I feel like the sushi at Sakura was overpriced as others were saying. It was average sushi, I actually remember it being better before the remodel. The waitress almost dropped the cork in our wine. I really wasn’t that impressed and we are avid sushi eaters.

This is a really great sushi spot for the area. The quality is very good and the prices are not too crazy. They are family friendly and the service is quick. I’d love to see a few korean dishes added to the menu and some more creative rolls. Welcome back!

The selection in the menu is overwhelming. There is quite a bit to choose from, but my recommendation is to cut right to the tar tar and special sushi rolls. The fish is fresh and the the presentation overall is fantastic, would recommend!!!

Not one to leave reviews but felt compelled. The sushi here is excellent for two simple reasons: 1. Quality ingredients. My taste buds are nodding in agreement. The fish is fresh. Good to see a restaurant not cheapen out on such an important aspect. 2. Amazing creativity. Nice variety of different rolls created in-house. I LOVE the ‘Firecracker’. a unique combo of tuna, salmon, mango, fried onions, and special hot sauce. Best roll I have ever had and has me coming back on a weekly basis. Nice atmosphere and great service. Emily and the rest of the staff are super friendly and offer suggestions. Owner is a nice guy, very personable and cares about his customers.

Went again but this time for dinner. Very disappointed with the service. 1. Some of the serving ware was filthy and had ask for clean ones. 2. Wife ordered brown rice, she got white. No apologies. 3. After we ate, I was still hungry so I asked about how they make the broth for their ramen. The description was«white broth». The server said the broth was made out of pasta. PASTA? The broth is made from pasta? She kept saying yes. I said, «are you sure, that’s sound very strange. Do you mean the noodles are like pasta?» She said it was a pasta broth and went to ask another server, than another one, than finally to the kitchen to ask the chef. She came back and shoved a smart phone in front of me with a photo of the carton the broth comes in. It was pork. Perhaps it was a language issue(I never understood why restaurants would hire a server who didn’t speak English well) and along with the fact she was just guessing. So I said you serve ramen from pre-made broth? Do you make your own noodles? «no». She said she doesn’t get many orders for ramen so they don’t have the time to make it from scratch, we are a sushi restaurant, not a noodle bar. Okay, then take it off the menu! The place was surprisingly busy, and not sure why folks eat there when Umi sushi is just down the street and the service and food is better. The lunch deal was good but won’t go back again. Mind you, no issue with the sushi itself(though there was a bit too much wasabi in my CA roll) but service is too big of a deal for me and this place needs has no clue.

Best sushi in town. Tasty green ice tea. Consistently, high quality food. A family favorite. Thank you, Sakura.

Fresh sushi served on beautifully decorated boats and plates. We’ve been coming here a lot since my relatives live nearby. We’ve tried the salmon sashimi, sushi & sashimi for two, plus a variety of different rolls. The salmon melts in your mouth!

When one of the nicest things I can say is that they have their own parking lot, it’s clear that I was not blown away. My wife and I went and had made a reservation. When we arrived, they tried to seat us at the Sushi bar. If we’d wanted to sit at the bar, we wouldn’t have reserved a table. So we had to wait about 10 – 15 minutes which wasn’t so bad, but it was still a bit of a head scratcher. The sushi is good enough. Nothing spectacular. The tempura in the rolls was far too heavy. The special rolls were fine. It’s a pretty standard sushi joint that’s not offering anything truly special. The prices are a touch high, but in line with the restaurant’s location. There’s just not anything that distinguishes it from other local locations. Good enough if you’re local, but not really a destination location.

Sushi here is fresh. Def much fancier on the inside than it looks from the outside. Place is BYOB as are most spots in this town. Everything else here was just OK for me. Rolls are a bit on pricier side for jerzy, but better than options near by i believe. Not bad at all, will stop by if around. solid option for lunch along w milburn deli. OK for me.

I’m waffling between 2 and 3 stars here… it was just okay. Sushi was not all that fresh(I was glad I only ordered one roll), and tempura had SUPER thick batter. However, the chicken tempura entrée was generous and included both onion and eggplant that were delicious. Service was adequate, although I’m fairly certain the waitress forgot my table for a little while. I won’t be running back.

The pace of service was so choppy. We sat down and just received menus before the server asked for our orders. I ordered shrimp fried rice and the ISO roll. The fried rice came out about 25 – 30 mins after my sushi. I had to ask the server to cancel or just put my fried rice in a to go container. I think the place is decent but the special was not spectacular… By any means. It had spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. But costed $ 14? If My memory serves me correctly. Hours later when I finally had my fried rice I must admit it was delicious! Overall, this place has better food than Sapporo on the street parallel to Essex but definitely overpriced.

Great sushi. Amazing rolls. Terrible wait staff, terrible management. And if you order takeout, be prepared for three drops of soy sauce poured in to a tiny to-go cup. Not kidding.

After trying a few local sushi places we went to Sakura on a recommendation. It is our new go-to sushi place! The menu is extensive and the food is fresh. The décor and ambiance is also nicer than your average sushi spot. Best part is they deliver! We ordered in tonight and the bento boxes were great — tons of food and delivered quickly. Definitely recommend!

Sakura, what happened? You were our consistent local sushi place since we moved here. We were there about two weekends ago and ordered a relatively small, non-complex order — two rolls(non-special, just normal maki rolls), and about eight pieces of sushi. It took around 45 minutes and us getting up to leave, after asking nicely what was up. People that were seated after us were getting their main dishes while we were still waiting. We stuck around afterwards, but getting up to leave and saying«please cancel our order, it’s been 50 minutes now» shouldn’t be what expedites an order. I get it that things can go south, but if your team can’t adjust accordingly, that’s just too bad. We’d go back again — but we’d order an appetizer or something.

this is my wife’s fav sushi joint… we have tried sushi at a lot of places but for some reason she keeps coming back to sakura… we did like Morimoto and tomo in nyc but it cant be your regular sushi joint… Sakura is very affordable… and fish is also very fresh… I also have one suggestion, i ordered a fatty tuna and i should say i wasnt impressed(not with the quality but with the cut of the fish) we do also take outs from here but somehow food at this restaurant is better dined in than taken out…

Lucky me, I got sat next to a this mother and daughter who bickered the whole time. Daughter throws a temper tantrum and I spent half of my dinner listening to the train wreck. However, the staff apologized and were very gracious about it. My date and I even got a comped dessert for it. The space is bright and has that«fancy» look to it. You know, white table clothes and such. But the staff didn’t treat me any differently when I walked in with muddy shoes and jeans from my hike. I really appreciated that. I’m usually nervous about walking into a spot and not being dressed like I should be. So kudos for the excellent service. As for the food, it was delicious like the last time I visited and the portions are huge. The dinner boxes are well worth the price tag and will leave you with enough left-overs for a next-day lunch. Or in my case, a snack. Just because left-over sushi is such a posh movie snack. The fish here is fresh, the rolls and sashimi are delicious. Their salad dressing is dynamite. Shumai was a bit weird but still edible. Oh, and did I mention the green tea ice cream? So yummy. This place is definitely worth going to.

Oh baby I like it raw! I’ve toured around the world but Sakura has the best sushi from traditional to modern. I have never had a bad meal nor bad experience here. The rice consistency within sushi and hand rolls is just right. It doesn’t fall apart nor does it clump and overpower. My favorite hand roll is the Magic roll(very refreshing) followed by the Kiss Fire roll(a little smokey). They’re a little bigger than traditional rolls, but hey, don’t fuss, just put it in your mouth. Thank God they don’t use mayonnaise. For more traditional rolls, I recommend the Eel Avocado and the Spicy Tuna. They all have great balance in flavor and texture. If you have a sweet tooth, i suggest one of these three for dessert: fried ice cream, regular ice cream, or mochi ice cream. I usually get the green tea mochi ice cream since it has a nice, subtle smokiness. I don’t recommend the other desserts on their menu since I’ve seen other restaurants offer the same thing. Sakura’s excellent for lunch, especially for taking back to the office. Your coworkers will be jealous.
