History
Established in 1997.
Backyard Garden Oasis opened its doors in 1997. Greta had been managing a restaurant in Calistoga and was looking for a latter-day career. When she moved onto this property in 1995 she was so taken by the natural beauty and tranquility of this location, she was inspired to share it with others. Her career in the hospitality business and food service guarantees a great breakfast! Construction of the cottages began in earnest and it was less than two years that she opened the doors to visitors. Over these past 12+ years she has hosted thousands of people from all over the world, introducing them to Lake County and the newest, most intesteresting part of Northern California wine country. She protects and lives in harmony with the natural environment. The reward is the presence of many species of birds and mammals. In 2002, Greta learned massage at Harbin Hot Springs and has been joyfully providing Therapeutic Massage for the past 8 years.
Meet the Business Owner
Greta Z.
Business Owner
Greta Zeit and Backyard Garden Oasis are one in the same. This business, this place is a clear manifestation of her character and desires for a peaceful, rejuvenating space to share with others. The character of this bed and breakfast is a relection of the work she has done over, not only the past 14 years, but a lifetime of experience. Originally from New York City, she dreamed of living in a place like this and fulfilled that dream when she moved here in 1995. At that time she was managing a restaurant in Calistoga and looking for another career. She was able to merge her experience and passions in this business. Adding massage work to her repertoire came about through her relationship with another B&B owner and Massage Teacher, Elaine Marie. For the past eight years, she has studied, taught and practiced Therapeutic Massage and this is offered here at the Oasis. As her grandchildren were born and took over her life, she only improved her dedication to service.
