If I could give zero starts, I would. And, this review may come off as rambling, so if you’re interested… read on. We were assigned this place by our warranty company, AHS, so we had no choice in the matter. I had to call them and set up the appointment, which is not typical since with AHS you normally get assigned a company and they call YOU to set things up. Once I called them to set up the appointment, the woman mentioned that they only accept cash for the $ 75 service fee. Can you say sketchy? I was kind of in a bind, so I decided whatever and did not try and change companies. The guy arrived during our 10 am to 2 pm window a couple days later. He identified the problem(leaky main water valve), and mentioned that he could not do anything until we had Baltimore City cut off the water going into the house. He said he could normally do it, but he was not sure where the cutoff valve outside was(there was snow all over the place), and that I should call the city and have them identify the area by tagging it with a flag. Fine. He said once we have them tag the area outside, that I should call him back directly so he could come back, cut the water from the city into the house, fix the leaky pipe, and then that would be that. He specifically wanted me to call him DIRECTLY and NOT go through the office. So, that’s what I did. The city said they only cutoff water outside and they don’t tag the area. So I had them cutoff the water(a nice $ 90 fee). I called the day after the city cutoff the water, and the plumber said he should be able to get to it in the next couple of days and that he would call me and let me know. No call. I called the plumber back a week later, and he said he should be over to the house by the end of the week. No call(luckily the house with the issue was a vacant lot). So, I decided to just call the office back directly(should have just done that from the start). They put me on the schedule for that Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm. 2 pm that Thursday rolled around, and no call. So, I called the office and they told me they were having trouble contacting the plumber assigned to my issue, and they would call me back shortly. No call. Finally around 3 pm, I called them back and they were amazed that I had not been contacted by the plumber. FINALLY they said he was on his way. Two guys arrived and they started the work. I asked them if there was anyway they could turn the water back on outside since the city would charge me another $ 90 fee. One guy looked at the other and kind of mentioned that they also charge a fee. Interesting, since initially the guy who first came over said he would cut the water off outside if he knew where it was. SO, I said to forget it and mentioned for them to just finish their work. So, they did, and they said«hey, we’ll turn your water on for you if you throw my buddy and I some cash for lunch». It was 4 pm… sketchy yet again… So, I said I didn’t have any cash on me. So, they finished up and they showed me how to send the water into the house once I got the city to turn it back on outside. Wouldn’t you, as a way to make sure you fixed the issue, turn the water on outside and verify that the main water valve was not leaking anymore? Maybe that’s just me. Whatever. So, they left. Minutes later they knocked on the door again and said«Hey, we went ahead and turned on the water for you since we were late» like it was nice of them to do that. Uh, no. Fine, they saved me from having to deal with the city, but only after they tried to get some more cash out of me. The issue was fixed, but I would never want to deal with this company again. I got the feeling that customers going through warranty were the least of their concern. I am going to call AHS and alert them to the shadiness of Mayes Plumbing.

I would give this company a 0 out of 5 if possible. Like other reviewers, my home warranty company sent this scam of a company out to fix a leak stemming from my tub. The plumber cut out a portion of my ceiling and said my waste and overflow was corroded and needed to be replaced — $ 475. I didn’t get a good vibe from this guy, as he told me the warranty wouldn’t cover it because it was«faulty installation» — umm, you just told me something else. He never even set foot in the bathroom. I had another plumber come out and he just needed to re-putty the tub drain — $ 60. He said you couldn’t even see the waste and overflow drain where the Mayes plumber had cut out the ceiling and come to find out, it was plastic — can’t be corroded! HORRIBLECOMPANY. AVOIDAVOIDAVOID!

My Home Warranty Company sent this company out. The plumber never left my living room and was guessing about what was wrong, telling me the warranty didn’t cover it. He not once verified what the problem was. He did however make sure he collected the $ 75 co-pay up front before saying or doing anything. No customer service whatsoever. Be very careful if this company is assigned to you not to pay before they’ve completed the work. He was a waste of time & money and I still have to call another plumber to come out and look at my pipe.

We have insurance from American Home SHield and they contracted this business for our plumbing issue. The first time they came, they just tightened fittings on the pipe. The leak just got worse. The second time they came, they replaced some pipes on my 1st bathroom, the leak is much worse. In my 2nd bathroom, they cut a piece of the pipe and replaced it, the pipe and fittings were not properly installed, it was sideways and the leak was also much worse. The 3rd time they came, they again tightened the fitting in the 1st bathroom, popping out the vanity from where it was sitting on the wall. They report to AHS that we need to replace the vanity and that they will charge us $ 325 for removal and installation of the new vanity. WHAT??? These people are crooks, they pretend to fix the issue but they damage your item so you can pay them for labor. I don’t think so. Beware of this business!

The Home Warranty Company sent me this company to service my issue. The guy wasn’t in the house more than 6 minutes when he presented an estimate north of 5 hundred dollars. He started the old code requirements this, upgrades needed for that. He got my service fee. I Blame the warranty company. I think this will cause me to drop them. I guess that’s what these Jack leg companies are doing now. They’re like buzzards. IF they can’t sucker you into a high dollar job, they at least have a few dollars short of a $ 100 for gas and«admin» fees. I would run fast when you here this company is assigned to you. This is why I love Unilocal. We the«suckers’ to these price gouging companies have a way of trying to save the next woman/man from a waist of time & money.
