I would highly recommend this dental office! The office is very inviting and the dentists will explain to you exactly what treatments you need & make you feel comfortable before you do any procedure. Delaware’s best dentists hands down!

I didn’t even make it to seeing a dentist or hygienist at my first visit due to poor office management. I called and made an appointment two weeks earlier and provided my insurance information which they assured me they accepted. The appt was for Monday morning and on the Friday afternoon before they called asking about my insurance. Well I was traveling for work and didn’t get the message till a couple of hours later and the office was closed. So I came in a half hour earlier than normal the Monday of the appt and they said I was not responsive to requests and they cancelled my appt. What? That wasn’t part of the message… They then said I could still be seen. Okay… So I fill out the paperwork and take a seat. They called me up to say I had to pay up front and my insurance would send me a check later. According to them, that’s how my insurance worked. I’ve had this insurance for years and never paid upfront anywhere else. And besides, they said they took my insurance on my initial call. Whatever, I pay and sit back down.
They then call me up again and say they spoke with my insurance and I don’t need X-​rays. I know this, I had them last year, they hadn’t asked me yet. They then say I can’t see a dentist till they review them. However my old dentists office isn’t open for a while today so I’ll need to reschedule. At this point I’ve had enough. They apparently charged me for everything before even seeing if I needed it. They didn’t itemize so I thought it was just for the cleaning.
I then have to speak to the office manager to get a refund and her priority is rescheduling me. I decline because they should have checked these things for a new patient prior to my appt. Her excuse was that they’re busy. I’ve never had any problems with any medical office, this one just doesn’t know the basics apparently.
Leaving the office I called and made an appt with a different dentist who immediately asked about my prior dentist so they could get my records. Seems like others understand how the world works.

The office is all crooks and they teach them this stuff. When I challenged the office manager you should have seen the look in her eye. glad to see these other posts on here. They told me they took my insurance. Then they give me some crazy bill and say it was not covered. No, you checked before I ever came in and I doubled checked when I got here. Finally some lady told me we take all insurance but we are not an approved for Aetna so your fees are higher. They knew exactly what I meant when I asked do you accept my insurance. I was uneasy in their office. When you ask how much something is you get a crazy response about a treatment overall cost and they won’t separate each item. WHAT? What an odd policy. They are unethical, do not go here!

Back in October, I broke my tooth in half. I called around for an emergency treatment, but since it was late on a Saturday, the earliest anyone could see me was Monday and it was going to cost extra. I made an appointment with Delaware Smile Center in Middletown. By Sunday, it was no longer bothering me, so I decided to cancel the appointment. Fast forward 5 months, it’s still broken, but not bothering me. Delaware Smile Center calls me back in March and asks me if I ever got it taken care of. I say no, they offer to schedule me in and get it fixed, with no emergency upcharge this time. I don’t normally go there, but since they reached out, sure why not. This place is 20 miles from me. My dentist is 2 miles. I get there this morning, 30 minutes before my time, because I expect to have to fill out a bunch of paperwork. They tell me it will be $ 261.00 and that my insurance requires that I pay up front and they reimburse me. No big deal. I ask her what is being done today because that amount seems awfully cheap to repair a broken tooth. She tells me that they are doing an x-​ray and letting me meet with a treatment consultant. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I don’t need a consultant to tell me that my tooth is BROKEN. You COLD CALLED me to set up an appointment to FIX MY TOOTH and then you try to sucker an extra appointment out of me? Give me a damn break. These companies that only give a crap about making money, especially when a customer’s health and well being are concerned, make me sick. I will NEVER give this place a dime and will be sure to tell everyone I know that Delaware Smile Center — Middletown only cares about the bottom line. What a joke. I even argued with them to try to get them to do the work today and they said that they can’t do that. They have to do the consult first and schedule it another day. Every dentist I’ve ever been to in my LIFE has done an x-​ray and then the work on the same day. I guess this place just isn’t good enough for that or like I already suspect, only care about money. I only wish they allowed reviews on their Facebook page so I could give them a nice big 1-​star. I’m sure they turned them off just because of stuff like this and the multitude of disappointed customers they’ve already let down.

Dr. US mani was my daughters dentist for 3 years… in September 2014 she started with pain in her lower tooth… we went in more than 10 times over the course of 4 months with my 13 year olds continued complaint of tooth pain, Dr. US mani told me he had completed a root canal in that tooth and kept telling us she needed a crown to stop the pain… but that required her to be 14 for the insurance to cover it… we waited for her birthday the office promised to have everything in order for it to be done immediately after her birthday… her birthday came and the pain increased to the point of her not being able to eat… I called them for help… the response was that… the insurance had not approved the crown. but they would do it for cash with a 700 deposit up front. I called the insurance to find out the delay… the insurance informed me that no claim had been filed by the doctor since September… where that claim was approved. but for a stainless steel crown!!! I had not been informed. because the doctor wanted to wait to do a porcelain crown which makes him more money!!! He decided to keep my daughter in pain… to make more money!!! Or take my cash!!! I took her to another dentist the following day… and found out that Dr. Usmani had never done a root canal… but he did a filling touching her root!!! No wonder she was in pain! The new dentist did a root canal immediately! Astounding! The new dentist told me the crown would have never stopped her pain. I plan to file a claim with the dental society. Unethical selfish people should be reported when they make decisions based in money but not to be in business to help others. We are all here to help each other… I would want to know ahead of time if I was taking my child to a good dentist… that is the real reason for this posting. Be careful if you plan to make this man your dentist.
Update recently my daughter had to have 3 of her fillings removed because this dentist filled the tooth too closely to the root requiring now root canals. My current dentist asked me directly «who was her dentist?» This man is a crook! Shame God help him. 4−2−16

Very impressive operation, and I’m glad I’ve found this office. Dr. Usmani explains everything quite thoroughly, and the hygienists I’ve dealt with, Valerie and Abbie, are terrific. The professionals seem to do everything they can to make it as painless as possible. Lastly, it’s a very nice facility that makes you feel comfortable.
