We specialize in English horseback riding lessons for ages 6 and up. Our instructors are knowledgeable, patient and love what they do!

Parents are encouraged and invited to join their children for lessons. Fun for the whole family!

History

Established in 1996.

The Riding School at James River Equestrian Center started as the premier horseback riding facility in the metro-​Richmond area in 1996. Since then, we have taught thousands of children and adults to ride horses.

Meet the Business Owner

Vicki P.

Business Owner

Vicki’s passion for teaching began as a Riding Instructor in 1989. In the early 1990’s, she part time managed and taught at Swift Creek School of Equitation and James River Riding School. Vicki has owned James River Equestrian Center since 1996. Over the years, Vicki has enjoyed various equestrian roles. Her biggest joy comes from helping the young equestrians grow in their love of the horse as well as their riding abilities. She loves to watch how important this love of the horse is in the development of the children, as well as how important it continues to be to the adult riders. Vicki is very proud of the unique family environment that has developed at the James River Equestrian Center.

She teaches lessons two days a week at the boarder barn. Vicki spends the remainder of her work hours managing the boarder barn and the riding school. She also still enjoys taking her students to the local horse shows.
