Nor-​Cal did a fabulous job on some recent scheduled stain touch-​ups. The work was outstanding. His team 3 years ago did a wonderful job staining my entire home. A massive job was delivered on-​time, budget and the quality was outstanding. Also did exterior painting. I would hire him again which is what I recently did. He is very very far on pricing.

It’s a rare thing to find a company that offers top quality workmanship, excellent speed at getting the work done and competitive pricing. Nor-​Cal Wood Restoration and Painting delivers on all of the above and more. Blaine and his team worked magic on my cedar-​shingled home. They power washed and brightened the shingles and painted the trim, doors and window frames. They also cleaned my rain gutters and skylights to add extra sparkle. The exterior now looks practically brand new and I a couldn’t be happier with the outcome. In addition, I found Blaine’s professionalism to be truly extraordinary. He followed through on everything he represented (and then some!) and checked in regularly regarding progress and to make sure everything was not just acceptable, but perfectly to my liking. In sum, Blaine and his crew are nothing short of wood magicians. These are the guys I would recommend to anyone who wants their home to shine!

I used Unilocal to locate this vendor and have our decks refinished, a major mistake. Prior to Blaine starting work I thought he would be a great fit, he returned calls promptly and was very detail oriented with the bid, which did come in higher than the other three bids we received but we moved forward. The first mistake was I voiced concern with rain and Blaine stated «accuweather says it will not rain» and it did 1 day after the project was completed. We had a lot of build up from the previous owners over staining the deck and Blaine’s company left A LOT of this residual on the wood and stained over it — another mistake. Once the work was started Blaine was not present and did not respond promptly. The finished product looks as though our decks were tie-​died, it is a very unprofessional job especially for the amount of money we paid for this project. WE contacted Blaine several time to have him come and fix his work and he did send over a worker who fixed ONLY the front deck but left the THREE remaining back decks with the tie-​dyed uneven blotchy refinish job. After Blaine’s unresponsiveness I finally contacted him again and had him give me the product and color he used so we could have a professional deck re-​finisher correct the problems, it took at least three weeks to get the color and product combination from Blaine — oddly he was very resistant to giving the information. This was really very challenging, we bought this house 3 years ago and have had work continuously on this house and this was the only contractor that we had any problems with. I would not use or recommend Blaine or his company.

Blaine and his team have been great to work in both painting our deck and staining our shingles. He is straight forward and did an amazing work bringing the shingles to a beautiful hue. We highly recommend him and his team.

I agree with the other glowing reviews of this company. They did a superb job power-​washing and staining our Sausalito home. When it came time to pick a color Blaine stepped in and suggested a blend of three stain colors which worked perfectly and now the home looks new and beautiful again. I can assure you that Nor-​Cal Wood Restoration and Paining Company was a great choice and worth every one of the five stars they earned.

Nor-​Cal Wood just completed a fairly large project at our home and we are extremely pleased with the outcome. Blaine’s crew is professional, punctual and very talented. Our house looks new again. I interviewed three of the top-​rated painting contractors listed on Unilocal,and finally settled on Blaine Robles at Nor-​Cal for my project in Marin. He had the most detailed and conscientious bid. His attention to detail, his knowledge of paint materials, and the quality of his analysis and review of the project, was really outstanding.
Now the project is all done, and how pleased I am! The finished project lives up to the initial impression! It is terrific.
My large house does have a lot of high-​up, and steeply pitched areas, which are difficult to reach. Blaine’s crew were totally capable, so polite, professional, and hard working.
The finished result is truly beautiful, with a wonderful combination of shingle stain, white wood trim, gray porch painting, and black metal railing and gate surfaces. Large and small details were all executed perfectly.

We had the pleasure of working with Nor-​Cal Wood Restoration in Jan/​Feb 2013. Blaine and his team did a great job painting our cedar shingle home. Blaine was very patient with us as we went through a variety of different color samples and his work crew were very courteous onsite. Most impressive was the attention to detail, cleaning up spills and making touch ups to ensure that the job was done right.

Blaine and his team did a great job painting my house in Mill Valley. The house is shingled and had not been painted in over 15 years. There was a lot of scraping, prep and repair work that needed to be done before painting and his team did a great job of prepping the house and cleaning up afterwards.
We were not sure how much shingle replacement/​repair would be needed so we agreed a time and materials budget for that work — which came in lower than I expected.
Whereas Blaine manages the job, his workers are the guys who do the job. I can’t say enough about how courteous and professional they were. They always arrived on time, kept a very tidy work site and discussed each stage of the job with me. Hard workers and nice guys!
Bottom line: The house looks great, the neighbors all complement the work, and the price was reasonable.

Extremely pleased with Blaine and his team. He took what could have been a very expensive project and proposed a much more reasonably priced solution and now our decks are safe and look amazing. The workers are caring, on time and trustworthy. We will use Blaine and his team again for future projects.

I just had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with Blaine. I contacted him to paint our fence to match the deck stain he did for us. Long story short he completely rushed the job and we ended up with two different looking stains, when the idea was to have the fence and deck match. I expressed disappointment with the result of the fence color, which turned out orange instead of rich brown. He avoided me and gave me the runaround for over 2 months! He finally made time to come by to discuss our dissatisfaction and his solution was to have us pay to fix it! I don’t know what kind of successful business asks clients to pay to fix mistakes that occurred because of their own sloppiness and errors. My advice is to never pay before you see the end result. And I would NOT recommend working with his shady company. Don’t let him fool you when he says that he always has happy customers. There are many other reputable painters so take your business elsewhere.

Blaine met with me during his busy season. He explained that my job was a bit small for him to take on immediately and walked me through options that fit our timing and budget. We got exactly what we needed! His crew did an fantastic job stripping our back deck and front stairway handrails, then re-​staining each accordingly. I’ll be hiring him again in the next month for another project. Blaine and company clearly know what they’re doing!

Blaine and his crew did an amazing job on our house. They restored the cedar siding and repainted the trim and it looks better than new. They were very professional and thorough, and took care to protect everything during the work. I cant recommend them highly enough, and I found Blaine very easy to work with.

Blaine and his team are outstanding. We recently purchased a house with cedar shingles that were weathered on the south side, and in great condition on the north side of the house. Nor Cal’s quote was competitive with other quotes, but they provided a better quality product; ie two coats (vs 1 coat), they stripped, powerwashed and stained the entire house (not just the south side), and they even powerwashed our entryway stone pavers.
Blaine was super responsive throughout the process, he took the time to explain which stain to use, why, etc, and the guys that work for him are quality guys, super friendly and hard working. Blaine’s team showed up on time, worked full days, and were done within a week.
We definitely would recommend Nor Cal to anyone considering wood staining or painting, and I’m sure we’ll be using them again (and again!)

We are do it yourself homeowners except when it comes to certain things… one being the repair and staining of our redwood deck. We skipped a few seasons, not sealing the deck, so it was dried out, some of our nails were dislodged, fascia was in poor shape, and it was very dirty.
I browsed online and made a few selections of companies to contact for estimates to repair and stain our deck. Blaine from Nor-​Cal Wood contacted me right away, made a visit to our home, provided an estimate that was spot on, and made some good suggestions on cleaning and staining our wood fence to enhance the curb appeal of the home.
In just a week, the deck was cleaned, prepped, stained and dry. Blaine helped us select colors that complimented the remodeling we did earlier in the year, which was very helpful. The work was done on time, did not exceed the estimate, and today, it looks as nice as the day it was finished. Nor-​Cal Wood made us feel like our job was as important as one of their larger restoration projects. We think it looks great and our neighbors agree!

We are SO glad that we found Nor-​Cal! We recently moved into our first house (yay!) and knew that we needed to re-​stain the shingles, but I almost cried when we started getting bids for the work that were 4x what we thought it would be (boo!). We took our time, did a lot of research and collected 4 different bids for the work before speaking with Blaine at Nor-​Cal. We wanted the best work for the best price and Nor-​Cal fit that bill perfectly. Blaine took A LOT of time educating us about what needed to be done and the best way to do it. We knew we’d like to work with him — even the other companies we spoke to thought highly of Blaine! — so we were thrilled when his bid came in at a very competitive price.
We admit that are those annoying, picky type of homeowners but Blaine is a true professional that eased our every concern. He took several hours on a weekend to drive us around to different houses in the area to show us different colors, so that we would know what color we wanted to end with up, which was a big concern of mine. We were able to have a custom color that made us very happy. Blaine came over multiple times and walked through our entire property, inspecting the job with us, down to the tiniest of details, to make sure that we were satisfied that they did the job properly. There was no skimping in this process.
We were also impressed with the crew. They worked hard, kept the outside nice and clean when they left, pointed out things that we should look out for in the future, showed up on time and were nothing but first-​rate professionals.
I’m comfortable that we won’t have to pay to re-​stain the house again for many years, but when it comes time to do this again, there is no doubt we’ll call Nor-​Cal.

A first class operation – great work at a reasonable price.
We have a large, multilevel deck system which is a major architectural feature of our house. It had not been refinished in several years and was in bad shape – we live in Marin County up in the redwoods, which are beautiful but messy trees, and very hard on any wood surfaces. NorCal powerwashed everything, countersunk a lot of the nailing, sanded and restained the whole system, including the railings – it came out great. The materials they use are top quality – not the inferior product that is used by a lot of others. The crew was very professional – showed up on time, very clean, and super acommodating. They really took pains to make sure we were satisfied, and were very nice guys to deal with. They also worked around some very adverse weather conditions. We would recommend them highly.
