David Wong – State Farm Insurance Agent

I’m not one to write Unilocal reviews… however good customer experience and exceptional customer advocacy makes me feel compelled to share. I recently asked for a quote for my auto insurance and being like many looked for the cheapest policy Esurance, Geico, and other online retailers made competitive quotes. By divine random chance I was referred to David Wong State Farm insurance in Mill Valley, CA. I shared my needs as I thought they were and was quoted… my quote was higher than expected when I asked why I was floored by the response. In less than ten minutes David Wong shared the intricate details of what coverage actually meant and more importantly where my long-​term risk are with liability. I realized how perilous I’ve been all these years by being underinsured and how I’ve put my family at risk. For a few dollars more I have far more comprehensive coverage and peace of mind knowing that if we find ourselves in harm’s way we the right coverage and amazing agent in David Wong.

My wife recently was in a fender bender. Stop everything! Cancel all appointments! The day’s ruined. So sad that no matter how small the contact the emotional impact is frightening. Take a breath and take pictures. Call David and Priscila, their office, because they care and they know what to do. The amount of personal time and conversation regarding all the questions we had and how to handle the situation… it was super beyond the scope of duty. It happened in the evening while they were away for the weekend, They both responded to our somewhat frantic texts and calls within a short time maybe an hour. They talked us through not only this event but the inevitable sharing of every accident we were ever involved in and those my friends had… They shared stories of other incidents. Related their expertise. Basically, when you need your agent, you really want them to be there as soon as possible. Both Priscila and David talked to both my wife and I until every aspect of our concern and every question we had was addressed. You could not ask for or get better service. This included another set of conversations related to the eventual outcome of the event. Thank you both and a review well earned.

These people are completely incompetent through and through. If you have no other choice, talk to Linda, she seems to be on top of it. Go anywhere else.

Having moved twice in the past year, Beth has always made our transition easy and has done it in a very patient and friendly manner. She has guided us through two claims, one of which we were able to get solved without it raising our rates! I’ve been insured through David Wong’s office for three years and could not be happier with the personalized customer service I receive. It sincerely reminds me of the commercials! I’m not kidding. I work with Beth and she has been tremendous in helping me with our home insurance and most recently processing a claim for an accident I was involved in. She held my hand through the entire process and made sure I understood my coverage. Aside from being personable and prompt she genuinely had my best interest at heart. She handled the situation so well between me and the party I hit, that THEY ARE SWITCHING their insurance to State Farm and working with Beth. That speaks volumes about her and the amazing customer service she delivers. I’m truly grateful.

My insurance policies have been with Beth at David Wong’s office for years now and couldn’t be happier with their professionalism and responsiveness with all of my insurance needs. Everyone in this office genuinely cares about their clients and all the relationships they’ve built throughout the process. I would particularly recommend Beth, she is an EXPERT when it comes to life insurance! I can always trust her to point me in the right direction.

I recently switched to State Farm and David Wong for my cars, and my experience has been horrible. I just switched back to GEICO.
1. David’s office seems to have a revolving door of people — I have worked with 3 people in the last 6 months — one after the other as they leave. The staff that takes over doesn’t seem to want to be responsible for any actions of the prior staff, nor do emails get returned. How difficult is it to turn off email if a staff member leaves so customers emails don’t go into a black hole?
2. They have quoted me auto insurance rates, only to find out a few weeks later that the actual bill was TWICE what I was quoted. This is after his office took 3 days to confirm each of our records and went back and forth on the ratings for both drivers. What made it worse was that I happened to open the paper mail envelope which had the details of the policy, as David’s office never called me to let me know that the rates were double what they quoted. This is the worst. A) I understand underwriting has the final say, but given that his office did the research, there shouldn’t have been a change and B) if there is a change, the ownership is on the agent to let me know instead of hoping that I don’t catch it? A change that doubled my insurance?
3. I unfortunately had to file an auto claim last month when my wife’s car was mildly damaged by debris falling off a truck on the highway. Horrible experience with State Farm. (Not David’s fault). A) emergency roadside assistance — kept on passing the ball back and forth between roadside assistance (outsourced) and State Farm agents. 90 mins go by post accident and they can’t figure out how to get a tow truck. Roadside assistance needs a claim filed first, and claims passes it to roadside assistance as its urgent. I finally called David’s office to be told that yeah — this happens and is an issue, and I should feel free to find a local tow company. Really — you expect me to have the local tow companies on speed dial?
4. Lack of customer service. While David’s staff has great intentions, they are unable to get things done, outside of taking your business. On the accident in point 3, not only did they expect me to have a towing company, I was also asked — where do you want the car towed to? I asked them if they have preferred repair shops as its minor and his office told me NOPE. You have choice, they said. After 30 mins of calling repair shops within 5 miles (tow is apparently limited, which they don’t tell you), I get the car to the Audi of SF dealer. Next day, claims calls me and tells me that they can’t guarantee that they will pay for the entire repair as I didn’t go to a preferred shop which is pre authorized and wouldn’t have required appraisal. ??? I specifically asked for this and was told by David’s office that this wasn’t something State Farm did.
I would not recommend David Wong’s office or State Farm to my enemies. By the way, GEICO was 450 dollars cheaper when I switched both cars back to them.

David and his team are the best around, I know that when I call or walk in my question will be answered throughly and with a warm friendly smile. Alexandria is an excellent customer service specialist and Matt is knowledgeable and makes my day everytime I speak with him. Brad is caring and truly concerned about my best interests. Beth is very passionate about making sure everyone’s needs are met and Gustavo is eager to help out. David is one of the best and most personable agent’s I’ve met and I know my policies are in good hands.
