History

Established in 2012.

Turkey Hollow Campground was established by a family who enjoys a quiet, primitive campsite when they travel the country and wanted to see the same thing made available right here in Holmes County. Our campers enjoy the natural beauty of the trees and hills around them without the presence and noise of motorhomes. As night falls they gaze up and view a big open sky of endless stars.

My husband and I along with our kids enjoy nature and the great outdoors. We have spent all but 5 years of our life in the country and have found Holmes County to be a beautiful place to live and raise a family. From kayaking local rivers to hiking in our own hills we’ve got it made here.

Turkey Hollow Campground has beautiful views, but is definitely primitive. The road is gravel and the gravel stops before reaching good tent areas, so it may be better suited for four wheel drive vehicles. Only $ 15/​night, this is a good price, but there is only a port-​o-​potty (no showers). There also aren’t many signs to help you find it (but that’s good to keep it less crowded).

Nice owners, great price, clean toilet, private, quiet setting very close to town and the Holmes County trail. Had a great weekend biking and camping here.

Primitive Camping used to be the way it was done: quiet, peace, and detoxing from the addiction that is modern technology. Now the primary advertisement for a campground is electric and water hookups, with game rooms and movie nights. All that’s fine, but the primitive camper is always shoved in a corner not quite far enough from the steady noise of generators and the great view of a sea of campers. You absolutely could not search and fine on the internet a primitive only campground… until now. Turkey Hollow was off the beaten path, private, very inexpensive and the biggest difference… the owners. They are extremely helpful. Just a few miles from Millersburg and near anything you want in Amish Country. If I was thinking hotel, I would simply buy a nice tent and stay at here instead and you would still probably save some money while being closer to nature.
