Specialties
Situated on hills approximately 300 feet above Lake Mendota, Pleasant View Golf Course provides a panoramic view of the City of Madison, WI.
The golf course features 27 holes (Woods, Prairie and Lake) of regulation golf, a par-three course, and a practice facility which includes a putting/chipping green, practice bunker and range with great views of the Capitol, which some make as a nice target when honing in their swing.
Our clubhouse features a full service bar and grill where golfers can order sandwiches, soda, beer, and mixed drinks after their round. Or just come up for lunch, dinner or drinks and enjoy the free Wi-Fi on our outdoor patio as we’re conveniently close to many businesses on Madison’s West Side.
We are owned and operated by the City of Middleton and take pride in providing a great value, so come see what the View’s all about!
History
Established in 1958.
In 1946, Carl Schaefer purchased 150 acres of land to develop a golf course on the rolling hills off of Pleasant View Road in Middleton. He laid out the first nine hole course on 75 acres and saved 60 acres for the second nine hole course. He began building the clubhouse in 1954. On May 30, 1958 the clubhouse and first nine holes were opened to the public. He continued building the second nine holes which opened in 1965. Carl hired Jerry Kessenich to be the greens-keeper. In 1969, the old first nine was turned into the par 3 course and driving range and a brand new 18 hole course was built covering about 200 acres. On August 15, 1970 the new 18 hole course was opened to the public. In 2003, the new 27 hole course opened. In April 2007, the brand new clubhouse was opened to the public.
