Drive In AutoSound

I got a Groupon deal for this place, $ 199 for a remote car starter with installation ($ 368 regular price). I dropped my car off at 10 AM and they told me it would be done in 3 – 4 hours. A couple hours later they called me and said I had given them the «wrong» key and that I would have to pay an extra $ 112 for a new one since I didn’t have the «right» key. I finally picked my car up at 5 PM that night (SEVEN hours after I had dropped it off). My ignition now looks like someone broke into my car and tried to steal it. The light that helps you find the key slot on the ignition is gone. I was told that it’s now hidden somewhere in my car along with this extra mystery key I had to buy. I’m not sure if this was all legit or if I got ripped off because I’m a woman, but the whole experience left me feeling uneasy and wishing I hadn’t gone there. Seven hours to install a remote starter makes me think that maybe this isn’t their forte. Oh, and I saw a sign in the store saying I could get a remote starter installed for $ 129. When I asked about that, I was assured that the model I was getting was much nicer. Huh. Overall, the remote starter works fine so far, so that’s why I gave them at least 2 stars. Never going back, though!

I chose Drive-​In Audiosound for my Ford Bronco stereo installation after visiting upwards of six or more car audio installation stores here in the Salt Lake Valley last summer. I ended up stopping off at James’ store last June, and was suitably impressed with his approach… and for the fact that he was the ONLY shop I visited that gave me a printed quote for installation services.
So when I received my new Sony MEX-​GS810BH AM/​FM/​HD/​CD/​BT receiver for my birthday last month, I visited James a few weeks back and made an appointment for Feb 14^th.
I arrived early and James was all ready for me. He took the Bronco back in the installation bay, and began work. Although he said it would take 3 – 5 hours, it actually took about 7 hours… but that is OK with me. I’d rather he take his time, do it right, and deliver a solid installation.
I asked James to: 1.) Install my new Sony head unit (using the Crutchfield-​supplied mounting/​faceplate kit, and wiring harness), 2.) Install my Kicker DS6.5 2-​way over-​sized 6.75″ front speakers in the doors (replacing my 18 year old factory units), 3.) Double check the installation of my ‘previously installed’ Kicker DS693 6×9 3-​way speakers in the rear factory locations (replacing the Ford factory 6×8 ovals), and 4.) install a new 4-​way Rockford Fosgate # PBR300X4 amplifier (75wx4), which I purchased from James.
I picked the Bronco up late in the day and it was done perfectly… and sounded great. In fact, James even upgraded my amp as the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4 would not fit behind the dash. He replaced it with a more expensive Massive Audio BX4 amplifier rated 120wx4. Again, top notch service and a quality product.

Last weekend I pretty much had all of the stuff I needed to get two 12’s bumpin in my truck. I’m no car audio guru so i wanted it done professionally. Originally I was going to go the Best Buy route for my install but all there prices for equipment are way higher than the same stuff on Amazon so do your research plus there tech couldn’t even select the right double din kit for my deck. No thanks. So then I went the route of local installers. I figured to go with the most recognizable or popular ones via advertising and google searching. This brought me to Sound Warehouse. I wanted my install done today like any impatient music lover wit new toys and they said «Sure, Come on in…» I was excited so I drove 30 min down there and when I got inside they told me there was no more available opening. Ughhh… Bite Me. It was already 1:00 pm and I knew time was short so I called around and I was lucky enough to get a slot at Drive-​In Autosound. I met my installer James and he was totally helpful. I showed him my stuff and he went right to work. Now I know I got lucky with the time slot but it was NOT luck when it came to how fast James hooked all my equipment up…1 hr 50 min… And that was for a head unit/​kit, bluetooth phone setup, amp, subs and a super clean wiring job. All in all it was $ 200 bucks but that is on par with what I had done anywhere else. They had a waiting room with cable TV but it needed a couch in there instead of picnic chairs. They only thing is I wish James would have shown me any possible adjustments i could make to the sound but I didn’t ask so that was my bad. Awesome job guys and Ill definitely be back. Thanks, Aaron
