Well, Sammy’s is a love-hate story. I used to really love Sammy’s. Their pizza was great! But most of all, I loved their eggplant griders which were breaded eggplant, peppers, onions and a sauce similar to their cousin-restaurant, Fiore II(which I adore!). However, recently I haven’t been going there as much. From what I have heard from other people, the quality of pizza had been declining. After I heard that, I had ordered my usual grinder which came to me burnt and full of mushrooms(a food I detest). Dissatisfied(and hopeful that this was just a bad night) I ordered my usual grinder from there one last time. It just wasn’t good. The eggplant was now undercooked and the grinder was just sub-par. It’s such a disappointment to have a sandwich that you have loved for so long be changed to bad quality. The good news is that their pizza hasn’t changed much. I have heard from friends that they don’t care for the style as much as I do, but I still enjoy it. It’s not my #1 pizza choice anymore, but I will still go there to enjoy a slice if I’m in the area.

I consider myself a pizza & french fry connessouir. I LOVE pizza. I just moved here from Chicago(land of pizza… well…deep dish) and I have had some BAD pizza out here. Sammy’s is 2 blocks from my house, so I stumbled in there the first day we moved in. Here are some tips to enjoy the BEST possible Sammy’s pizza. 1) Order it fresh, don’t buy the slices there if you don’t like reheated pizza(who does?) 2) Eat it AT the restaurant, if you wait even 10 minutes the grease soaks in and it’s just not good. 3) If you must carry out, again, I hope you live close. I have had nothing else here; just plain cheese pizza. And it’s my favorite in town(next being Illiano’s & Mondo). It’s well priced($ 6 for a small?! YESPLEASE!) and you can get their party pizza’s for a get together. We have served 5 people who stuffed themselves full with a party size, and it’s been great for $ 19 bucks). Please HEARME! Do not underestimate Sammy’s!
