The Inn at Honey Run

Very disappointed. Arrived expecting a great time after all
the reviews. Room was very nice and clean. Overlooking
Wooded area. There were bird feeders near all the room
windows, however every one was empty. Very pricey on
food and drinks which was expected. But should be A-​1.
Dinner a total bummer. Slow service. Soup was served
cold. Salads without the dressing. My wife’s scallops
were under cooked and needed seasoning. My steak
ordered med. rare was rare. Wow. It is quiet.
That was the highlight.

My wife and I stayed here 1.5 weeks ago for our anniversary. It was going to be a 5-​star review until today, 10 days after our stay, a $ 21 charge showed up on my credit card. I called this morning and was told that it was because we didn’t return our room keys. I explained that we had returned them and even described the young lady that was working the desk who I gave them to. The lady I spoke with told me that she would look into it and call me back. I had not received a call back by this afternoon so I called again and was told that she was in a meeting and would be out in 20 minutes. She called me back 45 minutes later to tell me that my money was being refunded. I explained my frustration and she merely offered me an «oops, sorry.» No reason was given so I inquired as to what happened and was informed that they had mistakenly put the keys in the wrong folio. I explained how bad this was and was met with silence on the phone. She showed no understanding, just a brief sorry.
Running an unauthorized charge on my card is theft and I expected a more thorough explanation and resolution than this. Thus, I cannot recommend this Inn. Our stay was fantastic and we had planned on going back. We had raved about it to several friends who also planned on visiting. However, I do not know if I could trust them to run a legal and ethical business.

We stayed here this past week-​end while visiting Amish country and were very impressed. The scenery is gorgeous and we enjoyed walking the trails on their property. Not only do they have sheep there, it seems to be a birder’s dream as there are feeders all around and other people staying there were able to see cedar waxwings, indigo buntings, rose-​breasted grosbeaks and we could hear a catbird while walking near thickets. How thoughtful of the inn to have bird guides in our rooms, too.
After dinner, we enjoyed the fire-​pit that they started up every night surrounded by adirondack chairs for relaxation and made use of their game room inside which had a pool table and games to play. One of the coolest things we discovered while walking their trails was a group of rooms which were completely hidden underground except for the side where they could walk from each room out onto the grounds surrounded by flowers, plants and bird-​feeders. We were fortunate enough for 2 of the people staying there to be walking out and asked if we wanted to see their room. Each room has a gas fireplace and looked very nice, but the outside was unbelievable. Honestly, it looked like something from a fairy tale. If we go back, I’d like to stay there. I should also note that children are not welcome there.

What a lovely setting and facility. The Inn at Honey Run is in the peaceful woods with walking trails, birds, wild flowers, and sheep. Our room was perfect — clean and current with the bonus of a bird feeder outside our 2^nd story window. We enjoyed many small surprises and amenities during our stay.

Enjoyed my stay here buried deep inside the forrest. It feels homely and the interior of the rooms is set out nicely and is full of warmth. Beautiful private area in the woods. I spotted wild animals in the trees from laying on my bed. No microwave but the room service was good and they have a restaurant which has a high rating for a place to go eat at! Loved it here. Perfect cottage getaway to relax at!

Honestly, I just got back from this trip and I couldn’t be happier to be home. Let me start off by saying this trip was purchased as a package deal by LivingSocial thru an email ad that is COMPLETELY falsely advertised. I also am not a cheap person and don’t mind spending money on myself or my loved ones when I feel it is worth the cost. With that being said here was our experience:
The pictures in their Facebook/​LivingSocial ad are 10 0000x better than the real stay. It also makes the inn look as if it’s in this fun little upbeat town with a lot to do when that is absolutely not the case. The Inn is pleasant looking and freshly redone but that’s about the only thing worthy the one star in this one-​star review. I upgraded my base room that came with the package to a Select King for $ 50 more before we arrived for this supposedly «romantic getaway.»
As soon as we walked into our room it smelled of starting to rot garbage– tolerable but noticeable enough for me to say something to my boyfriend about its presence. Fine, I wasn’t going to complain because this was our time together. We unpack, dinner time rolls around and we go to Tarragon, their in house restaurant, and ate a $ 75 meal that probably in reality cost $ 20 in ingredients and tasted decent but not in the least bit impressive– especially when they claim to have this «amazing chef.» Again, I was not going to complain and let its outrageous price tag slide because it’s supposed to be a fun get away for us.
Our package also came with a movie night which featured a very small flat screen tv and stale pre-​popped pop corn: which I’ll admit I didn’t even try because I was too freaked out by how it smelled and looked. Not happy and slightly more irritated by this point.
Fast forward to breakfast– now the package I bought included a «mimosa breakfast.» This was my biggest disappointment– first you are served a hard as brick scone followed by sub-​par, lukewarm eggs, a very grey colored hash brown (I guess is what they were calling it) and half a Belgium waffle. The waffle was the only good part of the breakfast that ended up being a shocking $ 74 (which was pre-​paid for in my package) but had an extra $ 4.99 in taxes that I had to pay on top of tip money. When I asked our waitress about our included mimosas the waitress said yes, it was included but there was no alcohol sale on Sunday’s. HA! Shouldn’t I have been told that when I booked my stay?! At this point I’ve had it and my boyfriend is trying to be as supportive and calming as possible and I’m ready for check out.
We pack our bags and go for check out and to my surprise there is a mystery $ 75 charge that is still needing to be paid. (I think they just like the number $ 75 because that’s what everything costs it seems like). When I give her my complaints and ask to be compensated for the lack of quality and mimosas I was promised she said there was nothing she could do and should she «just charge the card she has in file?» Feeling very un-​sympathized with and irritated I say yes and get handed a receipt. Not only did I not get an apology from her that was actually the last thing she said to me! No «have a nice day» or «come back soon.» Nothing. She couldn’t wait for me to get out the door fast enough– presumably to get back to being unhelpful and unfriendly to the next guest.
Overall this was not worth the 4 hour trip I made out to this completely desolate location and the package I bought will be fought through my paypal account. My relaxing Amish country side retreat is, in reality, a money guzzling joke and I assure you we will never go back. I guess that’s what you get for vacationing in Ohio though…

I went here with my family many years ago, and recently returned with my fiancé for a weekend getaway. There’s been several changes since then, including a restaurant change, the fact that kids can no longer come (good if you’re looking for quiet!), and the addition of a flock of very cute sheep.
We stayed in one of the «honeycomb» rooms which was very quiet (must be all that earth around the room). We had a nice view outside, though I imagine this feature would be a bit more fun in the summer. Even so, the bird feeder was pretty active. Other features I appreciated were the Keurig machine, and the gas fireplace (so novel to turn on the fireplace with a wall switch!)
The grounds are beautiful — we enjoyed walking around the trails, and the location is very central for tooling around Amish country. We’d definitely come back again.

Very disappointed, we were there for our 10yr anniversary for just one night. Walked into our room and it look like we stepped back into 1970. The carpet in chairs clearly were originals and both disgusting. Called to see if we could upgrade but they were booked. The wanted to sit by the indoor fire place because it was sprinkling out and ask to have the fire started and was told they don’t start fires until November, WHAT?!? Also wanted to try the ‘letter boxing” which they add as a amenity but staff had no idea how to do it… For $ 219 a night I would except better service. We will never go back and I have already told people not to waste their money there.

This is a wedding review. Great location, beautiful views. The chef was great, correspondence with planner could have been a little better, but it was a special day.

My husband and I spent a fabulous weekend in the honeycomb room. From the charming ride into town, to the friendly, warm staff at the lodge, ending with the absolute best nights of sleep and relaxation we have ever had at any resort, our stay here was awesome! The price for the rooms were well worth every penny. We loved the amazing continental breakfast from attentive, pleasant staff. We left for church services on Sunday, and the cleaning professionals (they definitely were more than a cleaning crew) kindly freshened up our room while we were out so we wouldn’t be inconvenienced. The restaurant, Tarragon, was very good, and had such beautiful views. We definitely will be making this an annual retreat! Everything was top shelf, thoughtful and Zen!

Incredible gem tucked away in amishland. Definitely worth the trip! We have never stayed in the honeycombs but have eaten dinner here anytime we are in the area.

This place is soooo beautiful! Tucked away in the woods, it offers an opportunity to relax in a tranquil environment. When we arrived, the concierge invited us to have a glass of wine and appetizers in the restaurant. The chef creates different apps every night, we had the opportunity to taste his oyster sliders, they were delicious!
My husband and I stayed in the honeycombs, the room was spacious, we got a great use of our fireplace and the tarocco soaps/​lotions are a great addition to the experience. One night I was standing on the private patio and drinking wine, while I heard a horse gallop in the valley pulling a buggy. It felt so serene and magical.
The complimentary breakfast was pretty good, the pastries stood out. We tried the a‘la carte breakfast as well and it was great. Unlike the dinner, which was overpriced for what it was [I don‘t mind paying for a good fine dining experience] and the choices/​execution were not really interesting. The reason of our stay was not the food though, so I still think that The Inn at Honey Run offers a 5 star experience overall.

We just returned from a lovely weekend getaway to celebrate my husband’s birthday and are amazed at how relaxed and rejuvenated we are. We stayed in the Trillium Cottage in order to have a bit more privacy because we hadn’t been away together in quite a while and just needed a quiet retreat. The cottage and grounds reminded us of Falling Water because the transition from nature to the architecture is seamless. The 2bed/​2bath cottage has lovely floor to ceiling sliding glass doors and windows, a private deck, fireplace and jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed an amazing 5 course dinner that rivals those we’ve had at 5 star restaurants around the country. With only a 2hr drive separating us and the Inn, we’ll definitely return!

Honestly it was wonderful! My wife and I stayed in the Honeycombs (#423) on a Sunday and Monday night for a slightly reduced rate as part of a package (with 1 dinner, 2 breakfasts and a massage for 2 included), gratuity not included. a great great stay! I just read the other reviews to see what other people said and here is my response. stay on a high occupancy in-​season weekend, expect to pay more and enjoy your choice! From Boothbay Harbor Maine to Mackinaw Michigan to The Outer Banks N.C., Stow Vermont, and Snowshoe West Virginia (etc). part of enjoying life is appreciating the finer things in life! My wife grew up visiting Amish Country and she wanted to share it with me. so we set a budget, researched to find the best place to stay in the area, and then accommodated our schedule to meet our budget. I enjoyed myself so much that I’m actually mad about the post below mine. And oh yes. it rained! It made the trees a deep beautiful green (I’m an arborist so I guess you have to like trees to appreciate that). and it created the opportunity for me to spend some quality time inside with my wife. LOVED the atmosphere! We walked in the woods, visited the cheese place, the bread place, local pottery dealers, the chocolate factory, some awesome fresh pretzel place, checked out a bunch of antiques, went to 2 bulk food groceries for the Amish (saved 70% on some things compared to Columbus Oh), went to the Smuckers place in Orville (not the factory, disappointed but not the Inn’s fault). oh, also stopped at an Amish bakery (Dutch Apple Pie to die for). too much to say and too long already. The bottom line. food at the Inn was exceptional (breakfast and dinner), service was A++, couples massage also A++, Atmosphere was everything the pictures promise A++, and Value was worth the expense. Check this place out. really thats all that needs to be said.

One of the finest inns at which I have ever stayed. Beautiful facility, high quality restaurant, engaged and helpful staff. We chose this as the place for our 10^th anniversary. You will feel pampered here.

There is a satisfaction in going to a room where everything has been put there for your pleasure. The little rocking horse on the fireplace? The CD, playing music when you enter? The gorgeous panoramic view of pastoral Amish country from your hotel window? The fine bathrobes in your closet, the shower with sage hair conditioner and aromatherapy?
The Inn at Honey Run is designed to make you feel safe, comfortable, and warm. Which it does.
You need to stay at the hobbit holes — it’s a series of eight rooms actually buried in the ground, your circular patio opening up into a rock-​lined view where you can step out and down the hill, if you so please. It is one of the prettiest vistas you will find in Ohio, and even more so if you wish to go on one of the many nature trails winding their way through the facilities. (Umbrellas, walking sticks, bird guides, and books are there for the taking. The sheep and goats in the pastures refuse steadfastly to be petted, but you can go walk around the pond and watch the birds land.)
Or meander on down to the clubhouse, where an astoundingly friendly staff will invite you to site in their comfortable seats, serve you drinks, tell you about the area. Or you can go to their restaurant (the best we’ve found in Amish country, which is damning with faint praise in the Land of Buffets and Fried Chicken, but it really is quite good) and look out over the terrace at waving green woods and nature.
Or you can get a massage down at the spa. The massage is pricey. So is the Inn. Shut up and pay, and relax; you didn’t come here for your cheapest bargain, you came here because for a weekend you can get away from it all, and here it feels like civilization is so far away even the phones can’t touch you. You are in a bubble of wilderness and friendly folks, and it is glorious.
Such a place could be froo-​froo. This is not. It’s all hard wood and manly couches, and sure it’s got some soft edges if you want them, but what this is is just relaxation in one wondrous place.
Wake up, eat a good breakfast, walk in the woods, go driving to see the Amish with their buggies and wooden furniture, come back, have dinner, have a massage, make love to someone you love, drift off in a four-​post bed. If that sounds good to you, then I’d make the reservation now. They go fast.
