The place was not busy, but said we had a to wait 15 to 20 minutes if we wanted to sit inside but we could sit anywhere outside. So we sat outside the waitress sucked, she did not pay us much attention but was sure waiting on the loud group of people. The food was good, not great portions were pathetic though

Was there with a group of Chivers last night for drinks and tacos. Sat outside on the patio since it was such a nice evening. It quickly went downhill in a hurry. I arrived at 6:30pm and promptly ordered a Dos XX draft and it took nearly 20 minutes to get it. I knew I couldn’t stay as long as some of the others so I went ahead and ordered. This was at 7:00pm(we’ll come back to that in a minute). I asked the server about the Taco Fix Tuesday special(because it says in the menu to ask your server for details) and that’s when his bad attitude started showing. He quickly glossed over that the tacos were $ 2, $ 3, and $ 4 each depending on which ones you wanted. I asked what is the difference in the $ 2, $ 3, and $ 4 tacos and he got an attitude with me like I was stupid for asking. He did the same thing when one of the other members of our table asked about it when she ordered thirty minutes later. He would also walk away from our table to answer a question for a guest at another table right in the middle of giving him our order. His bad attitude continued to show as we were trying to order drinks at our table. Now, the rest of the group placed their orders at 7:30pm, all of our food was delivered(including mine) at 8:15pm. Naturally my brisket tacos were cold because they were sitting for what I have to imagine was at least 20 minutes(if it took them 55 minutes to prepare, this is Midland we’re talking about so I don’t have high expectations due to experience) before they were delivered to me. I was sick of the guy’s bad attitude and decided to just eat the tacos and be done with it. Halfway through and after realizing that half the orders at our table were wrong(and after one person at our table taking her plate all the way back to the kitchen herself because our server didn’t give a crap) I decided to talk to the manager. The manager said it would be «taken care of tomorrow» because he was understaffed and couldn’t afford to send anyone home. He did get someone from inside to help him and even brought out food and drinks to other tables. The thing is, he had a table full of Chivers who would have tipped like crazy if he had just done his job without the bad attitude. He could have made over $ 100 just in tips from us if he didn’t have a bad attitude and worked to fix the issues instead of ignored them. FULLDISCLOSURE: Every member of our table did receive a comp for the terrible service on our checks. It’s still not enough for me to give them another chance to earn my business.

Service is significantly better than during the oil boom. As is the food. Didn’t get a 5 star review because there is always room for improvement. But I have no complaints w any part of my visit today. Leonardo did a great job keeping our drinks refilled & informing us of what was good to eat. HE gets 5 stars.

Slow service. BAD food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. My husband ordered a fajita plate. The waitress came back 15 minutes later to ask do you need tortillas with that. I ordered a taco salad which had no beans in the bottom with only lettuce with cabbage in it and meat on it. No tomato no sour cream. I did ask for it with no guacamole. It was one of the worst taco salads I have ever had in my life. The waitress was slow also the waitress put my order in wrong so I had to eat completely by myself without my family.

Dined here about a couple of weeks ago and my review is going to be short and sweet, AWESOMESERVICE, GREATFAJITAS, AWESOMEDRINKOPTIONS but avoid the rice and beans which were very dry on a Thursday Afternoon otherwise I do give this place a recommendation for your Tex-Mex craving.

I’m working in Midland for a few weeks, and my coworkers and I decided to pick up some food from On the Border(thinking a chain restaurant was a safe bet). We were wrong. We ordered the food online for pick-up at 7, which was confirmed by the restaurant. We had to wait at the restaurant until 7:20 for it to be ready. Additionally, they messed up every part of our order. My chicken was supposed to come with avocado. The mango chicken salad had about 2 pieces of mango and 1⁄8 of a chicken breast — and did not have any dressing. We also ordered queso, and instead they gave us two sets of chips/salsa. The host and hostess were nice to us while we waited, but we received no apology for our food being late/wrong. Instead of going here, I would recommend Clear Springs off of Andrew’s Highway. Much better food and pick-up experience. It has always been ready on time and with everything as we ordered. Also, if you’re craving Mexican food then I would recommend either Cacun(Baja Mexican/Seafood, on Wall Street) or Dona Anita’s(Tex Mex, on Florida Ave). These have a fun, local atmosphere and are delicious.

This was the worst dining experience I’ve had in years. We had to flag down the waiter to get him to acknowledge our presence. No drink order was taken and no water brought to the table for 20 minutes after chips and salsa were delivered. Food came out slow, drinks came out slow, and two people at our table needed to send back food. I could go on but that seems superfluous. It was just a bad experience all around. I wish I could give them less than one star.

Why would you post one set of hours of operation online and another at your front door, and then be closed a half an hour earlier than posted at the door?

RUNAWAYNOW!!! Wow, this place is the trifecta of horribleness. Really bad food, atmosphere & service… oh & drink. We first thought we’d like to sit on the patio but upon walking out there we realized that it smelled like a cross between a urinal & stale ashtray. After getting our table, I asked the waitress if they had Don Julio and she looked at me like I spoke French. So I asked what good Tequilas she had for margaritas and she incredulously responded«Tequila?¿?» …kinda like we were in a Japanese sushi bar. She never came back to give me tequila list(saw her come & go several times) so I walked up to the bar to take a look myself. I went ahead and ordered a top shelf margarita from the chubby/prego? bartender(I normally would never do this but since we were abandoned…). So, I specifically asked for Grand Marnier as the liqueur and as I watched her make it she used that plastic bottle triple sec that has no alcohol & is complete crap. When I pointed out that she wasn’t using the ingredients I requested she gave me attitude, then proceeded to go on about me to another server as I walked away. So back to the table with my crappy margarita(they still used crap for sweet & sour… I could really teach them a thing or two about the ritas). The food that we ordered competes with some of the worst I’ve had. My pork carnitas taco plate was cold & the meat had that weird plastic look like shredded meat gets when left out. The funny thing is that I watched her cleaning tables whilst knowing my food was sitting out waiting to be ran. My daughter wouldn’t eat her food it tasted so bad & that’s probably a good thing cause my son & I have both been nauseous all day. I honestly wouldn’t give them a single star if possible, I wonder how they are still open after reading the reviews which I truly should’ve done before walking into this cesspool named«On The Border»(what a misnomer that is, I’ve gotten more authentic Mexican food at Chili’s)

We ordered two different meals that were delivered very quick. The enchiladas were greasy and cold. They tasted like they were cooked several hours before and were not even reheated. I’ve had better TV dinners. Even the chips for the salsa were greasy and cold. I won’t ever go back there again.

Didn’t even get service. We waited a few minutes before we were finally acknowledged. The person appeared to be management. Despite dozens of empty tables, we were made to wait several more minutes while he «cleaned some tables». For a Sunday at 6:30 pm, why could we not be seated immediately? Once we saw the staff member chatting it up with a buddy/customer, we left disgusted and ended up down the street at a much busier place where we got a table immediately.

Sometimes understaffing works in the customers’ favor. Not enough servers and not a lot of patrons on Sept 23rd meant an ideal situation. Got seated right away, chips, salsa and waters right away, and the food orders came out promptly. Food was delicious; salsa a tad too spicy. Ordered veggie fajitas and the green chile burrito. Ask for Jay for the server. He was attentive, caring and made us and our family of four feel like his only table. My wife’s birthday called out the party and delicious brownie. Good experience, especially having Jay for our server. God bless

This place SUCKS. The wait staff are lazy and take their sweet time. They brought me cold food and I had to wait 45 minutes for it at a dirty table with no drink. I sit at the bar exclusively now. Sitting in the restaurant is a horrible experience. The food was decent. Sit at the bar though

Never to come back again! When we got there we waited 30minutes for our drinks which was my sons apple juice and my water, not to mention we never got chips and salsa. The waiter had no idea what he was doing, we ordered my son a kids quesadilla meal and he put down a corn dog. I had ordered the quesadilla lunch special and when I got it there was only 2 tiny pieces, my 1 year old sons meal had a bigger quesadilla than mine. Then i asked if the bartender can make a lemon drop martini and they said yes so I wait for it and when I received it it was horrible they used salt instead of sugar I almost threw up. When I told the waiter they informed me the manager had made it NOTTHEBARTENDER! Why would anyone other than the bartender make my drink!

Came here with a friend expecting to have an evening of drinks out on the patio. So we get out onto the patio and it looked like a tornado hit the place. It was absolutely disgusting! There were chips, napkins, receipts and God knows what else, scattered everywhere on the floor! It was unreal. It was SUPER messy!!! There were about 6 or 7 tables that were available, however only one didn’t have dirty plates on it. The table was very dirty too. I figured we’d get the waiter to wipe it off as soon as he got there. 10 minutes rolled by and never got an acknowledgement whatsoever!!! AND the waiter walked right by our table 3 times! I quickly realized that the one waiter was taking care of the entire patio by himself due to a lack of staff! We realized what kind of night we were in for so we ended up just leaving and going to Outback. I might give On The Border another try if I knew they were properly staffed to get the job done right. I do like the food there but until they figure out a way to get staffed in the oil economy of Midland, I will definitely pass.

This used to be the best place to sit out on the patio and enjoy the desert climate. Now it is a place with terrible service and slow everything. The people who are here are good people there’s just not enough of them. Half the tables in the dining room have a sign on them that says they are closed and gives a really good excuse. I’m sick of hearing«the oilfield is taking all our wait staff» that’s just not true. If it is you have to pay more to your staff and adjust your menu prices but every other chain restaurant here is doing fine. How are hotels staying staffed? They’re charging more and paying more. Wake up OTB.

Here we are trying this again. Same as before, we are short on waitstaff . This poor guy gas all these tables & is doing the best he can. I thnk u should try other places. Unless u sent to wait on thee I service we think they changed ownership because it’s really gone down in service & food.
