The highway is okay but needs a lot of work! And the highway has 30+ years of wear and tear.

The H2 isn’t necessarily the prettiest freeway on the island but it’s still pretty nice despite all the dead grass in the summer and the sloppy pothole patchwork. Regardless of looks, the freeway still serves its purpose. This is probably the most convenient way to go up to the North Shore, since the only other way would be to drive all the way to the windward side and go up Kam Hwy. As a freeway in Hawaii, the H2 definitely has the least traffic(unless your stuck east bound near the Waianae exit during morning rush hour). It has an adequate amount of lanes to accommodate the volume of cars that use it. So it doesn’t really feel claustrophobic unless there’s an accident. At night it gets a bit creepy since there weren’t any lights for a while(due to all the copper thefts). Not too sure if they have fixed this. and if they did, they should probably double check that it’s still there. One of my favorite times of the day is when I’m driving to work in the morning over Kipapa Gulch and the clouds are still lingering near the bridge. Such a neat feeling :)
