Freilich Dermatology: Abraham Freilich, MD

I might even give Dr. Freilich one and a half stars, if I had that option, because he was coherent, he seemed sober and no on his staff attempted to steal my wallet. However, after keeping me waiting two and a half hours for a five minute pseudo-​examination, the good doctor and his exuberant hired help did try to sell me a twenty dollar bottle of miracle snake oil.
If I hadn’t insisted on taking my shirt off, this doctor wouldn’t have examined any of my skin, at all. Instead, he took about six seconds to quickly glance up and down my body, as if he was checking out a man on the subway. Of course, if it had been the subway, he might have gotten into trouble if he actually touched the object of his observation. I guess he had that subway sensibility because he didn’t touch any part of me, or examine me in any way.
After I described my skin problem to this master of science, he strongly suggested that I take home a bottle of miracle lotion that he created himself. He didn’t actually use the word miracle but I’m assuming the lotion could perform super natural feats. It seemed like he prescribed it to all of his patients, regardless of their ailments and regardless of whether or not he had actually examined them. His receptionist handed me the lotion, I assumed it was included with the services, but I was then ordered to pay twenty dollars cash for the «remedy.» It was reminiscent of an experience I’d had almost three hours earlier, when I first entered the office and the same receptionist demanded my twenty dollar co-​pay immediately, and again, accepted only cash. I guess she anticipated that a considerable amount of people might stop their checks or credit card payments after their visits, or they might get up and leave anytime during the two and a half hour wait.
Of course, these cash demands, and my responses to them, were pretty much the only words I’d exchanged with the office staff, during my 157 minutes in their place of business (150 minutes for the wait, five minutes for the «examination» and two minutes for the snake oil pitch). In between, when I tried to ask a couple of questions, the staff glared at me as if I had just just lost my lunch in their laps. The entire time I was there, I was made to feel like they were doing me the greatest of services by allowing me to loiter in their waiting room. I half expected to be given a bill for renting their space, on my way out (payable only in cash, of course).
If you had the time and patience to read this entire review, then you doubtlessly have a few more minutes to look for a different doctor (or a snake oil store that doesn’t keep you waiting two and a half hours).

Had a 3PM appointment today and arrived to a locked door, and two other gentlemen standing outside. One had been waiting for over an hour on the street and the other had come to argue about a prescription they never sent to his pharmacy. When I tried to call, the phone was off the hook.
This «doctor» can’t be too trustworthy, so I would avoid at all costs. I went back to my office. Won’t be making another attempt.

I have been to this place 3 or 4 times, and I have to say the doctors and staff are very nice but I don’t think they know what they’re doing!
First 3 times I’ve been there were for a simple wart on my finger. First time dr Frielich burned it, and it didn’t go away. Second time he froze it and it didn’t go away. Third time he CUT it and it still didn’t go away!
I have to also point out that each time I came I waited no less than 2 hours even WITH an appointment.
(BTW I ended up buying a wart gel from Walgreens that completely removed the wart the first few days I used it)
Fourth time I came I was hesitant due to the history of my visits, but I came anyways because this time it was for my 2 year old son and apparently he’s the only Dr in Brooklyn that takes his insurance.
There was this new lady Dr that came to Check our a pimple on my son’s face that wasn’t going away. She took a look at it, didn’t know what is it. She called Dr Frielich to take a look at himself, he didn’t know either! She ended up giving me a phone number to a dermatologist who she said has more experience. Honestly i dont know why they’re even there, arent you supposed to know how to handle simple cases like that? This whole place is clueless!
I’m not going back there again, would definitely not recommend it. (the 2^nd Star is for them being nice and polite, otherwise they’d be getting one)

This Dr. is great. I had an ongoing issue with my psoriasis. After seeing Dr. Freilich I had hope. He has a laser machine in his office… wonderful results. This Dr. knows what he is doing

I brought both of my children, as well as my husband, to see Dr. Freilich for different issues. The doctor, as well as his staff, were professional, knowledgeable, kind and courteous. The doctor listened to our concerns and explained our options. He is so kind and down to earth. Our wait was under an hour, not long at all. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Freilich for any dermatologic needs.

I’ve made this mistake one too many times…
First time: After hearing a few good friends sing this doctor’s praises, I made the HUGE mistake of making an appointment at his Quentin Road location. A three hour wait is a blessing here. When I walked in, he didn’t even make eye contact with me as he feigned interest as to what was on my chart. First time. Nothing was on it yet. I then told him I’d had acne/​blackhead/​whitehead issues for a very long time and needed to do something about it. Without a beat and without looking at my face, he prescribed a medication that I’d mentioned having taken before that did not work for me. His response when I reiterated that was «take it and we’ll see what happens».
Second time (after not returning and trying again years later): Went to his other location in a nicer part of Brooklyn. The ONLY upside is that there’s a much shorter wait to be seen. The downside is that it’s the same doctor/​staff. I had a bump on my lip that was painful and make it look like I had a cold sore. That’s what the doctor ended up saying it was — just a cold sore, even though I’d very clearly pointed out the bump. After a week of medication and only days away from my honeymoon, the problem did not go away. I came back to have the doctor finally listen to me about the bump and without warning, he tore my lip open with his bare hands and inserted a needle with some sort of medication — not a warning. Painful doesn’t cover it.
Third time (feeling incredibly stupid and fueled by well-​intentioned friends): Back to the nice office with the incredibly sub-​par doctor/​staff. I have a punch excision performed on my nose — a tiny hole in my face needed to be stitched up. He tried explaining that it would leave a scar and they can’t guarantee that the scar will be less obvious. I explained that I’d be able to cover a scar with makeup better than I could a hole. When it was finally time to remove the band-​aid, I noticed the hole had moved over from where the stitches were. When I went back he said that he told me he couldn’t guarantee that they got the right track and that this would solve the problem.
I can’t say enough about how terrible this doctor is. I would have been better off going to Youtube and playing doctor on myself.

Once you’ve had a single consultation with a medical practice, they will forever consider you a potential customer. Two and a half years ago I tried Freilich/​Tarsis and totally rejected them. I made it very clear there would be no repeat business. Yet their office still calls my house to «let our patients know about a new treatment we’re offering». Ugh!

The staff is downright rude, the doctor is cold and they tried to double bill me. My favorite part is that he removed the wrong mole off my back.
I sat in the office for 45 minutes then was called. They told me my co-​pay was due. I handed over my credit card and was told they only accepted cash. The caustic woman at the front desk (Doreen) argued with me and made me walk 8 blocks to an ATM. When I got back I saw the doctor (after waiting another 35 minutes). He was totally preoccupied and strange. When I asked him about the copay he launched into a tirade about billing. Honestly I think it was the only time he was paying attention. I had a couple of moles go strange after my recent pregnancy. He hacked one out of my front (no aesthetic care was taken). I also had one on my back. When I arrived home I discovered he had removed the wrong mole on my back. To top it off a couple of days ago I received a bill in the mail for $ 20… This is after he told me they could not bill for copays. I already paid the copay. I also reported him to my insurance. They said that doctors cannot double bill. Do NOT use this dermatologist! Bad all the way around!

I recently changed Medical Insurance, unfortunately, my dermatologist of many years, Dr. Peter Milburn, is not a part of my current insurance, therefore, without many choices on hand, i went to see a dermatology group under Dr. Abraham Freilich, In December, my daughter and i, typical acne girl problems, we were seen by Dr. Sara Tarsis, she was pleasant, professional and accommodating. we certainly waited long enough but the staff was friendly. I recently started getting very itchy and lesions in parts of my body, so i called back this office, and unfortunately would have to wait quite a while to be seen, thinking, there might be a cancellation, i called today, they told me to come in, The minute i walked in the atmosphere was as if one was at a local city or state motor vehicles Department, I am sure most of you know how we are greeted by the staff at the Motor Vehicles Department!
To my surprise i was seen pretty quickly by the main doctor Abraham Freilich, as the dermatologist that i previously saw was not there today.
I thanked him for taking the time to see me in such a short notice, his disposition was icily, to say the least, I was totally uncomfortable and requested the female physician Assistant to continue examining me. The Physician Assistant, who i initially thought to be much prettier who looked much older as well, Apparently, my eyes pulled a fast one over me, was very abrupt, just as if i was being seen by the local Medical Assistant Center, no feelings or empathy to the discomfort that i was feeling and the lesions that were being developed rapidly on my body.
I only wish that i researched and perhaps read Sharon C. review, i would have found an alternative Dermatologist center, and wouldn’t have had such a crappy, creepy and awful experience as i did today.
I would certainly not recommend anyone to go to see Dr. Abraham Freilich, truly a sin, for such a crappy doctor to carry our forefather’s name, Abraham the great!
