The Bunkhouse at Broken Wheel Ranch offers comfortable, attractive, peaceful lodging in the beautiful Harlem Valley, minutes from Millerton and Amenia, NY and Lakeville and Sharon, CT.

Situated on a scenic hilltop overlooking rolling farmland, the Bunkhouse is your home away from home for long or short stays.

The Bunkhouse offers a bedroom, living room, fully supplied kitchen and bathroom in your own private building on the ranch. Coffee and tea are provided.

The Bunkhouse can sleep up to 4 guests. Linens are provided. Pets are not permitted.

The Broken Wheel Ranch is a working horse farm. You will hear the horses pass by early in the morning as they are fed and taken to pasture. All the horses are privately owned. There are designated areas for walking and viewing the horses at work or in pasture.

Broken Wheel Ranch does not offer horseback riding.

The Bunkhouse is less than 1 mile from the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. Nearby Farms offer fresh produce for sale in season.

History

Established in 1960.

The Broken Wheel Ranch is owned and operated by Margaret Beeman and her husband Dmitri Fedorjaczenko. Margaret is a third generation horsewoman who practices and teaches the skill of horsemanship to horse owners. The Broken Wheel Ranch was established by Margaret’s Father in West Cornwall, Ct in 1960. In 1983 Margaret moved to Millerton and continued the family business. The Bunkhouse was her Father’s residence until he passed away in 1999. In 2009 after many uses Margaret and Dmitri decided to turn the Bunkhouse into a vacation rental. When not occupied the Bunkhouse hosts meetings for local land trusts and rural conservation groups along with providing housing for students studying horsemanship with Margaret throughout the year.

Business Owner

A third generation Horsewoman, Margaret has helped owners and their horses for over 40 years. She has competed, trained and coached in a variety of disciplines. She is most known for her work with US Equestrian Team Member, Scott Monroe and his horse Shadow. Margaret took Scott on as an inexperienced hose person with a young untrained horse and brought them to 2 National Championships and top Singles Combined Driver in the US which landed him a place on the US Equestrian Team in 2002. Margaret retired from international competition in 2008. She now teaches horsemanship at clinics and workshops throughout the US and Canada along with maintaining a few clients and their horses at the ranch.
