Very unprofessional management staff running this place if you are considering it for a wedding type event.
I gave it a single versus zero stars for two reasons: 1. It is beautiful, and 2. The food is pretty good at the deli. So for that reason I have to give it some credit.
Outside of that, every employee I met was rude. That includes the the deli staff and the event staff responsible for the event I attended. I actually had a neighbor visit the facility and meet with the staff and she was so turned off by there lack of professionalism that she decided to book somewhere else… though she really wanted the Vineyard. That says something… and she didn’t know of my experience.
And honestly, if you are a wine drinker, their product will not impress you.
Looks are not everything. Save yourself the disappointment and book somewhere that respects their clients… especially for a special day like a wedding.

Renovations have been completed since last time we were here and this place is amazing. They still have great wine, good service and a great staff with lots of games outside to enjoy.

Great winery but you can’t buy a bottle and open it and drink on their property. Told by a lovely female employee they «can’t keep track of how many bottles people drink». She never mentioned it being a RI state law. So not sure if it’s their own rules. Don’t have this issue in Connecticut.

One of the bigger wineries I’ve been to. Nice location whicjh also has a restaurant and a deli. The tasting does include a tour, which i probably why it priced a little higher than usual. we weren’t interested in the tour so we skipped it and just did the tasting. You are limited to how many wines you can select. I would say I was about ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ on their wines. Their Hard cider was the standout for me. The place was very crowded while we were there so there isn’t as much interaction with the staff that was serving us. Seemed knowledgeable about the wines and was friendly enough. A few tweaks in the operation here would improve things drastically.

I’ll preface this by sharing that I have always been a big fan of Newport Vineyards, having been there at least ten times over the past 7 or so years. Great White (one of their white wines) is above and beyond my favorite wine of all time! This all being said, I was really excited to check out some of the changes and renovations this weekend as I have moved away. Unfortunately, I was truly disappointed to see how rude the staff was and how overcrowded things have become.
The vineyard itself is beautiful and located just over the town line in Middletown. The tasting room has rapidly expanded to 5 tasting bars now but when there is a wedding going on that day (which there was when we visited), they open one or two, which yields long lines for everyone. I was a little frustrated by this as I had called ahead (month in advance) as I was coming with a group of ten. They said they had no reservations available (made no mention of a wedding resulting in limited tasting bars) but we could come and easily do the tasting in smaller groups or purchase wine to enjoy outside – no problem. However, as we were walking in, an employee ran to the door to tell us we could NOT do a tasting because our group was too large. We shared what we were told on the phone and the employee seemed flabbergasted. We continued to the bar to purchase glasses of wine to enjoy outside (after finally being given the ok to do so). We had to essentially fight to order our glasses and the staff seemed overwhelmed and stressed by the massive lines and crowds, and were not very friendly or accommodating. Not exactly the relaxing winery experience we had hoped for!
Once we got the wine (which is delicious!) the experience improved as we headed outside where it was much less crowded and there are tables, lawn games, and beautiful vines to enjoy! They have also added a quick service restaurant as well as a fancier one. There is also a large gift shop where you can purchase bottles (not able to open on site) and paraphernalia.
I’m hoping we caught the «new» Newport vineyards on an off day as I want to continue to love this wine and this place!

Second time coming here for the Yoga and Wine night and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The manager, Craig, was very helpful as I had a group going and he helped me plan to have food available after the yoga as well as making check in a breeze. This event is well worth it, for $ 22 you get 75min of yoga from Thames St Yoga and a wine tasting of 5 different wines. The yoga either takes place outside in the field or inside in the large tasting room. Make sure to call ahead and order a cheese tray for the wine tasting, well worth it! The bartender, Candice, was so personable telling us about all of the different wines and consistently making sure our glasses were full. We had such a wonderful time and their pours are quite generous.
This event is fun for everyone at all different levels whether they have done yoga before or not and what could be a better reward for exercising but wine! The wine was great, I loved the Merlot, the venue is gorgeous and although the tasting ended at 8pm they didn’t rush us out and kept allowing us to have samples. I can’t say enough about how you made my planning for 15 people easy and how enjoyable this experience was. Everyone will definitely be back for a tasting and a tour and any other events you may have!

Newport Vineyards felt seriously overrun on a Saturday afternoon in October. Like other mega vineyards, you have to buy your tickets in a totally different area of the tasting area, with very minimal signage to indicate that (except probably the annoyed people who work here, who have probably had to direct everyone to the front to buy before trying).
The store was a complete mad house, with lines of people waiting to get their tickets to bring back to the tasting area plus other people trying to buy wine and merchandise.
Once we finally got our tickets, though, we found an area to do the tasting outside. However, this was also a bit of a mad house, with just one guy attending to about 20 different people. Finally another person came up to help the sole person, but even with two people, they were both rushed filling customers’ glasses and didn’t even attempt to tell us anything about their vineyard or the select wines except announcing what was poured.
I do appreciate that they had a huge list to choose from — though you can only try 5 for $ 12 — and it’s great that the vineyard does not feel too close to the road. I could imagine making an afternoon of the visit if there was already a wine I knew I liked and would buy.
Nonetheless, I was really put off by the lack of crowd control and lack of attention on the customer.

My wife and I came here for a tour and tasting. The tours are at 1 and 3 pm, free of charge, and run about 20 mins.
The tastings are a few bucks each, and I’ve gotta say — my wife and I were honestly surprised at what a nice location and vineyard Newport has. 24 acres of land, and it’s very relaxing and beautiful to take in.
The tastings crew were great; met some local NJ people while there who gave us more than a healthy share in our tasting glasses! They have some really nice wines there. Some of our favorites produced at the vineyard:
–Landot Noir (only produced at six vineyards’ in the U.S.; bought a bottle)
-«In the Buff» Chardonnay — delicious, non-​oaky Chardonnay; rich
You really can’t beat a visit here if you’re in the area, especially since it won’t take up a lot of your time! Swing by for sure.

Had a great time with Geordy on Sunday, chatting and drinking. He was very informative and very friendly. He took the time to talk to us despite it being a busy day with the 5k in the morning.
We joined the wine club, good selection of wines, 10% discount, free tastings, you can’t go wrong. It’s a bit pricey for a tasting, but that’s what you get in the Newport area.
The place has just been redone, it’s spacious but still has a little of that rustic, winery charm.

I love this place! What a lovely ambiance! Such a beautiful view on an early September afternoon. Too bad they close at 6pm so we missed the sunset!
Once you purchase your wine tasting, you have the option of keeping the signature glass and you are also handed an organized sheet of wines for note taking, check listing and to place your order. They have a very organized system in place, where the wine store is very close to the bar where you do the wine tasting. My favorites: Vidal Blanc (White), Gemini (Red), Bellevue Blush (Rosé).
Stephanie was our server at the bar and she was fantastic. She handled several groups at the same time and explained every single wine on the menu to us thoroughly. Major Kudos to her!
Only downside is that us New Yorkers can’t get these wines shipped to us. CT only!

Came back to visit again after having been here a year or so ago, and the place was hardly recognizable. I mean that in the best way possible. Their new addition and renovations have made this place awesome. Big, airy tasting rooms, a café counter, a nice little store, and a restaurant all attached.
We did the tasting and the pours were VERY generous. Like, so generous we had to hang out for a bit before we could drive.
Lucky for us, there were tons of places to hang out. We wandered through the awesome little farmers market outside, played some cornhole, and relaxed a bit before buying a few bottles to take home with us.
My favorite wine (aside from the Ice Wine which was DELICIOUS) was the Gemini. It’s a great red blend, and especially with Sakonnet being out of Rhode Island Red, I know we’ll be heading back to Newport for some more Gemini sooner rather than later.

If you ask me about the wine I’m going to give you a slightly open mouthed, «huh?» Obviously, not a big wine person. I will say that the wine tasting is okay, 12 bucks for 5 samples, which is good (?) Couldn’t tell ya. What I can tell you is that the day we were there everything else in their complex was closed except for the gift shop and winery tour. We jumped onto one a little after they started but didn’t really miss anything.
If you’ve been to another winery/​distillery/​brewery the processes are all pretty similar. Sugar+yeast=tasty alcohol.
The grounds though are really nice and it’s a great spot to kick back and relax. They have cornhole and giant Jenga out there and even though I think all wines taste like, well, wine I didn’t think they were terrible and the cider they have available is dry, crisp and sweet. I actually bought two bottles of that.

Literally the rudest staff ever. We came here for my bachelorette and they said they could not give us tastings because they were full. We said we would go in groups of two just so everyone could try the wine at least, they said no. They were not polite at all and I will not be coming back here.

«Meh. I’ve experience better.» hits it right on the nose.
Newport Vineyards felt very large, impersonal, and corporate. It’s a large building that houses some food options, their own little wine shop area, a large tasting bar, outdoor seating, and, naturally, the vineyards. Not a single person we talked to seemed very friendly. Nobody was rude, but c’mon guys! You work at a winery, not a government office. We were there just before noon on a Friday and it was very busy. Definitely needed a second employee to help with the tastings as the woman behind the bar seemed a little overwhelmed and was not keeping up.
There’s a parking lot out front, which was nice. $ 12/​person for a tasting (I believe it’s $ 15 with a souvenir glass), which in my opinion is high for an area that isn’t known for their wine. The pours were generous and there was a larger selection of wine than I anticipated. You get a sheet and choose 5 different tastings. The wines themselves, though, were pretty mediocre. I know this isn’t Napa, but maybe I wouldn’t have had such an adverse reaction to the mediocrity had the bottle prices not been what they were. You can get better 90+ point wines at the supermarket at lower prices!
If you do go for a visit, grab your last tasting pour or a glass of wine and head outside to stroll among the grapes or have a seat on one of the benches and relax for a few minutes. That was probably the best part.

Loved the white port, by far my favorite. Super sweet though. The great white was another favorite of mine.

On the way back to Franklin, MA from a family day trip to Second Beach, we stumbled upon Newport Vineyards. It looked so cute and quaint from the outside so we decided to stop in. We didn’t intend to buy anything, but after trying one of their red wines, I was quite impressed and bought two bottles for dinner that night.
Staff was friendly, the scenery was beautiful, and the prices were very reasonable! Can’t wait to try more wines and take the tour next time!

Great tasting room! Newport Winery has recently expanded its tasting room considerably. There is a bakery within the space for snacks; tasting wine can really give you the munchies! They also have a full-​service restaurant, called Brix, on site. There is an outdoor tasting patio that overlooks the vines. Overall, the whole property is very well done and has everything you need to have a picnic lunch to gourmet dinner.
The wine itself is pretty good. The reds are typical of the northeast United States red wines, and by typical, I mean no where near what you are used to with California reds. The white wines are pretty good though. Many seem to be a little overly sweet for my taste, but they’re definitely good. They have a dry Pinot Gris that I really like.
This is definitely a great spot for a couples afternoon or a romantic dinner.

We are almost done with our South Coast Wine Tour. This stop was one of the largest most commercial in feel wineries. Staff were helpful all around. The vineyards are well marked and lovely. We paid 12.00 pp for 5 tastings. I enjoyed the rose. My man enjoyed the Gemini red. Nothing wowed us but it was a nice experience. For 3 dollars more, you may have a wine glass. We found them too heavy but a nice souvenir if you are inclined.

This winery is from the early 1900’s but is now very modern– almost feels like a new winery. $ 12 for a tour and wine tasting or $ 15 for the tour, tasting with a wine glass souvenir. The tour is 25 minutes long and touches upon their vineyard, how they harvest the grapes, then showing the machine that crushes the grapes to the barrels and packing the wine in the bottles along with labeling. Again, the operations are very modern so it’s not much of an interesting learning tour but nice to do to learn about their winery.
Wine was great! Everything we tasted was wonderful and we ended up buying 12 bottles! When you buy 12, you get 10% off your order.

I have been looking for something to do on the weekend and I found that there are actually a few good wineries in the are that people have been recommending. This was probably the most reviewed and one of the most popular in the area so I decided to take a little day trip to Newport.
I believe it was about $ 15 for a single person to do taste testing. Keep in mind that this vineyard is relatively new and they are still developing their vineyard, perfecting their bottling process and finding their identity in the wine world. For the short amount of time that they have been in existence, they actually have decent wine. They have an array of reds, whites and roses and you should really have a seat and try a few. Some of their more exclusive wines you’ll have to pay to taste and is not covered in the price of your wine tasting ticket.
If you have never been to a vineyard before, the wine tour is interesting but if you’re coming from Napa valley, well, the tour is short and not nearly as comprehensive as I am sure you are accustomed to. Their sitting area is really nice and the vineyard itself is beautiful just by virtue of it being a vineyard, but its location isn’t particularly eye appealing. I hope that they start to landscape the area around them a bit.
They have a new restaurant that I haven’t had a chance to try but it certainly looks interesting!
