We specialize in hair color and skincare. Classic styles and trendy looks. Our services include hair extensions, airbrush spray tanning, makeup artistry, waxing and facials. Our storefront carries a collection of costume jewelry and handbags to accessorize your total look.

History

Established in 1993.

Patty started her career 35 years ago in Middleboro and has been here ever since. She worked as an educator for Wella and travelled around teaching haircolor for several years before settling down at this central location on Center Street.

Business Owner

Patty started a beauty career while in high school. Went on to Johnson and Wales and worked in retail for a while before getting a job in the beauty business. She then went on to barber school and worked as a barber for several years attending Redken seminars and doing lots of perms throughout the early 80’s. After that she opened her first business with a partner and went to work for Wella as well so that she could learn from the best and get the new trend releases before anyone else in the area. Eventually it was time to do her own thing and that is when she opened New Concepts Hair Salon more than 20 years ago! Patty recruited and encouraged several friends to get into the business and helped some of them eventually to open businesses of thier own. Although she now resides on Cape Cod, she loves working and having fun with the other stylists that work with her. Every day at the salon is a fun day!

This is the only hair salon I’ve gone to my entire life and I won’t try another salon! Just about every stylist at this salon throughout the years has done my hair and I’ve never had an unhappy experience! Everyone here is extremely knowledgeable, they can answer any questions you have… cuts, hair health, dyes, you name it, they know it! I now religiously get my cuts and highlights with Stacey since I was 19 (she fixed my hair after I attempted to use boxed dye… I was a naïve college kid back then lol). I swore I’d never dye my hair without her salon again! So I got my hair fixed by Stacey who turned my brassy orange hair to a beautiful brunette! And as promised, I now only go to New Concepts to dye my hair and Stacey does a fantastic job, as do the other stylists here! On top of that, the prices have always been reasonable, whether it’s services or products. Can’t go wrong with giving New Concepts a try!

I use to go to another hair dresser in Middleboro and she cut my hair well. However she moved and I had to find another salon. I decided to try New Concepts.
I brought in a photo of what I wanted and the hairdresser had a look at it, called it cute and then we began the process. Getting towards the end I started to think to myself that this isn’t what I showed and went she finally finished she asked how it looks. I said it looked nice, but I didn’t mean it and was just trying to get out of the chair at that stage. I have thick wavy hair and now I look like I belong back in the 80’s with how the cut turned out.

Went to New Concepts for the first time and had the most amazing experience with Stephanie!!! I have been searching for a good local stylist for years and my search is finally over! My hair is naturally very dark and I have some sporadic color resistant grey. I have been wanting to do a subtle ombré for a while but nervous bc I have had bad luck in the past with lifting my color and also grey coverage. I gave a picture to Stephanie and she was able to match it to a T and consulted with me every step of the way to make sure it was exactly what I wanted!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE my hair!!! :)

I’m surprised to see so many great reviews on here. This place is in my hometown, and I went there as a kid until my hairdresser opened his own salon down the street. I remember there being a big ugly fish on the wall, which definitely doesn’t say anything about the quality of the hair cutting, but there is something to be said about the aesthetic of a salon’s interior. The only stand-​out memory I have of new concepts was my last experience there, years ago.
I had my hair done for my Junior prom, which was such a mistake. I didn’t get into the chair until about 40 minutes after my appointment started (causing me to miss pictures at a friends house… if you remember being 16 you know this was a big deal) and my the stylist was absolutely inexperienced. I wish I could remember her name. I asked for a french twist and ended up with this terrible rat’s nest that looked like I slept on it. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I cried over it (okay I was 16) but the worst part was the salon owner’s attitude. She would not discount the service in any way and didn’t offer any concessions to a crying teen with an ugly hairdo. I told her I’d never come back and I kept my word.

Absolutely LOVE LOVE New Concepts! Been coming here for so many years I’ve lost count. Stacey has been the «go to» stylist for both my son and myself. Great colorist and I trust in her that she’ll get it right every time :)
Recently got married and Patty did an amazing job on both my up do and makeup application!

Amazing salon been going here for over 5 years!!! When calling to get an appointment I get in that week, Stacey does amazing shellac, Rose the most relaxing facials and eyebrow waxes, Stephanie does the best coloring and cuts also has great ideas for new hair styles and products! Patty always makes sure that there is an amazing collection of jewlery, hair products, hair pieces and clothing items! They always have the up to date styles in the salon. Highly recommend this salon if you have not been once you go you will always go back.

New Concepts is a great salon, located in downtown Middleboro. The girls are super friendly, very stylish, and always make me feel amazing when I leave.
