Hannah’s Edible Art

Hannah’s Edible Art is aptly named; I can’t think of a better way to describe her impressive and delectable creations. On top of it all, Hannah is a joy to work with.
My husband and I first met Hannah in 2006 when we were planning our wedding. Neither of us are vegan, but I was especially drawn to her uniquely beautiful cakes when I saw a picture of one in a high-​end wedding magazine. Despite the source, Hannah is not at all presumptuous and her prices are very reasonable. We asked Hannah to create a cake for our engagement party and the result was a treat to the eyes, nose and palate. (We chose her almond cake with chai buttercream for the bottom tier and yellow cake w/​coconut for the shorter top tier.)
Searching through my emails and reading the correspondences to name the flavors above, I realize how particular I was as a bride and marvel at Hannah’s patience and warmth.
In December of 2012, when it came time to celebrate our son’s first birthday, I immediately thought of Hannah. Fortunately, she was still practicing her craft. Going on an email message or two, Hannah created a jaw-​dropping rocket ship cake. I especially remember and appreciate all the little details from the edible star confetti to the heart-​felt brush work to the pulled sugar flames (and more). It well exceeded my expectations.
I sincerely hope Hannah will be inspired to continue making cakes for years to come.

I had the pleasure of working with Hannah for our wedding on March 2, 2013. I’m so grateful that I found Hannah for our wedding. I was looking for a cake that could be made gluten free and diary free. I have really bad food allergies and I thought I was out of luck. I happened across Hannah’s Edible Art and I’m so grateful she was able to do our wedding cake.
We met with her about 6 months before our wedding did a cake tasting. I’m really surprised at all the wonderful flavors she could do. We tried almond vanilla, green tea, chocolate mocha, chocolate raspberry and many more. She let us customize the cake and design it with our «enchanted forest» theme. Hannah did a wonderful job and went above and beyond expectations. We had a 3 layer cake with 2 different flavors. We picked almond vanilla and chocolate mocha. Hannah designed a chocolate tree coming up the side of the cake and put butterflies and flowers on the side of the cake as well. It looked breathtaking and I would highly recommend her to anyone!

First things first — the flavors! I definitely recommend doing a tasting, because you might be surprised by which ones you end up choosing. We thought for sure we were going to want a vanilla cake with strawberries, but everything we sampled was delightful and in the end we went with green tea cake with coconut cream and chocolate cake with peanut butter mocha buttercream and raspberry jam. The flavors and texture were impeccable. Plus, Hannah is extremely generous with the portions, so we had a TON left over.
Also, Hannah’s artistry is superb. She worked with us to discuss our vision, and in the end the cake was simply stunning. We wanted something pretty simple with a few flourishes, and she created a gorgeous white cake with a cherry blossom pattern and a few lotus flowers in just the right shade of purple — it was incredible to see how well the finished product resonated with the image I’d had in my mind.
Finally, Hannah is simply a pleasure to work with. She spent quite a bit of time at the tasting just chatting with us to get a sense of our personalities and our taste, and she was always extremely warm and professional in each email exchange.

Hannah just did the cake and cupcakes for my wedding and I couldn’t have been happier. They were beautiful and delicious! Hannah really took her time to make sure I was getting my dream cake and that it was displayed well the night of the wedding. I think I had 4 different flavors including the cake and cupcakes and they were all amazing. Hannah also hand made little chocolate fish and sea life to adorn the cake and cupcakes and they were each little works of art. Thanks Hannah!

I chose Hannah to make my personal wedding cake because I am gluten, dairy, and soy intolerant. She made my husband and I a peanut butter, chocolate, espresso cake; three of our favorite flavors. I have to say that hands down this was the best cake I have ever had. Eating Hannah’s cake made me realize that you really don’t need all of that other stuff added. It was incredible! Hannah is clearly dedicated to helping those with dietary sensitivities. But, I would have to say that she may just have the best cake around, regardless. To top it off, the cake was absolutely beautiful. Thank you Hannah for doing what you do! Definitely referring others and coming back myself!

Hannah works as a perfectionist should! She creates desserts so beautiful and creative that I cannot bare to eat them, yet I do because the chocolate mocha and cinnamon spice are so delicious.
She is a pleasure to work with and has a great attitude about life and her work!

We just got married and Hannah made the most beautiful and delicious cake that exceeded our wishes and expectations. She took lots of time working with us to get a really clear understanding of the specific design elements we were looking for. The end result was a cake that looked and tasted fantastic. She even did one layer of it gluten free for some of our family and honestly I could not taste a difference between the two. We can’t wait for another special occasion for which we can have Hannah make us another masterpiece!

Hannah is the best of the best. Not only do her cakes taste and look amazing, but she is a wonderful person.
When I saw the cake flavors she offered I knew she was the one for me, so of course I was a bit nervous going into the cake tasting. I had my heart set on a green tea or chai flavored cake and if the cake didn’t taste as good as it sounded I didn’t know what I would do. thank goodness every flavor was fantastic.
We decided on the green tea cake with the mango ginger filling for two tiers and a chocolate mint cake with a cherry filling for one tier. She designed the cake for me based on the style I liked from her portfolio and then matched the sugar flowers to the flowers I had in my bouquet. she also matched the tier borders to the pattern on my dress.
Hannah made us a separate anniversary cake, so we wouldn’t have to worry about having enough cake for the guests.
Everybody at the wedding was amazed that the cake was vegan, many comments of «it’s so moist» and «the fondant is vegan too» and «are you sure this is vegan»
Hannah was prompt in returning my emails, clear when answering my questions, arrived on time with my cake and was all around wonderful. I will find a reason to order another cake from her someday :)

We are at sfo, ready to go to our honeymoon, but i wanted comment on awesome wedding cake Hannah made for us. I know i’m biased but it was the most preciously cute cake i’ve ever seen! And the cake is yummy yummy!!! Hannah was also very easy to work with and exact in matching our visions together. Hannah, thank you for placing the cake exactly @ 5. ;)

One of my favorite pastimes is watching those cooking shows on TV. Especially the ones where they make wedding and specialty cakes. While I am a very good cook, I am a horrible baker and I can really appreciate a well prepared cake.
For my recent 30^th reunion Hannah prepared a beautiful cake for our class president. It was so beautiful that at first I couldn’t tell it was a cake, it looked more like a work of art.

There were very specific dietary restrictions for my daughter’s wedding cake. Hannah spent a lot of time with us reviewing our needs and came up with an absolutely fabulous cake that was as delicious as it was beautiful. The cake was delivered to the reception on time and arranged beautifully. We even got an extra cake to take home and enjoy. The guests raved about how moist and delicious the cake was. It truly was an edible work of art.

Hannah’s creations are so much more than cake — she makes GORGEOUS art masterpieces that are also incredibly delicious! When I found her website and saw her exquisite designs, I wanted one. Then we met her and tasted several delectable samples. She was so friendly and flexible, and even makes vegan and organic options that are divine. She took my vague ideas and preferences and created the absolutely perfect cake for us. It was more than we wanted to spend, but it was worth it. (See photo I posted on this page.) Everybody raved about how beautiful, creative and tasty our cake was. It’s almost two years later and I can still remember how yummy it tasted. To say we had to deal with challenging dietary needs for our wedding cake is an understatement — the cake needed to be gluten — free (no wheat, no soy), dairy free and vegan as well. I was afraid that to meet these requirements we would have to sacrifice taste. We were delighted to find Hannah — the cake she made was DELICIOUS and like a piece of art — it was a huge cake and not a bit was left over. And best of all, Hannah made it stress free and effortless. Get your cake from Hannah and breathe a sigh of relief that your cake will be perfect on your special day.

I am not vegetarian, but I felt proud to offer something special, responsible, and classy to my guests at my wedding. Most importantly, Hannah is a joy to work with. She demands as much perfection as you would do for yourself in design, execution, delivery, setup, etc. all with consideration for your budget. Trust like that in a vendor is priceless during any event planning. A year later, I contacted Hannah last minute for a cake for my husband’s 30^th. I simply told her what he enjoyed doing, and she created a cake that was «him». I will go to her again and again.

What an amazing combination of beauty and taste these confections have! HEA made our wedding cake, and people rave about it to this day. We talk about its beauty, we talk about its taste (no one ever guessed it was vegan!), but what I could go on and on about is the fantastic customer service from start to finish. We tasted all the delectable flavors, picked our design, and then this gorgeous, delicious cake magically appeared at our wedding location. No bride wants to be fretting last minute details, and with HEA, you at least know the cake is covered! I can’t recommend them more highly.

Oh. My. Goodness. If I could have Hannah Tai make every cake I ate for the rest of my life, I would.
My husband and I are vegetarian with vegan aspirations. We got married this past July and tasted cakes from a bunch of different places, both vegan and non. Half the cakes we tasted were so sickly sweet that we couldn’t take more than a bite. The others were boring or just so-​so, not to mention outrageously priced!
I’d been hesitant at first to consider a vegan cake because most of the guests at our wedding were not vegan and I didn’t want them to think the cake tasted like «vegan fare.» Although we had a completely vegan wedding, we kept that a secret in the hopes of changing some minds about what it means to eat cruelty-​free.
After looking at Hannah’s incredibly beautiful cakes and listing of specialty flavors, I knew I’d found something amazing. We met for a tasting and I was absolutely blown away. Her cake is by far the best I have *ever* tasted *anywhere* and she doesn’t expect your first-​born child as payment! She uses fresh, organic ingredients and custom designs each cake (if you haven’t seen her website, they are the most beautiful cakes you’ll ever encounter).
At our wedding, guest after guest complimented us on the wedding cake. Not only was it the most gorgeous cake anyone had ever seen (email me for a pic if you wish!), it shocked and amazed even our carnivorous friends with how wonderfully delicious it tasted. I can’t recommend Hannah’s services more.
