasting, and a novel pancake maker that serves up 2 at a time in under 5 minutes! No Belgian waffles here. A machine with juices, sodas, and asst’d coffees for those needing their caffeine fix. I dropped the rating down to 4 stars, because the omelettes aren’t made to order, only 1 type of meat is offered (no bacon), and as I’m trying to go the vegan route, no plain or veggie omelette is available, other than what was mixed in w/​the pre-​made meat omelette.
Initially, Husband wanted to stay at the Easy 8 Motel down the street. Me? This is the way to go. You get what you pay for, and this is definitely one of those instances. I’m a hard sell, and am a fan of Holiday Inn Express, so far.

Overall, I enjoyed our stay and if we’re ever in Millington again we will stay here. The ladies at the check-​in desk and in the dining room were as sweet as they can be. I now know what people mean when they say «southern hospitality».
