Elite Event – Smash N’ Splash at Smashburger

I went to the Unilocal event at Smashburger last night and was blown away! Everything we tried was so delicious. We had some of their sweet potato fries, which were awesome, as well as some regular fries and SmashFries, seasoned with rosemary and garlic! We got to sample most of their burger. The Classic is your all-​American cheeseburger with onions, lettuce, and tomato. Next was the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger, which has truffle mayo, sauteed portobello mushrooms and swiss cheese. The spicy black bean burger was great as well. The beehive burger has a sweet BBQ sauce, bacon, onion straws, and cheddar– so good! The last burger was actually a chicken sandwich. The Avocado Bacon Chicken Sandwich was great too. You can’t really go wrong with Smashburger…

My daughter has been receiving a steady stream of small, plastic sea creatures as «surprises» over the past couple of weeks. Who knew that clever table decorations would bring my child so much joy?
And me, really. We play… er…“collected” those things during dinner. We mused about our relative failings at edible sand art, too. Ok, that last one was really just me. Big block of green in my vase really is pretty aesthetically awful.
It’s the little things at the Unilocal Elite events that Jeffrey does well. He’s masterful at the broad strokes, obviously, as we had some really great Smashburger food. But it’s the details that Jeffrey does so well and that makes the party.
Just ask my 2-​year old daughter. She squealed when she saw her new seal.

The truffle mushroom Swiss burger was amazing!

What a fabulous event at a fabulous new burger place! My husband and I had a great time. We were prepared to try one burger each, but were overwhelmed with all the food! It was awesome! The Smashfries were amazing — loved the garlic and rosemary, but my favorite side was the onion straws/​rings! Loved them! We had to pace ourselves so we didn’t get full on the sides! The burgers were amazing! Each one was so unique! My favorite was the Truffle Mushrooom Swiss! Soooo rich! I wanted to eat the whole portion, but knew we still had a few more burgers to go! My husbands favorite was the Beehive (mine needed a bit more bbq sauce) and the Avocado Chicken Club! I loved the Chicken Club too! Actually I loved them all! :)
Just when we thought we couldn’t eat another thing, they brought out the shakes! Oh my! Loved the Nutter Butter and PB&J! Sooo good!
We whole even was great! From the cotton candy sugar bottles (so FUN) to the Flip Flop Game and all the great decorations, we were very entertained!
The highlight of the night (besides the great food) was the staff! They were very attentive and friendly! Always checking back to see if we needed anything or if they could clear our table! They really were rockstars!
And Jeff… what can I say! Always the host with the most!

Another super-​awesome event that makes me feel warm&fuzzy with daftpunkian luckiness to be part of the SLC Unilocal elitey squadrony family.
Thanks Jeffrey S., our party lifeguard/​transcendent Unilocal community manager, for organizing this beach-​themed party and thanks to Smashburger for being our gracious hosts for the evening and providing a heady mix of delicious burgers, smashing perfectly-​seasoned fries, decadent mini-​dessert drinks, and well-​concocted drink drinks! The vegetarian spicy black bean burger and the mint oreo mini-​shakes were especially fancy-​awesome! The beehive burger was buzzing with flavor! I was really happy that the Smashburger leadership’s presentation was distilled and elegant, and not a classroom lecture– I took their wonderful brevity as a sign of confidence that the food speaks for itself. It absolutely does!
The location for this event was great– easy to get to off the highway coming from SLC! Not only was the restaurant interior designed beautifully; the joint also has lots of free parking in a shared lot. The nearby road construction added a layer of complexity to finding the proper parking lot entrance.
The entire evening was a total blast from the moment of arrival! There was a friendly parking attendant outside, handing out burger coupons to non-​yelpers and guiding Unilocalers to the front door. Once inside, there was no line– I checked in and slapped on my red «hello-​my-​name-​is» elite name badge and was gtg. I have to confess to miss being checked in by Grason the irreplaceable Mantern. Ron (not his real name) did a bang up job bartending. Our servers were faster than Flash Gordon (playing football before he met Ming).
The sand sugar sculptures in a bottle artwork was a fun challenge akin to playing an analog atari marble madness/​crystal castles mash-​up on a single quarter. Or should I say smash-​up. (groan… place Unilocal gift bag over my head).
I took to heart the inherent contradictions of most cliched advice (e.g., ‘Look before you leap’ versus ‘he who hesitates is lost’) from fellow Unilocalers on creating my «sand» sculpture in a glass bottle with a cork: don’t be afraid to shake to create modern art delights, but beware the over-​shake as the colors will mix together: sadly transformed into a muddy marmalade reminiscent of of Hunter S. Thompson’s psychedelic remains. The good news is that, unlike the colored sand versions sold at numerous stands on the summertime boardwalk/​pier at Coney Island, the mistakes here were sweet-​tooth-​satisfyingly edible. This was since the raw ingredient was fetal cotton candy. If you grok the artistic compulsions to continue pursuing this colorful addictive hobby: the Flossugar (with «vividized» rainbow of color options), sold in ½ Gallon Cartons, by Gold Medal are readily (and cheaply) available on Amazon. Don’t forget the insulin needles.

Shout out to prolific Unilocaler Charles S– great to catch up after so much has passed since our pumpkin carving halcyon days. Nice to meet another member of your fam and talk literature– looking forward to checking out Cortázar’s Hopscotch, the Brothers Karamazov, shouting ‘Daisy sucks’ until removed from the theater, pulling a stegosaurus out of my pocket next time at the airport, and continuing the search for Animal Chin. Another shout out to Josh S., great to meet a fellow Unilocaler in person whose cyber-​yelping I enjoy so much! Also, shout out to Vi T., Joshua S, and all other Unilocalers that keep coming to these cool events that I didn’t get a chance to talk with much at all. I should spend less time stuffing my face and more time saying hello. seriously.
Fun friends (new & old), delicious food, nicely crafted drinks (e.g., SotB), fun activities, and even a beach ball, sand pail, salt water taffy, the notorious bright red Unilocal sunglasses and monomeric made-​in-​china lobster to take home! What more could anyone want for a weeknite beach party in Utah?!
Smashing good time!

We had yet another event at Smashburger, I think I lost track how many events we had with the chain, or maybe I got them confused with Gamestop. We did not get to smash burgers in the kitchen this time, but we got waaaay too much food to eat last night.
I think on average, everyone had about 3 – 4 burgers, and I recalled trying their Classic Smash, Truffle Mushroom Swiss, Beehive, Spicy Veggie Black Bean, and Avocado Club Chicken. Everything was juicy and delicious in its own way, all the sides they brought out and then the shakes at the end just pushes over the limit for anyone unless they staved themselves for the past few days.
All the mini-​games from the sand jars mixing to the saddle tossing just added to the favor of this party. We had our self-​proclaimed private reserved Asian table on the quirky side discussing our awesome ideas on taking over the world with!!!
A big thank you to Jeffrey and Smashburger for making this event happening. It was a successful event.

Awesome event, well organized with tons of delicious food. I couldn’t believe we were served every burger and shake on the menu. I’ve tried a few different burgers but this was my first time trying the chicken burger — so good, will definitely be coming back!

One of the best and well organized elite events I’ve been to! The staff was super attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. The insane amount of food was definitely well orchestrated and we left absolutely stuffed. My favorite burgers were definitely the truffle mushroom and chicken club (avocado and bacon, yummm).
Jeffrey S did a great job (as usual) doing his rounds and making everyone feel welcome. The beachy decorations were beyond cute… and i even took some sea creatures home with me :) the edible sand art was my favorite. i think it brought the kid out in all of us. we even left with some Smashburger goodies and coupons!

First! Wait… is that not cool anymore?
Anyway… This was a fabulous event! I’m not sure anyone has ever been more attentive, helpful, useful and cool than the staff of this Smashburger. Not only did they deliver a continual flow of food, drink and attentiveness, but they were seemingly everywhere! Asking if we were okay, or if we needed any extra sides, or any drinks or anything else. The managers, the marketing people, the wait staff and cooks were all completely on point. They were super impressive.
Jeffrey pulled off another amazing event. The games were fun, the drinks were cold and delicious, the food was fantastic and the setting was flawless.
I would really like to to find something to piss and moan about, but unfortunately this event was, once again, flawless!

Fantastic! I arrived assuming that we would get to sample one of the burgers, but Smashburger ended up being epic and everyone ended up sampling a half of nearly every burger they make! Not to mention fries and the shakes (all of which were very good)! By the time it was over, I was almost in a food coma. It was awesome getting to meet fellow Unilocalers and hang out at a place that makes some pretty tasty food!

Unilocal Highlights: Jeffrey S making it back from his yearly Walkabout to host a REALLY cool event. Stressed with overtime work and looming deadlines, this event literally took the edge off of what could have been a massive meltdown. Thank you Unilocal and thank you Jeffrey S!
Lowlight: Me looking like a buzz kill in my work clothes whilst everyone else sported their beach attire.
Conversation Highlights: 1. Asian idiosyncrasies. Asian’s come to vacation in the states and the first thing they look for is their own cuisine, namely RICE. 2. The way for any mayor to boost his/​her economy is to attract as many people from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and/​or mainland China so they’ll take residence and open up shop in their city. 3. Honda is to drivers as Toyota is to riders. 4. Don’t get stuck behind a Camry. 5. Tony L is both helping the environment and riding in style in his Lexus CT 200h — I don’t think you’ll have to worry about getting stuck behind him.
Social Highlight: I met my Unilocal twin Joshua S. :)
